Leroy, "Roy" Thompson, 79, of Bedford Hills, NY died Saturday, October 7 2023 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx after a lengthy battle of lung cancer. He was a resident of Bedford Hills since 1976. Roy was born on November 16 , 1943 at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mt. Kisco, NY to the late Clarence Thompson and Grace Thompson-Ahrlich (nee Vetter). He worked for the Town of New Castle Highway department for 47 years. He was a longtime member of the Bedford Hills Fire Department and before that a member of the Bristol Fire Department in Chappaqua. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Mt. Kisco. Roy was married to Vera (nee Gluck) on February 14 , 1976 at St. Mathias in Bedford Hills. He is survived by his wife Vera, his daughter Teresa Rivers (Chris)of Hudson, NY, Robert of Bedford Hills, NY and his sister Shirley (Richard) of Staatsburg, NY. He is predeceased by his parents Clarence and Grace and his brothers Allen, Robert and Ronnie. Services will be held at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woodbridge Rd. , Katonah, NY on Tuesday, October 10 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Bedford Hills Fire Department, 332 North Bedford Rd, Bedford Hills, NY 10507 or the SPCA Westchester, 590 North State Rd, Briarcliff Manor, NY 10510.

Betty Ann Powell was born on April 27, 1945 to the late George Robinson and Evangelist Bernice Robinson from Charleston, SC. She departed this life on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. At an early age she accepted Christ and became a member of Hosanna Baptist Church located in Harlem, NY. She sang in the choir as well as sang with Reba Jones and the Pearlistics for many years. Then she met and married Donald Powell Sr. Betty was educated in NYC where she attended P. S. 90 in Harlem, NY. She graduated from Julia Richman HS in 1962. She furthered her education at Lehman College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with honors in Black Studies and a Master of Science. She started her working career in the Textile Industry. Betty worked at Bradshaw and Cohen Brothers. Later, she worked at NYC Department of Education. Finally, Betty became a supervisor at the Department of Social Services for over 39 years. Here, she held the title of Eligibility Specialist in Medicaid and Snap Benefits. She ended here career as a Client Specialist in Adult Protective Services. During this time, she met her beloved partner, for more than thirty-three years, Cornell Gibson. He has been a devoted partner up until her passing. His love and devotion will never go unsung by the Powell and Robinson family. Betty leaves to cherish her memories: four sons; Andre Powell (Carmen Powell), Donald Powell Jr. (Veronica Powell), Kareem Powell (Stephanie Reid-Powell), and Michael Powell (Willette Powell). (4) grandsons; Andre Powell Jr, Eric Powell (Jaida Martinez) Jackson Powell, Cy Powell (2), grand-daughters, Chelsea Rutty (Jonte Rutty), Leah Powell. (7) great-grandchildren; Christian Rutty, Darius Rutty; Madison Powell, Eric Powell Jr, Michael Powell Jr, and Sade Powell. (1) one brother preceded her, George Allen Robinson Jr. She also leaves her sister Sandra Robinson. (2) sister-cousins; Mary Smalls; and Felicia Bennett. (1) God Daughter; Guendalina Shaw-Pieters. Lifelong Throggs Neck resident, Christopher Patrick Dixon, Jr. , aged 64, passed away on December 1, 2023, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Chris was a master plumber, and member of Local 1, following in the footsteps of his late father, Christopher Dixon, Sr. He worked on many job sites in the city over the years and mentored many apprentices. Chris was also an avid and talented golfer, another skill he learned from his father and then passed on to his own son. He was even known to hit a hole in one from time to time. After retiring from the plumbing trade, Chris was able to use his connections and golf talents working with attorney Joseph Romano as a Marketing Associate, organizing many golf outings and impressing potential clients with his skills. Chris was a proud Irishman with a quick wit who enjoyed a pint of Guinness, and was known to "try" another. His grandparents immigrated from Ireland and Chris grew up with Irish music, dancing, stories, and visits from relatives across the pond. Like his father, Chris was a past member and president of the Bronx Ancient Order of Hibernians, Throggs Neck, Division 4. Chris also enjoyed fishing and spending time on the water, especially in Montauk and Cape Cod. He was a smart guy, who enjoyed learning about history, and was always ready to regale you with a story or offer a word of advice. Above all else, Chris cherished his children and his grandchildren. He found great joy in attending their practices and games, and being a playful grandpa. Even while he was battling his illness he found a way to make it to those practices and games. Chris is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Alex Mondino, his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher P. Dixon III and Sophia Dixon, and his youngest daughter, Caitlin Dixon. Chris is also survived by his grandchildren Jackson Mondino, Ethan Dixon, and Logan Dixon, his mother Margaret Dixon, his sister Catherine (Dixon) Lemay and brother-in-law Chris Lemay, his niece and nephew and many cousins and friends, including his former wife, Linda Dixon. A memorial wake service will be held on Monday, December 11 from 3 to 7 at Schuyler Hill Funeral Home, 3535 East Tremont Avenue, Bronx, New York 10465. John Clifford passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 10, 2023 at the age of 89, at his assisted living home in White Plains NY. Born on July 23, 1934 in Caharsiveen, County Kerry, Ireland. He came to America in 1957, to lead a new life in the United States. John was a trained, skilled carpenter and was a member of local 2163 in New York City. He travelled to many areas in the U. S. , including Alaska playing his trade. He also owned several businesses during his lifetime. While in the States, he met and married Ann (Nee Renaghan) Clifford and they had four children: Deirdre, James, Jacqueline and John. John was always interested in his trade and was active in his union. He liked to talk politics and was an avid N. Y. Jets and Mets fan, He loved Irish football along with many other sports. John is predeceased by Ann, their son James, his parents James and Katherine ( Nee Walsh ) Clifford and his siblings, he is survived by his children Deirdre Clifford (Kerry) Jacqueline (Anthony) Brigandi, John (Mary) Clifford and his grandchildren Michael (Melissa) Armstrong, Gabrielle (Hector) Mayer, Anthony (Stephanie) Brigandi, Meghan (Albert) Elezovic, Deanna, Shannon, Dillon, Austin, Devyn and Siobhan, and by his Great Grandchildren Mason and Nora Sophia. Our dear father, grandfather, and friend, Patrick "Paddy" Dennis O'Keefe, sadly passed away on November 15th, 2023 at the age of 81. Paddy was born to Patrick O'Keeffe and Eileen O'Leary on March 19th, 1942, in Bronx, New York. After serving in the United States Air Force, Patrick was a longstanding member of Irons 580 and eventually became Director of Members Assistants for the Local 147 New York City Sandhogs. He later retired in Delray Beach, Florida, with his partner Arlene. Paddy loved spending time with his family and friends and was devoted to helping those struggling with addiction. Most weekends were spent playing cards or dancing with those he loved. Paddy was predeceased by his mother, Eileen O'Leary; his father, Patrick O'Keeffe; his brother, John O'Keeffe; his sister, Eileen Priog and son, Patrick O'Keeffe. He is survived by his daughters, Colleen O'Keefe and Kerri Morgan; granddaughter, Cassidy Trabilcy; grandson, Brian Morgan; life partner, Arlene Schlaeger; brother, Kevin O'Keeffe; and sister, Ann Johnson. He will be terribly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts. We welcome you to join us in honoring his life for a Memorial Service at Hodder Farenga Funeral Home in Yonkers on Friday, December 1st, from 4-8pm and for a Funeral Mass at Saint Barnabas Church on Saturday, December 2nd at 11am.
