Russell Delano New, 83, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at his residence. Russell was born May 6, 1935 in Baisden, WV, a son of the late Johnson and Lena Patrick New. He was a coal miner, a member of the UMWA and of the Church of God Faith. In addition to his parents Russell was preceded in death by his wife Maretta New sons, Timothy Russell New and Micah Jeremy New, daughter, Sandra K. New; brothers, Hershel New, Charles "Peanut" New, Landola New, sister Marie New McCoy Survivors include wife of 20 years, Shelina "Sherry" Murphy New of the home; son, Burton Patrick New and Natasha of Wharncliffe, WV step daughter, April Birchfield Hatfield and Jamie of Gilbert, WV; sister Cathy New Cline of Pounding Mill, VA; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 18, 2019, at 1 o'clock with Reverend Jeremy Compton officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger. Burial will follow in the Brushy Fork Cemetery at Isaban, WV. Serving as pallbearers will be Jamie Hatfield, Dawson Hatfield, Rilee Hatfield, Jerry Hallam and Jeremy Johnson.
