Rudolph Goennewich Obituary

Rudolph Bernard Goennewich, "Rudy", age 93 of Roswell, passed away peacefully with his wife close by, Friday, April 21, 2023. He was born July 12, 1929 in Farmingdale, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents Mae and Bernard Goennewich. He is survived by Evelyn, his wife of 70 years; daughter, Linda Balzano; son, Ron Goennewich; grandson, Nicholas Balzano; granddaughter, Brianna Balzano and numerous nieces and nephews. Rudy grew up on Long Island and spent the first half of his life in the NY / NJ area. He spent the last half of his life in Roswell, GA. He served for the U. S. Army in Japan just after WWII. Later, he worked for Western Electric / AT&T for 30 years and retired in 1986. Among many things, Rudy enjoyed church activities, singing, working in his yard, golf, and gatherings with friends and family. He was an active member of Rivercliff Lutheran Church since 1974, member of the church council, sang in the choir for 35 years, and volunteered whenever he could lend a helping hand. But above all else he enjoyed providing love and support to his family and his "Sweetie Pie", Evelyn. A memorial service will be held at Rivercliff Lutheran Church, Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www. alz. org), or Rivercliff Lutheran Church.
