Ruth Jackson, age 90, of Winter Haven, Florida passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023. She was born on January 1, 1933 in Wildwood, Florida. Ruth dedicated her life to taking care of her family and serving the Lord. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Eagle Lake. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband F. C. (Frank) Jackson, father A. W. Lee Sr. , mother Ethel (Gatch) Lee, her 3 brothers Wilber Lee, A. W. Lee Jr. , and Homer Lee as well as her 2 sisters Aubrey Smith and Marjorie Lee. She is survived by her sister Naomi Maddox (Jerry) of Wildwood, FL, daughter Jean Bilbrey (Dwight) of Winter Haven, FL, daughter Judy Wilkerson (Rex) of Auburndale, FL, her 4 grandchildren Jennifer Swamson (David) of Winter Haven, FL, Cristie Aguilar (Jose) of Winter Haven, FL, David Bilbrey (Tiffany) of Bartow, FL, and Pamela Gardner (Craig) of Auburndale, FL as well as her 9 great-grandchildren Derrien Young, Devin young, Deshaun Young, Deion Young, Deedrich Young (Ashley), Tyler Wilkerson, Camryn Gardner, Bailey Swamson, Logan Swamson, Breeann Bilbrey and Bryce Bilbrey Weiss. Ruth also leaves behind her 3 great-great-grandchildren Kaya Young, Alaiya Wilkerson and Elijah Bruno along with a multitude of extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly. Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Eagle Lake on Monday, October 9, 2023 with a visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a funeral service to begin at 11:00 AM. On November 21, 2023 Bueford passed away peacefully in his home under hospice care at the age of 81. He had just celebrated his 54th wedding anniversary with his wife Fay Yates. He was born on July 4th, 1942 in Samson, Alabama then his family moved to Central Florida in 1956 where he graduated high school in 1965 from Haines City High. Bueford was a hardworking, family man that was always proud to talk about his work projects as a heavy equipment operator along with his love for his family. He had many hobbies including bowling (he was actually on a bowling league once), reading tons of books, tending to his small garden, his grape vines & abundance of fruit trees. He also never passed up an opportunity to go fishing or hunting for deer. And if you were ready to play dominoes or poker, he was always game & ready to take your money. Bueford spent a lot of time with his family either on summer vacations in the Smokey Mountains or weekend get togethers at his parents home. They were more like family reunions which could not make him any happier. He is survived by his wife, Fay, his son, Lennie and his family, his daughter, Angel & her husband Jay. He is also survived by his older sister Geraldine & his younger sister, Doris along with many cousins, nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cloise & Bessie Yates, his two brothers, Edward & Earnest as well as his sister Aldene. He will be missed by all & remembered forever.Show more

John Thompson, 84, of Winter Haven, Florida passed away on November 19,2023. Born in Winter Haven, Florida he was a lifelong resident. John graduated from Winter Haven High School and was a part of the Florida Southern College ROTC. John entered the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant and was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia. John reached the rank of Captain. Fort Benning was where John met the love of his life, Carolyn Ann Sherwin. They married and enjoyed a loving 59 years together. John was a giver throughout his life. He was a member of several Board of Directors in Winter Haven, FL. John was the Commander of the Polk County Sheriff's SWAT Team for several years. John maintained his spit and polish professional appearance throughout his life. John appreciated the men and women in law enforcement who proudly serve and protect the citizens of their respective communities. John's motto was Service Before Self. John worked in several professions to include Citrus, The Polk County Sheriff's Office as a Sergeant in the Law Enforcement Division, and Corporate Security Director for the Winter Haven Hospital. John was preceded in death by his parents, James L. and Rudy L. Thompson; sister, Marrion Sassard. John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Ann; a sister, Evelyn Melton of Tallahassee, FL; brother, Clyde Thompson of Winter Haven, FL. John was also survived by his cat, "Cat". A service will be held at Oak Ridge Funeral Care 2425 Havendale Blvd. Winter Haven, FL on December 1, 2023 with a gathering of friends and family from 10:00 am- 11:00am.
