Eileen Patricia was born in Buffalo, New York, on December 12, 1929. On the cusp of adulthood, she left with a college scholarship when she finished high school at St. Nicholas. She admired her mother dearly and enjoyed watching her play the piano and the accordion. When Eileen's father died, it was a great devastation to her. It was essential for Eileen to keep the memories of her family and ancestors alive by telling their life stories. Embracing her heritage and Irish culture was something she cherished significantly. Eileen participated in various community organizations such as being a Charter Member of the Buffalo Irish Center, Irish Northern Aid, Daughters of Erin, and LAOH. Over the years, she embraced technology to keep in touch with her relatives in Ireland and Skyped with them often. Eileen made her living at Niagara Mohawk Electric Company in the accounting division. The desire to move south of the city led her to build her family in Hamburg, New York. There, she raised 12 children in a one-bathroom home. When guests visited, she always offered tea with ginger snaps. Eileen had a big heart, where everyone in her life held a special place. She never complained and taught her grandchildren that life was worth living. Her faith was strong and helped her through the hard times, even praying for everyone. Eileen will be missed for her healing hugs and remembered for her love for life. Flanagan, Eileen P. (nee McCarthy) November 29,2023 of Hamburg, NY. Robert's joys included collecting Lionel Trains and Kris Model Trains, reflecting his love for intricate craftsmanship. Proud of his heritage, he was tied to a legacy of Roman Catholic Faith through ancestors, like Joseph Batt, pivotal in building Cheektowaga's first church, The Chapel of Our Lady Help of Christians, erected in 1853. Joseph's vow after surviving a storm at sea in 1836 led to the chapel's establishment, and upon settling in Cheektowaga in 1837, he fulfilled his promise by donating land in 1851. The chapel's historical significance grew with pilgrimages starting in 1864, drawing thousands to this site of enduring faith and community. Robert Joseph Batt had a great devotion to our Savior Jesus Christ and our Blessed Mother Mary. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
