Ruth Ella Finigan (Volzer), age 84, of Harmony, PA, passed away on Sunday September 3, 2023Born May 28, 1939, in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Ruth Volzer (Coudriet). Ruth was a very active person. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, canoeing, biking and Country Line Dancing. She was a member of St. Athanasius Church. She was a caring loving person to all those she met and those whom she met while volunteering. Ruth leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband Thomas, who she married on April 11, 1959; her children Thomas Finigan (Lisa), Kathy Culp (Richard), David Finigan (Sandra); her brothers; Eddie, Thomas and Bob Volzer, and sisters Virginia Crawford, Linda Keyser, Gloria Gent and Lorretta Jackson and four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents John and Ruth Volzer, brother John Volzer and sister Almeda Volzer. A Mass will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Athanasius Church, 7 Chalfonte Ave, Pittsburgh, Pa 15229, with Fr. Joe Uzar Officiating. Ruth will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville. Esther B. Lohr, 84, of Evans City passed away Thursday November 30, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Crawford WV, the 5th of 8 children, to the late Thomas P. and Susan McQuain Bleigh. She married Kenneth R. Lohr Sr. on April 12, 1957. They raised 3 children together. Ken and Esther enjoyed traveling all over the United States. She was a proud graduate of Jane Lew High School, Jane Lew WV. After raising her children Esther worked 20 years as a nurse aide and receptionist at Passavant Retirement Center. Esther enjoyed decorating for the holidays, working in her yard, having picnics on the porch, playing cards, but mostly spending time with her family and many friends. Esther is survived by her husband of 66 years, Kenneth R. Lohr Sr. ; daughter Kathy Lohr of Evans City; daughter-in-law Lisa Lohr of Evans City; grandchildren Jeffrey R. Lohr, Kenneth R. (Carla) Lohr III, Matthew R. Lohr, Michael R. Lohr of Butler, Jaclyn A. Lohr and Kaitlyn A. Lohr of Evans City; great-grandchildren Michael Jr. , Stevie, and Sophia; Sister Elizabeth Hicks of Jane Lew, WV; brothers Frederick Bleigh of Hookstown, PA and Edgar Bleigh of Weston, WV. ; and many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sons Kenneth R. Lohr Jr. and Jeffrey E. Lohr; her sisters Ruby Lee and Eleanor Lee; and her brothers Thomas Bleigh and Lester Bleigh. Hilda Marie Pflug, age 93, of Marion Township, PA, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023 while under the care of Celebration Villa of Chippewa. She was the loving wife for 65 years to the late Merrill Pflug. Born on December 14, 1929 in Rochester, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clair and Mabel Shaffer. Through the years, Hilda was a lifetime member of St. John's Burry's Church, was a Sunday School teacher, and a member of the Faith Circle. She was an active member of the Big Knob Grange, serving as secretary and on the Fair Board. She served on Marion Township Board of Elections. She was an avid seamstress and crafter. Most important to Hilda was her family; she loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren cherishing all of their accomplishments. She loved cooking, baking, and having family dinners and get togethers. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and David Brenner, Cranberry Township; Kathleen and Daniel Murphy, New Sewickley Township; Cynthia and Scott Vannoy, Chippewa Township; and one daughter-in-law, Hedy Pflug, Daugherty Township; nine grandchildren and spouses, Dr. Heather (Regis) Stief; Julie (Matthew) Bisceglia; Eric (Janice) Brenner; Nicole (Matthew) Newingham; Marc (Jenny) Brenner; Ryan (Elizabeth) Murphy; Traci Murphy; Dr. Katelyn (Joshua) Kuszmaul; Courtney (Roger) Diehl; and 11 great grandchildren; her brother and sister-in-law, Dennis (Joann) Shaffer; her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy (Paul) Alexander; and three sisters-in-law, Julie Shaffer, Cathy Shaffer, and Delores Housholder; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Michael Pflug; a grandson, Jonathan Vannoy; three brothers, Donald, Robert, and Clair Shaffer; and sister-in-law Sella Shaffer. Robert Charles Hoehn, Sr. , age 73, of Renfrew, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family. Born July 31, 1950 in Butler, he was the son of the late Allen Hoehn, Sr. , and Beatrice (Smithers) Hoehn. Bob honorably served in the National Guard. He was an active member of St. Conrads Roman Catholic Church - All Saints Parish, where he was involved in the fish fry and funeral lunches. He volunteered at Katie's Kitchen at St. Mark's Church for community dinner and at the Portersville Food Bank for many years. Bob loved hunting and fishing in Erie and Moraine State Park. Above all, he loved attending his grandchildren's activities. He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Diane H. (Schultz) Hoehn; his children, Rebecca Murtha (Keith) of Clarion, Robert Hoehn, Jr. (Becky) of Zelienople, and Mark Hoehn (Kerri) of Butler; his nine grandchildren, Emma, Ben, Chelsea, Zach, Daisey, Carter, Julie, Cooper, and Gracie; his brother, Allen Hoehn, Jr. (Claudia) of Butler; his sister, Barbara Ganz of New Jersey; and his many grand-dogs. The world has lost a beautiful soul. On November 22, 2023, Gina Marie Bigley, born October 31, 1961 in Indiana, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Gina was a devoted wife to her husband, Dan, and a loving mother to her two children, Danielle and Joshua. She was a very-proud grandmother to her two grandsons, Easton and Matthew. Gina was a woman of faith, strong family values, and she was the pillar of strength in her family. She was the beloved confidant of her children, although a pain to shop with because she would talk and have lengthy conversations with anyone!Gina was a kind and generous person who always put others before herself. She was a great listener and was always willing to lend an ear and offer advice. She was a better cook than we ever gave her credit for, and Dan will miss all her meals. While she would be reluctant to admit it, she had a special place in her heart for her late Bichon Frise, Murphy. Gina will be remembered for her kind heart, her unyielding optimism, and her ability to make everyone around her feel special. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Ronald A. "Punkin" Kummer, age 85, of Butler, passed away peacefully, filled with the love of his family, on Saturday, November 18, 2023 while under the care of Good Samaritan Hospice. Born July 17, 1938, in Butler, he was the son of the late Wilbur F. Kummer and Alice W. (Raabe) Kummer. He married Lucille J. Rocco on May 19, 1962, and they shared 61 years of marriage together. Ron proudly served in the Air Force from 1956 until 1960 in Paris, France. He belonged to St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church. He was a member of American Legion Post #778 and Elks Lodge #170. In his free time, enjoyed golfing, bowling, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife, Lucille "Jeanne" Kummer; his brother, Jack Kummer; his sister, Dutch Bowser; his daughters, Ginger Kummer, Andrea Hutchens, and Rena McClaine (Matt); his son, Ronald A. Kummer II (Lynn Yocum); his 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his brother, C. Fred Kummer. Ron chose cremation and his remains will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery of The Alleghenies. As per Ron's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date. Bernard "Bernie" J. Fell, 93, went to be with the Lord on November 13, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband and soulmate of Shirley L. Fell for 63 years prior to her passing in March 2021. Bernie spent the last seven years of Shirley's life caring for her as she struggled with Alzheimer's. Bernie was born February 12, 1930 in Zanesville, Ohio, to Benjamin and Bonita (Crosby) Fell. He attended Zanesville High School, Miami University, and graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in engineering. On November 23, 1957, he married Shirley Reitz and they raised four children. In addition, they hosted several international exchange students through the American Field Service (AFS), including Aury Tovar, Sissel Vollan, and Annika Abrahamson. It is hard to sum up Bernie's life in a few paragraphs. Bernie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be remembered for his leadership, devotion to service, selflessness, and generosity to others. Bernie chaired many committees and taught Sunday School at Ingomar United Methodist Church (UMC), Mars UMC, and St. John's UMC. He served as the Township Supervisor of Middlesex Township for twelve years. Bernie also served in the Marines during the Korean conflict. Bernie was a hard-worker who was willing to help anyone who needed assistance. He was quiet at times, but his eyes would sparkle and he would have a slight smile while observing his family playing a board game, swimming in the river up at the cottage, or sitting around the dinner table talking and laughing. Bernie loved to travel and camp with his wife and family. Bernie and his wife were blessed with many enjoyable years of camping with Bernie's twin brother and sister-in-law all over the United States. Besides traveling, Bernie's other love was football. He cheered for the Buckeyes and Steelers! Bernie never missed an Ohio State football game on TV and was a season ticket holder of the Pittsburgh Steelers for over 50 years. Bernie leaves a huge hole that can't be filled in the hearts of everyone who knew him. Bernie is survived by his children, Debby (Luke) Fritz of Valencia, Lisa (Andrew) Ecklund of Coatesville, PA, Brian (Antonie) Fell of Butler, and Scott Fell of Tionesta, PA, and six grandchildren, Meghan (Ian) Capcara, Matthew Fritz, Emily Ecklund, Luigi Fell, William Fell, and Sophie Fell, as well as many nieces and nephews. Bernie was proceeded in death by his parents and his brothers, John Fell, Jerry Fell, Carl Fell, J. Fell, and his twin brother, Bob Fell. Friends and family may call from 4:00 to 7:00 P. Helen Frances Dorko, age 87, of Butler, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023 while under the care of St. John Lutheran Nursing Home in Mars. Born February 12, 1936 in Barnesboro, PA, she was the daughter of Frank and Catherine (Myslivy) Klimek. She attended Barnesboro School, Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, and Ursuline College in Ohio. She worked as a nurse and retired from Lake Hospital in Painesville, Ohio in 1996. She was a member of St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church in Butler. Helen loved reading, cooking, baking, and crocheting, especially afghans. She always looked forward to the family's annual Labor Day reunions. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Andy; her sons, David (Lydia) of Zelienople and Andrew (Charlene) of Hermitage; her daughter, Michelle (Mark) Beuchat of Harmony; and her grandchildren, Lara, Adam, Sarah, James, Amanda and Victoria; one great-grandchild on the way; and several nieces and nephews. SHE ATTENDED SLIPPERY ROCK COLLEGE IN CONJUNCTION WITH BUTLER MEMORIAL HOSPITAL NURSING SCHOOL. SHE GRADUATED FROM PITTSBURGH COMPTOMETER SCHOOL. SHE WORKED FOR REICK McJUNKIN DAIRY IN PITTSBURGH. Barbara Ann Napleton Secunda, daughter of Alan Napleton and Jeanette (Schaffner) Napleton, passed into eternal life on September 19, 2023, after a brief illness. Her life centered around her family. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren, who were her joy. Many family gatherings and celebrations were hosted in her home. While raising her children, Barbara worked at BC3, the Butler County Registrar's Office and managed the family real estate properties. Prior to marriage, she worked at Magnetics in Butler and Dupont in New York. She was a lifelong member of Saint Paul Catholic Church where she served on the Parish Counsel, editor of the parish newsletter, docent, and welcoming ministry. Her volunteer work included Cub Scouts, PTA, school cafeteria, and Butler Hospital gift shop. She enjoyed traveling worldwide and throughout the states with friends and family. Barbara was fortunate in her later years to move her home to beautiful Ava Maria, Florida. She is survived by her sons, Bill (Chris) Secunda, and David (Peggy) Secunda, and daughters, DeeAnn (Ralph) Graham, and Susan (Gary) Raabe; grandchildren, Sara (Brad) Patton, Maggie (Tom) Duer, Lilly Secunda, Alan (Kristen) Jackson, Zachary, Cassie, and Luke Secunda, Elizabeth (Brian) Hubbard, and Emily, Theresa, Anna, and Clara Raabe; great-grandchildren, Gracie, Silas, and Ellie Patton, Chase Jackson, Logan and Zoey Duer, and James Hubbard. Also surviving are brothers, Alan Napleton of Texas, and John Napleton of Virginia, and sisters, Carol Green of Butler, Mary Cooney of Maryland, and Peggy Burrier of Texas.
