Ruth E. Brightman 1927-2023 Cameron, Missouri- Ruth Elaine Brightman, 95, passed away October 4, 2023. She was born November 12, 1927 in Winston, Missouri to Omar and Eunice (Brady) Baxter. Ruth graduated from Winston High School in 1945. She married Glenn Brightman in Troy, Kansas on October 19, 1946. Ruth was a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn; son, Charles Douglas; and brother, J. C. Baxter. Survivors: 4 children, Steve (Barbara) Brightman, Polo, Missouri, Reava (Jim) Parsons, Greentop, Missouri, Jim (Glenda) Brightman, Independence, Missouri, and Kevin Brightman, Cameron, Missouri. ; 4 grandchildren, 2 step- grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren. "Eldon Robert "Boo" Peterie Eldon Robert "Boo" Peterie, age 94, a lifelong resident of Laredo, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at the Missouri Veterans Home, Cameron, Missouri. Eldon was born the son of Roy and Stella (Groves) Peterie on April 12, 1929, in Laredo, Missouri. He was a United States Army Veteran, and served during the Korean War. He was a double Purple Heart recipient. Eldon was united in marriage to Betty Barnett on August 29, 1953, in Laredo, Missouri. She preceded him in death on June 18, 2019. Eldon worked as a self-employed bricklayer. He was a member of the Laredo Baptist Church and the Missouri State Trappers Association. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. Survivors include his two sons, Kerry Peterie (Cindy), of Chula, Missouri, Mike Peterie (Bert), of Laredo, Missouri; one daughter, Lora Jackson (Les) of Trenton, Missouri; four grandchildren, Erica Blue (Donald) of Chillicothe, Missouri, Lisa Dannar (Jeremy) of Kansas City, Missouri, Logan Jackson (Meagan) of Columbia, Missouri, and Tyler Jackson (Dani) of St. Louis, Missouri; seven great grandchildren, Henley, Hattie, Jacob and Eleanor Jackson, and Owen, Kylie and Harper Dannar. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; three brothers, Leroy "Pete" Peterie, Claude Peterie and John Bennett; and four sisters, Marie Swan, Ilene Lee, Doris Manning and Gracie Tomac. Funeral services will be held at the Laredo Christian Church, Laredo, Missouri, on Friday, November 24, 2023, at 2:00 p. m. Betty B. Henderson 1924 - 2023 Betty Bryan Henderson, age 98, of Cameron, MO passed away on November 28. Betty was born on December 6, 1924, in St. Joseph, MO to Willis James and Bessie Irene Nicholas. She graduated from high school in Chicago, then studied art at Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. She was employed at Crane Company drafting complex mechanical blueprints by hand. She joined the U. S. Marine Corps in 1944 following the Pearl Harbor attack and completed boot camp at Camp LeJeune before being stationed in Miramar, El Toro and Camp Pendleton, CA creating signage, graphics and poster art. She was honorably discharged as a corporal after WWII. In 1950 she graduated from Park College as an art major. There she met Robert (Bob) Carl Henderson and they married June 20, 1950 and lived in Peculiar, MO for many years. They moved to a farm in Lathrop, MO after construction of the new Kansas City airport to facilitate Bob's commute to TWA where he worked as a mechanic. Betty was a gifted oil painter, creating paintings for her family and church decor, including large murals installed in the Peculiar Methodist Church. On the farm Betty was a busy housewife, canning and freezing many fruits and vegetables from their gardens and orchard. She raised chickens, prepared farm raised meats and made fresh apple cider in bulk. She prepared butter, cheese and cream pies from fresh milk. She was a church leader, 4-H leader, excellent cook and seamstress. She continually knitted, crocheted and quilted. They were members and leaders of Crossroads Assembly of God of Cameron for many years and served the Lord on seven mission trips to other countries. Betty and Bob traveled widely on cruises and tours. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Dorothy Delaney and Frances Clark, and brother John Kenneth Anderson. She is survived by son David and wife Donna of Oklahoma City, daughter Ruth and husband Curtis Sears of Rockwall, TX, daughter Sharon and husband Terry Strode of Kansas City, seven grandchildren: Rebecca Campbell, Caleb Henderson, Carmen Goldbling, Sarah Totten, Nicholas Totten, Matthew Sears, Emily Sears and eight great grandchildren: Judah, Malachi, Ezekiel, Henry, Konstant, Mordecai, Rivka and Ozzy, with another expected. She is also survived by nieces Patricia Triplett of Troy, KS and Karen Organ of St. Joseph. Visitation will be 10:00 AM, December 2, 2023, at Crossroads Assembly of God Church, Cameron, MO. GEORGE ANN (SIGRIST) DOVE George Ann Dove passed away Thursday, November 8, 2023 in Cameron, Missouri. George Ann was born June 17, 1926 in Cameron, Missouri to John A. Sigrist and Catharine (Muenker) Sigrist. She attended Saint Rita's Catholic School and graduated from Cameron High School in 1943. George Ann was married to Robert Eugene "Gene" Dove on December 22, 1948. George Ann was the bookkeeper for Gene's painting business. She also worked for the Cameron Cooperative, Pulley Law Office and the Farmers State Bank until her retirement in August 1988. George Ann was a lifelong member of Saint Munchin Catholic Parish in Cameron, Missouri and devoted many hours as a volunteer in church functions. She was the volunteer bookkeeper for the Cameron Special Road District for over fifty years. She was especially devoted to her many years of volunteer work with the Comfort Care Hospice, Cameron Regional Medical Center in Cameron, Missouri. George Ann and Gene built a cabin on Table Rock Lake the 1960s and enjoyed years of entertaining family and friends at the lake house. George Ann and Gene enjoyed traveling the United States and were able to visit all fifty states. George Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gene, her sisters Mary Frances Poland and Marguerite Hatcher, and her nephew Greg Poland. Mary Johanna "Jo" Thummel, age 71, of Cameron, MO, died Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Quail Run in Cameron. A service to remember and celebrate her life will be Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, at 10:30 a. m. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Heppler, OSB officiating. She will be laid to rest in Sugar Creek Cemetery. A visitation will be on Friday evening, Nov. 3rd, beginning at 6:30 and will conclude with a rosary at 7:45 p. m. Jo was born on January 23, 1952, in Atchison, KS, the daughter of George Harold Betts and Mary Ann (Davenport) Betts. She attended St. Joseph's grade school and graduated from Mount St. Scholastica; she later earned her Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology. She used her education for working with those in need. She was a counselor for at-risk youth at Mount St. Scholastica and then for the State of Missouri in the prison system until her retirement in 2022. She married James Dixon in 1972 and they were later separated. Jo and Dennis Thummel were married on December 8, 2003, in Atchison, Kansas. They enjoyed camping, traveling and going to concerts when they could. Jo loved nature and taking pictures of nature, listening to different genres of music and she was the only one in her house allowed to cook on the grill! She was dedicated to her catholic faith throughout her life. She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Kimberly Dixon; brothers, Louis and George Betts; step children, Deborah Calhoon, Dennis J. Thummel and Alice Renee Roets; and two grandchildren. Left to cherish the memories of Jo include her husband, Dennis Thummel; siblings, Paul Betts (Angela) and Regina Hund; nephew, Robert Hund; step children, Robert Boatright (Julie), George Thummel, August Thummel; thirteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.Show more

Dinah M. Wilson 1985-2023 Cameron, Missouri- Dinah Marie Wilson, 38, passed away October 16, 2023. She was born in Spokane, Washington on May 25, 1985. Dinah worked alongside her family at Northwest Missouri Academy of The Arts, where she taught dance, swimming, and gymnastics. Along with teaching, Miss Dinah loved the color pink, dancing, acting, gardening, herbs, flowers, collecting little rocks, kitties of all kinds, sewing, crafting and being silly. Her creativity and imagination knew no bounds, making her the best playmate for nieces and nephews. Her innate ability to think outside the box brought excitement and intrigue to all of her choreography, beauty and brilliance to her award winning costumes and a unique and vibrant life to every character she played on stage. She is survived by her mother, Carla, of the home; 8 siblings, Daniel (Dawn) Sunderman, Bethany, Missouri, Derek (Emily) Sunderman, Lathrop, Missouri, D. J.
