Mrs. Kermit (Boyce) W. Klein nee Ruby L. Solbrig of San Antonio passed away on Friday, October 6th at the age of 84 years. Ruby Lucille Solbrig was born on September 30th, 1939 in Fredericksburg, Texas to Kurt and Ferna Wahrmund Solbrig She married Kermit (Boyce) W. Klein on May 31st, 1958 in the Zion Lutheran Church, Fredericksburg Mrs. Klein is survived by her husband: Kermit (Boyce) W. Klein of San Antonio Two daughters and spouses: Donna and Steven Bednarz of Temple Karla and Glenn Dylla of Hondo Three grandchildren: William Bednarz, Christopher Bednarz and Beau Dylla Sister in law: Arlene Solbrig and numerous nieces, nephews and their families Ruby is preceded in death by her parents: Kurt and Ferna Solbrig, Two sisters and six brothers: Cora Solbrig, Evelyn Looney, Elgin Solbrig, Harvey Solbrig, Wolney Solbrig, Clinton Solbrig, Leroy Solbrig and Dayton Solbrig The family will greet friends on Wednesday, October 11th from 11 A. M. to 1 P. M. in the chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home, Fredericksburg with Funeral Services at 1 P. M. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Zefrin "Zeke" Kucera passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, after a short bout with cancer. He is survived by his 3 children; Terry (Bill) Gardner, Tammy (Larry) Moczygemba, Jerry (Jamie) Kucera, brother, August (Margie) Kucera, 8 grandchildren: Breanne, Brady & Allison, Joy & Ryan, Shea, Jarrett & Kelsey, as well as 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Nancy Baldwin Kucera, his sisters Roselee Kucera Strelec and Lily Kucera Martinka, and brother Marvin Kucera. A church service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fredericksburg, TX on Thursday, January 18th at 10:00am, with a celebration of life to follow in the church hall. A graveside service will be held at The Palms Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Friday, January 19th at 10:30am, in Portland, TX. After graduating high school, Zeke enlisted in the US Army, and was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, where he met and married Nancy Baldwin. After leaving the Army, Zeke and Nancy, along with their 3 children, moved to Corpus Christi, TX. He started his own company, Coastal Bend Pump Co. , and was very successful. In 1973 he built a new home and the family moved to Portland, TX. Zeke was a coach for the Portland Little League and served on the Little League Board. He was also elected to the Portland City Council, where he served for many years. Once he retired, he moved to Fredericksburg, TX. Anyone who knew Zeke knew he couldn't stay idol long, so he started a lawn service. For fun he loved to bowl and also go to Hondo's and dance with the ladies. He was well liked by all that knew him, as he never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed. Luther Seth Rode of Fredericksburg, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023 under hospice care at Windcrest Nursing Home at the age of 78. Luther was born on September 26, 1945 in Fredericksburg, TX to Ewald and Elsa Meier Rode. Luther was baptized at St. Peter Lutheran Church at Doss on November 11, 1945 and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg on March 22, 1959. He is a 1963 graduate of Fredericksburg High School. Luther met his wife, Janet Miller, over a banana split on a Luther League trip in 1965. They were married on June 3, 1967 in Walburg, Texas. Together, they lived in Fredericksburg for all 56 years of marriage. Luther was well known for his beautiful custom cabinetry. He began his career building custom cabinets at Stein Lumber Company in the 1960s. He later opened his own cabinet shop, Luther's Custom Cabinets, providing his fine craftsmanship to many homes in Fredericksburg and the surrounding areas for over 20 years. Luther also worked in the maintenance department at Hill Country Memorial Hospital for 12 years and served in the Army National Guard. Luther was actively involved in Scouting. He received his Eagle Scout in 1963, earned the Pro de et Patria award in 1965, and Silver Beaver award in 1990. Luther served as a scout leader for over 30 years. He also served on the board for the Fredericksburg Food Pantry and was a member of the Kiwanis Club. Luther loved to spend his time on his property in Doss, where he raised cows and sheep. He had a passion for music and loved to sing. He sang with both the men's choir and praise team, Agape Road, at Bethany Lutheran Church for many years. He also taught Sunday School, was a Luther League Sponsor, and served as the superintendent of Sunday School at Bethany. He is survived by his wife Janet; son, Nicholas Rode; daughters, Laura Cobb and her husband Aaron, Alyssa Petsch and her husband Rusty; grandson, Mason Petsch; siblings, Barbara Schneider and James Rode; sister-in-law, Diane O'Rourke and her husband Jimmy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Luther is preceded in death by his parents, Ewald and Elsa Rode; his father-in-law, Louis Miller; mother-in-law Gladys Zoch Miller; his brother-in-law, Elgin Schneider; and numerous aunts and uncles. A closed casket visitation for Luther will be held from 4 p. m. - 6 p. m. on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Schaetter Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. A closed casket memorial will begin at 10 a. m. with funeral service at 11 a. m. on Monday, December 11, 2023, both at Bethany Lutheran Church before being laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his son, Nicholas Rode; sons-in-law, Aaron Cobb and Rusty Petsch; grandson, Mason Petsch; nephew, Ryan Schneider; nephew-in-law Christopher Ayala; and cousin, Mark Miller; and son of family friend, Randall Friedrich-serving in honor of Cameron Phillips.
