Salvador was born on January 13, 1979 to Manuel and Claudia Porras in Dallas, Texas, one of five children. He grew up in a very loving home and was very close to his family. Salvador was married to Bertha for twenty years and they were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Claudia Guadalupe and Nichole Andrea. These girls were Salvador's pride and joy. Salvador loved his family and always made sure they had everything they needed. Salvador worked for Engineered Air for 16 years where he was a mentor, a friend and a bright light to everyone around him. Salvador also did the landscaping for Tri Century Bank and Great American Bank in De Soto, Kansas. Helping to keep the De Soto community beautiful while taking care of his family. The family would like to invite everyone to attend the services for Salvador. The visitation will be held at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel located at 32665 Lexington Ave, De Soto, KS on Tuesday, September 12th from 5:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. There will be a Mass at All Saints Catholic Church located at 811 Vermont Ave, Kansas City, KS on Wednesday, September 13th at 1:00 p. m. The graveside service will follow the Mass at approximately 2:45 p. m. at the DeSoto Cemetery located at 34500 West 87th Street in De Soto, KS. The Salvador Porras Memorial Fund has been set up at Tri Century Bank located at 33485 Lexington Ave. , De Soto, Kansas. All proceeds will be given to Salvador's wife and daughters. Maria was born September 10, 1981 in Mexico to Rodrigo and Ana Maria Del Real. Maria loved living in De Soto for over 20 years. Her good heart and soul reaching out to friends and family here and in Mexico. She always had a helping hand. She found it easy to reach out to so many that was less fortunate than her. Her love and kindness showed through everything she did. Maria loved to cook, her specialty was Jello of all types. One way she could express her passion was in the kitchen. Maria was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister. She will be missed by all that knew her. Glenda Sue Barton, 70, of the Seneca-Cayuga Nation passed away November 4, 2023, peacefully in her home in De Soto, Kansas surrounded by loved ones. Funeral services on November 8, 2023 will be at Seneca-Cayuga Nation Community Center at 2:00 PM with graveside at Bassett Grove Cemetery, Grove, Oklahoma. Visitation will be on Nov. 7, 2023, from 6-8:00 PM at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel, 32665 Lexington Ave. , De Soto, KS. Glenda was born to Floyd and Jackie (Logan) Birdsong on July 6, 1953 in Kansas City, KS. She was the oldest of 11 children and enjoyed caring for her younger siblings. Glenda was married to Paul Evan Barton for 25 years and together they had four children. As the family matriarch, Glenda also adopted and raised three of her grandchildren. In her retirement, Glenda moved to Northeastern Oklahoma to be closer to her siblings and Tribe. Even though she left school after the 9th grade to help her family, Glenda completed her GED and attended Haskell Indian Nations University. She worked in several factories, including working as an embroidery operator at Gear for Sports for many years. She loved to embroider, crochet and sew and she passed these skills along to her children and grandchildren. She was a long-time member of Elm Grove Baptist Church in Bonner Springs, KS, and most recently was a member of Faith Builders International Church in De Soto, KS. Glenda is most vividly remembered as a funny, loving, kind and genuine soul who touched many hearts. Glenda is preceded in death by her parents, sister Karen Birdsong, brother Donald (Donnie) Birdsong, sister Geraldine (Breezy) Tehee, daughter Karla Barton, granddaughter Austina (Boogies) Barton, grandson Melvin Shamblin and one great-grandchild. Glenda is survived by her sisters, Rhonda (Dude), Sharon (Katie), Katherine (Kathy), and Lisa; brothers Ronald (Ronnie), Thomas (Tom) and Lonnie (Lou); children Paul J. Barton, Kim E. Guyett and Kevin L. Barton; grandchildren John Secone, Desirae Upton, Tracee Barton, Andrea Wiglesworth, Lance Barton, Skyla Barton, Kaitlyn Donell, James Barton, Takoda Walker, Charles Smith, Kaylee Eulitt, Kriz Barton, Gage Delibro, Braiden Barton, Kai Delibro, Alyssa Delibro, Jozlyn Barton, Tyr Guyett, Cole Barton, Ruger Barton, and Cam Barton; 12 great-grandchildren (and more on the way!). Janell E. Slater, 57, of De Soto, Kansas passed away September 17, 2023, peacefully at her home. Celebration of Life services will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Grace Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 3312 Calvin Dr. , Lawrence, Kansas. Visitation will be Friday, September 22, 2023 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel, 32665 Lexington Ave. , De Soto, Kansas. Interment will be in De Soto Cemetery, De Soto, Kansas. Janell was born on March 20, 1966 to Marion and Helen (Walton) Wenger in Oberlin, Kansas. Janell graduated from Faith Academy and attended Christ for the Nations Institute, receiving her associates degree in Biblical Theology. She enjoyed babies & children, family, friends, taking pictures of and with cherished ones, making photo albums, being a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), watching the KC Chiefs, KU Jayhawks and cheering her sons on in sports. Her sons loved her compassion for others, her infectious laugh, her unwavering commitment and support and how any friend of theirs was treated like a part of their family. As at home, her coworkers at Merck Animal Health proclaimed she was the glue that held everything together. Janell was a member of Grace Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Janell was united in marriage to Gary Slater on September 27, 1986 in Oberlin, Kansas and enjoyed raising & teaching their four sons. Janell was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Helen (Walton) Wenger. Survivors include: Husband, Gary, of the home; sons, Lucas of Kansas City, MO, Jordan of Overland Park, KS, Nathan of Olathe, KS and Justin of De Soto, KS; brothers, Vincent (Linda) Wenger of Salina, KS and Greg (Julie) Wenger of Overland Park, KS; sister, Susan Griem, of Siloam Springs, AR; 11 nieces and nephews and 27 great nieces and nephews, with a great niece due in October. Lorine "Lori" Margot (Harrison) Scroggins of Cameron, Missouri formerly of De Soto, Kansas, age 87 entered Heaven into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 11, 2023. She was born a twin on Wednesday, January 29, 1936, to Lorin Elliott and Marjorie Katherine (Lyndoe) Harrison in Oak Park, IL. Lori lived numerous places throughout her life, attending school in La Grange, IL and graduating from La Grange High School in 1954. Lori attended Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas for two years, marrying her college sweetheart Richard Terry Scroggins on September 7, 1957. Richard and Lori were blessed with four children, Kimberly Sue (Mark) Price, Stephen Craig (Valerie) Scroggins, Julie Lynn (Paul) Stanley and James Kevin (Lisa) Scroggins. Lori enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking, reading, flowers and being outside on a bright sunny day! While her children were growing up Lori served as a Girls in Action Leader, Girl Scouts Leader and AFS volunteer. Richard and Lori opened their home and hosted one AFS foreign exchange student, "Yupadee "Kyo" Kanjanarungsee. Lori held several positions in her lifetime. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for Ransom Memorial Hospital Administrator in Ottawa, KS, Ottawa University Alumni Office, Southeast Elementary School in Clinton, MO, First Baptist Church, Cameron, MO, 5th Street Baptist Church, Hannibal, MO, First Baptist Church, Bartlesville, OK and First Baptist Church, Longview, TX and retiring as Administrator of the Wee Learn Center in Longview, TX. Lori was preceded in death by her brother, Craig Russell Harrison, parents and husband. Lori is survived by her 8 grandchildren, Shelby (David) McVey, Rachel Stanley, Colby Scroggins, Alec Stanley, Olivia (Issac) Morrill, Logan Stanley, Benjamin Scroggins and Erin Scroggins, 2 great-granddaughters McKenzie and Katlyn McVey, 1 great-grandson Noah James Morrill and one twin sister, Lillian May (Bernie) Myers of Auburn, IN, many nieces, nephews and friends.
