It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Isidro H. "Cuce" Mendez, 75. on Wednesday, February 13, 2024. He was born on October 3, 1948, to the late Isidro and Felise Mendez in Littlefield, Texas. ??Isidro was the devoted husband of Julia Flores Mendez, and they resided in Thrall, Texas for 35 years. ?Isidro was a member of the Taylor Christian Center in Taylor, Texas and loved playing the guitar and bass guitar. His kindness and warm spirit touched everyone he encountered. He will be remembered for the love and warmth he extended to all those fortunate to know him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Isidro and Felise Mendez; his brothers, Jilberto H. Mendez, Sr., Pedro "Pete" Mendez, Fermin H. Mendez, Sr., and Alexandro H. Mendez; daughter, Paula Mendez Martinez and granddaughter Crystal Lynn Martinez. ????Isidro is survived by his wife, Julia Mendez; daughters, Irene Palomo, and Marie Mendez and husband Justin Contreras; son, Isudro Moses Mendez and wife Jessica Ramirez; his brother, Rudy Mendez and wife Terri Mendez, and sister, Janie Palomo and husband Paul Palomo. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one on the way. As we mourn the loss of Isidro, let us also celebrate the richness of a life well-lived. May his memory continue to inspire us to embrace our loved ones.

Darlene Wright was born to the late Mr. Floyd Mitchell and Ms. Emma Wright Wicks on November 30, 1957, in Schulenburg, Texas. She attended school in Weimar, Texas and finished her schooling in Houston, Texas after moving to Houston. Darlene was a true believer of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She loved to sing and had the voice of an angel. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, and her grandparents. She is survived by and leaves to cherish her memory: Rovin Denley, Gregory Denley, Vanessa Stovall all of Columbus, Texas; Deborah Isichei and Azuka, Reginal Wicks and Tracy, Tammie Brown Troupe and Michael S. and Terril Devroe and Michale D. Grand Children, Daisha Williams, Nikite Dobbins, Corey Rhodes, Chelsea Soto, Matthew Rhodes, Jennifer Harrell, Darrell Wright, and Darrell Trahan, twelve great grandchildren, two special friends, Michael Shorts and George E, Shorts of Houston, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mace and Betcie Williams welcomed their son, Alfred Williams into the world on January 10, 1946, at sunrise in Colorado County, Texas. He entered into a union with LaGloria Flowers and from that union, four children were produced, two daughters, La Sonya Johnson, Christy Price and two sons, Dwayne Williams and Trevon Williams. He was loved by many people and enjoyed spending time with loved ones. He was well-known for his fondness of western clothing, which included cowboy hats and western belt buckles. He had been a truck driver for over 51 years and had proven himself an expert at operating 18-wheelers. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Mace and Betcie Williams, five sisters, Essie Mae Henry, Dorothy Williams, Mercede Young, Roberta Williams and Vida Williams. Five brothers, Melvin Williams, Rubin Williams, Harry Williams, Robert Williams and Willie Williams. Alfred Williams leaves behind two daughters, La Sonya Johnson of Celina, Texas, Christy Price of College Station, Texas and two sons, Dwayne Williams of Brenham, Texas, Trevon Williams of Weimar, Texas. PEDRO CASTILLO was born on June 29, 1970, to Ramona & Jesus Castillo. He graduated from Flatonia High School in 1970; Pedro worked for Cal-Maine for 28 years. He was diagnosed with cancer in May of 2023. Before his battle with cancer, he was a loving and caring son, brother, uncle and friend to many. He loved watching wrestling, was a die-hard Cowboys: Aguilas and Spurs fan. Pedro could walk into any room and be the life of the party with his jokes and change your mood from sad to happy in a heartbeat. You never saw him without a fresh haircut, new hot chips, and a clean car to hit a backroad. Pedro is preceded in death by his father, Jesus Castillo. He is survived by his mother, Romona Castillo and seven siblings. Jose (Nate) Castillo and wife Paola, Monico & Esperanza Castillo, Ignacio (Nacho) & Zenaida Castillo, Juana & Juan Valdez, Teresa & Jaime Olivares, Maria Rodriquez and Elaine Ruiz Castillo as well as many nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces. Carol Ann Wunderlich von Minden, 82, of La Grange, passed away peacefully ather home after a short-term courageous battle with cancer in the early morninghours of New Year’s Day Monday, January 1, 2024. She was born in Winedale, Texason December 11, 1941, to Elton and Lucile (Jaster) Wunderlich. She was a devotedwife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a dear and loyal friend tomany in the community. She graduated from Round Top-Carmine High School at the top of her class assalutatorian in 1960. She married Weldon von Minden on November 6, 1960, andthey began their 63 years of a happy married life in La Grange. Carol spent her free time gardening, canning, cooking, sewing, quilting andtraveling in their RV with husband Weldon to the Hill Country especially duringpeach season. She also was an avid Aggie and Longhorn fan while following herfamily’s educational accomplishments and careers. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Weldon von Minden, her twodaughters, Cynthia and Ken Stohr, and Pamela and Larry Wyant; one son, Bradleyand Misti von Minden; cherished grandchildren Clint Taylor IV, Lee Ann andMichael Herman, Amy Wyant, Jordyn and Taylor Mann, Landon von Minden, andequally cherished great-grandchildren Peyton Herman and Walker Herman. Shealso leaves behind sisters Mary and Erland Schulze, Debbie and DuWayne Pfeffer,brother Jimmy and Ruth Wunderlich, brother-in-law Al Fridel, and numerousnieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving parents Elton and Lucile Wunderlich, andsister Janice Fridel. Carol was a stay-at-home mother for many joyful years and also worked for theFayette County Record newspaper in La Grange for many years. She also was apartner in her husband’s architectural and electrical firm for several years. Pallbearers will be nephews Dustin Pfeffer, Darren Pfeffer, Doug Pfeffer, KevinSchulze, Patrick Wunderlich and Chris Wunderlich. Honorary pallbearers will begrandsons Clint Taylor IV and Michael Herman, and nephew Jeffrey Schulze. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fayette Memorial Funeral Home.Visitation will be held there at 967 East Colorado St. in La Grange on Tuesday,January 9 from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 10at 10 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 800 N. Franklin St., La Grange. Following, graveside services will be held at Florida Chapel Cemetery, 265 FloridaChapel Road, Round Top, Texas 78954 at 11:30 a.m.

Leon David Cunningham was born in Hallettsville, Texas on December 16, 1953, to the late L.D. and Vera Cunningham. He was baptized at an early age at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and graduated from Victoria Stroman High School. Leon worked at Atzenhoffer Chevrolet and was a truck driver for Schaffer Oil Field, Dawson Oil Company and Key Energy where he retired in 2011. Leon was easy going, would help anyone in need and hosted family gatherings during the holiday season, He owned a 1972 Chevelle and several Cheverolet pickup trucks that were the highlight of many conversations. Whether it was barbecuing or playing cards, he enjoyed life to the fullest and wanted others to have a good time when in his company. One rarely saw Leon upset, and if so, it was not for long. After retirement, Leon moved to Sublime, Texas and spent time with family and friends until his health began to decline. He was preceded in death by his parents, L.D. and Vera Cunningham, siblings, Gwendolyn Demps, Kenneth Wayne Cunningham, and Carolyn Holley. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Cunningham, children, Christopher Williams, Lanita Williams and Lonnie Wayne Cunnigham, sisters, Claudette Lucas, Rowena Cyprian and Debra Stallworth. He is also survived by in-laws, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Services for Bobbie Jean "BJ" Renck, 90, of Warrenton, Texas are set for 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 5, 2024, at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange, Texas, with Pastor Jack Gilmore officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 on Thursday, January 4, 2024, also at the funeral home. Mrs. Renck passed away December 31, 2023, in La Grange, Texas with her family at her side. BJ was born December 24, 1933, in Nashville, Tennessee to Joseph Storey and Zola (Hagewood) Storey. BJ was the founder of the Original Warrenton Antique Show back in October of 1981. She was the owner and operator of Renck Hall and Field and for the past 42 years was a permanent fixture during all of the Antique shows. She survived by her son Marlon O'Riley and wife, Michelle; daughter, Marlene Rooks and husband Steve; grandchildren, Victoria, Stefanie & husband Chris, and Michale; great-grandchildren, Jordan, MaKayla & partner Daven, Ainsley, Emmitt, and Beckitt; and great, great-grandchildren, Mia and Daxten; along with numerous other family, friends and loved ones. BJ was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Zola; husband R.V. "Smokey" Renck; brother, Homer; sisters, Opal and Francis; and daughter, Cheryl Rena O'Riley.
