Funeral services for Sally R. Williams, 90, will be held 3:00 p. m. Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Swansea United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Melrose Memorial Gardens in Swansea. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Swansea UMC; 305 N. Church St. ; Swansea, SC 29160. Ms. Sally passed away Sunday, September 10, 2023. Born in Swansea, she was the daughter to the late Lewis and Rean Fort Rast. She was a lifelong member of Swansea UMC where she sang in the choir. Ms. Sally earned her music degree from Coker College and was an accomplished pianist and soloist. She loved all animals, especially horses and dogs. She often competed in horse shows earning many blue ribbons in her competitions. She was well known for her cooking and baking with her specialty, among many family favorites, being her pear pie and her "Mama Sally Cake". "Mama Sally" as she was known by her family, will be missed dearly by her loving family. She is survived by her son, Andy Williams (Susan); daughters, Lisa W. Hawsey, Angela W. Eskridge, and Nancy W. Sharpe (Jimmy); grandchildren, Trent, Kerrie, Zachary, Lauren, Kelli, Madison, Sally, Andrea, and Adam; and great-grandchildren, Austen, Landon, Kyleigh, Ashton, Cullen, Gannon, Kenzly, and Tucker. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Malachi A. Williams; and sisters, Beth Giles, Annette Brown, Mary Lewis Smith, and Kathryn Williams. The family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to Amedisys Home Health and Hospice for their loving care and support for Mama Sally.

Sumter - George Ann Brown, 79, wife of 62 years to Joseph Luther Brown, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born on May 20, 1944, in Ringgold, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late George Mason Cantrell and Doris K. Davis. She was a member of Open Bible Baptist Church and a former member of Gantt Street Baptist Church. She was a faithful wife and a very dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a faithful servant of God. Survivors include her children, Joel Brown of Conway, Arkansas, Terrie Byrd (David) of Sumter and Gary Brown (Julie) of Jefferson, Georgia; one brother, Lowell Cantrell of Lafayette, Georgia; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her stepfather, Dewey Edward Davis of Trion, Georgia; sister-in-law, Joyce Cantrell of Lafayette, Georgia and stepbrother, David Davis of Trion, Georgia. A funeral service will be held at 11 a. m. on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Gantt Street Baptist Church with Pastor Gene Rowell officiating. Visitation will take place at 10 a. m. prior to the service. A private family burial, with Pastor Joey Durham of Open Bible Baptist Church, Sumter, SC. will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery on Friday, December 1, 2023. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Philip Brown, Jeremy Byrd, Zachary Byrd, Jonathan Brown, Deven Rogers, and Bret Wagahoff. Our family graciously expresses our gratitude to the Gardens of Sumter for their compassion and love shown to her throughout her stay in the community. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the mission's fund of Gantt Street Baptist Church, 2121 Gantt St. , Cayce, SC, 29033 or Open Bible Baptist Church, 180 Old Manning Rd. , Sumter, SC, 29150.
