Sadako Lynn Smith, age 89, of Saginaw, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 20, 2022. She was born on November 28, 1932 to Kinsuke and Haruyo Idomoto in Japan. She married Durrell Smith a member of the USAF in Japan in 1955 and after his service moved from Japan to Michigan. She worked for many years at Jacobson’s Department store and won awards for her excellent sewing. In 1979, she was a founding partner of the Panda House Restaurant in Saginaw. Sadako also had her own Asian store for 8 or 9 years in the 1980’s. She enjoyed travelling with her friends, and often used her skills with sewing to help others. Sadako is survived by her sister-in-law, Moyne O’Keefe; Longtime friends Mr. Toshitaka and Mrs. Natsuko Fujii, Marie Kucard, and Harumi Struthers. She will be missed by her Faith Baptist Church family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her former husband. Cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service held on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at 11:00 a. m. , at. . .
