Ruby Laturner Obituary

GALENA, KANSAS: Ruby Ellen LaTurner, age 91, passed away at 10:22 pm. Friday, April 21, 2023, following an illness. Ruby was born February 9, 1932, in Rural Jasper County, MO. Her parents were Ezra Julian and Thelma Lorraine (DeHaven) Talley. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked several years at Baxter Memorial Hospital, Baxter Springs, KS and retired when the hospital closed. She later worked at Barker's Rest Home, Galena, KS for several years. Her Hobbies included Crocheting, Square dancing,Shopping and TravelingShe was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Galena, KS. Ruby was married to Bobby Joe LaTurner on October 5, 1951, in Bentonville, AR. He passed away on October 6, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Robert Talley, two sisters, Edith Terry and Lavon Olds, one granddaughter, Billie Griesmer, and one great-grandson, Zachary GriesmerSurviving are 4 sons, Rick LaTurner (Barbara), Galena, Chris LaTurner, Baxter Springs, Thom LaTurner (Shelley) Scammon, KS, and Mark LaTurner, Galena; two daughters, JoEllen Hall, Baxter Springs, and Janet Russell (David) Galena; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Rosary prayer service will be at 6:30 pm, Monday, April 24, 2023, at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. The family then receive friends until 8:00 pmFuneral mass will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at St Patrick's Catholic Church, Galena, KS. She will be laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS.
