Katrina Louise Skivington Hopkins was born in Niagara Falls, New York, to Deborah Miller and Thomas Skivington. She was the eldest of four and moved around a lot in her childhood years before finally settling in Houston, Texas, where she eventually gave birth to seven children. She met Prince Uchendu at the age of 25 and fell in love. They were married and had five children together. She was passionate about life and collecting friendships. She had many hobbies throughout her life. She was part of a motorcycle club for some years (Ruff Riders), where she collected even more friends. She dabbled in modeling, cooking, starting small businesses, going on adventures, and traveling. Katrina was very smart and always found a way to hustle and make the most out of what life threw at her. She was a successful real estate agent for over 10 years. In 2016, Prince died and left Katrina widowed. It was a very hard time for the family, but she pulled through it and remained strong for her children. In 2018, Katrina met and fell in love again with Walter Hopkins. They shared many laughs and hobbies with each other. They loved traveling and even opened a restaurant together! They were married on March 14th, 2020, and blended their families. Sadly, in October 2020 she was diagnosed with cancer. This news was devastating, but she did not let it affect her joy. She started a Tik Tok documenting her journey and has reached over 25 thousand people. She has helped bring hope and positivity to many other people struggling with the same fate. Bringing people comfort online was very unexpected, but it gave her peace knowing her journey touched so many people. Katrina was an amazing person who could light up a room just by entering. She is survived by he husband, Walter Hopkins, and children: Alexus Uchendu, Brianna Uchendu, Bianca Uchendu, Alyssa Uchendu, Emeka Uchendu, Ashley Gonzalez and Joey Gonzalez. She is also survived by step children: Hailey Hopkins, Hannah Hopkins-Motley, and Alexandria Hopkins, as well as uncles, aunts, cousins, and siblings. Age - N/A

December 7, 2023

Del Foreman King, also fondly known as Miss Del, left us on Monday, November 13th, 2023, to walk with Jesus. She was born on January 11, 1938, in Lafayette, Louisiana to parents Walter and Melba Foreman. Del was the middle child of four, little sister to Pansy Joy and older sister to Mary Carolyn and brother Walter Scott. Del attended Mt. Carmel High School in Lafayette where she was an accomplished pianist, made lifelong friends and received high marks in every subject and awards in debate. A graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana 1959, she achieved her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and was an outstanding student and leader. In 1961 at The Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Lafayette, Del married John King. He met all of the "requirements": had a degree and a job and was handsome, smart, and tall. They shared 62 years together bowling, square dancing, traveling and most of all building a beautiful family. Her daughter Karen King was born in 1962 and her son Robert King in 1965. The family moved to New Orleans in 1965 where they stayed for 9 years. They then moved to Milwaukee, WI for 3 years but the south was always calling her back. The Kings moved to Kings Creek, Kingwood, TX in 1976. Del walked the greenbelt along peaceful Lake Kingwood daily and serenaded friends and family on her grand piano in the evenings. She cherished her neighbors and home of 40 plus years until her last day. Family meant the world to Del, and she shared her "joie de vivre" especially with her granddaughters, Madeline and India. Del's faith guided her through her whole life. She began to seriously study the Bible in 1988 when she joined Bible Study Fellowship at Kingwood Second Baptist Church. There she found her first faith home and spent the next 10 years sharing, teaching and leading in her faith. Del and John joined the Kingwood Presbyterian Church in 1992. Her heart was always with her church home and family. Del especially enjoyed serving on the board of deacons, attending and leading bible study and being in Marytha and Dorcas Circles. She truly loved offering her service to the church, meeting wonderful friends and pastors, and being involved in the community. Loved ones that will miss Del until they meet again are her husband John King; her children Karen King West and Robert King; her younger sister Mary Carolyn; and her granddaughters Madeline and India. And to all of us she says . The memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood on Friday, December 8th, 2023 at 2pm. Flowers can be sent to the First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood before 12pm on Friday, December 8th.Show more
