Ruth Whitlock Obituary

Ruth H. Whitlock, age 93, passed peacefully on Monday, May 8, 2023. Born September 2, 1929 in Wilmington DE, she lived there for 85 years, then relocated to South Park and changed from Eagle fan to Steelers fan. Preceded in death by husband, Thomas Whitlock; sister Marguerite Wysocki, brother Clarence (Tom) Harkness, and son Richard Crowl. Survived by daughters Beverly Crowl (Stavros Voutsinas, dec), Evelyn Tucker (Marty, dec) and daughter-in-law Cheryl Crowl. Gramma to Michael Crowl, Jeremy Tucker, Nikol Voutsina, Stelios Voutsinas, Jacqueline Tucker, Kersten Crowl, and several great grandchildren. She was a graduate of Conrad High School, secretary for DuPont for 25 years, worked full time while a single mother in the 60s. Ruth retired in 1985, but continued working part-time admin jobs, exceled at the new computer technology and used a smartphone until her death. Dedicated to being in the Lord's service, at work, volunteering at church, caring for her mother and her sister, and helping others in Paramount. Loved travel to the mountains and visiting her grandkids in Greece, Pittsburgh and Carbondale. Member of Peters Creek Baptist Church in South Park, had a sweet spirit and a deep love of the Lord. Now she is spending eternity with her loved ones in a place we can only imagine. A special note of thanks to Paramount South Hills and Paramount Hospice for their excellent care. Visitation for Pittsburgh friends will be held Wednesday 3-6 p. m. at the David J. Henney Funeral Home, 6364 Library Road (RT 88), South Park. A memorial service and burial will be held in Elkton MD.
