Obituary of Ruby Stanton Funeral services for Ruby Blanche Stanton, 87, Overton, are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Friday, February 15, 2019 in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Roy Culley officiating. Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery in Troup. Mrs. Stanton passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019 in a Tyler hospital. She was born March 16, 1931 in Troup to the late Ira and Cora Bell Bullington Freeman. She married Elmer Stanton on May 24, 1947 and lived in Overton for over 60 years. She graduated from Troup High School and went on to get her nursing degree as a registered nurse, where she then went to work for Henderson Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Overton Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years and served as an assistant Sunday School teacher. Besides her parents, Mrs. Stanton was also preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Stanton; infant daughter, Donna Elizabeth Stanton; her brothers, Durward Freeman and Donnell Freeman; sisters, Edith Brown, Gladys Pyle and Lucille Rawls; grandson, Michael Stanton. Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Judy Stanton of Kilgore, Darrel and Holly Stanton of Lindale, and Allen and Gale Stanton of Garland, Carlin and Jennifer Stanton of Kilgore; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and a host of cousins and other relatives. Pallbearers will be Dale Brown, Chris Stanton, Stephen Stanton, Austin Stanton, Seth Whiteley and Andrew Winkler Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, February 14, 2019 at the funeral home.
