Roslyn V. Honan, 95, of Huntsville passed away on October 7, 2023. She was born in Bronx, NY. She was a graduate of Hunter College of NY and earned a Master's Degree in Special Education from the University of Alabama. Roslyn loved her husband of 62 years, Rabbi Bernard Honan z"l, her children, grandchildren and extended family. She talked to her brother, Sam, and sister, Evelyn, almost every day. She loved to listen to music and sing. People describe her as a very loving, gentle, gracious, and kind lady who loved and respected everyone she met. She always had something funny to tell you and when you laughed, she would tell you that is why she is here. . . to make people laugh. Survivors include her children, Sara Crocker (Charles), Michael Honan (Roxanne Travelute) and Lydia Honan; and grandchildren, Rachel Jacobs (Parker) and Benjamin Honan. There will be a graveside service on Monday, October 9, 2023 at 3:00 p. m. at Maple Hill Cemetery with Rabbi PJ Schwartz officiating immediately followed by a Memorial Service at Temple B'nai Sholom. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Temple B'nai Sholom, the Birmingham Jewish Foundation - Hillel Connections Program or Huntsville Hospital's Hospice Family Care.

Colonel Roger Wade Cornelius, 73, of Huntsville, AL went home to His Lord on Wednesday November 29, 2023, at Floyd E. "Tut" Fann Veterans Home. Roger was born on Sept 12, 1950, in Wooster, Ohio. Family photos reveal an idyllic 1950s childhood playing cowboy, riding in his wagon, and playing with Lionel trains under the Christmas tree. Roger graduated from Wooster High School in 1968. He was active in the Boy Scouts attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. In 1972, Roger graduated from Bowling Green State University in Ohio with a BS degree in History Education. He married the love of his life, Debbie Cope, on August 19, 1972. In 1975, he graduated from Akron Law School and proceeded to enter the Army Judge Advocate General Corps (JAG) in January 1976. Home is where the Army sends you. Roger and Debbie made a home at duty stations in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Redstone Arsenal, AL, Fort Monmouth, NJ, Washington, DC, Charlottesville, VA, and Frankfurt, Germany. After 27 years as a career JAG officer, Roger retired from the Army in 2002. He started his second career as a Civilian Contract Law Attorney in the AMCOM Legal office at Redstone Arsenal where he remained until his second retirement in 2020. Roger is remembered for his passionate love of God, country, and others demonstrated in his life of service. He received Christ as his Lord and Savior in February of 1977. As Roger grew in wisdom and knowledge with God, he spent many years teaching Sunday School to children, teens, and adults of all ages. He was involved in Officers' Christian Fellowship where he led Bible studies. Roger was often requested to teach on the challenging subjects of prophecy in Revelation and Daniel. He was a faithful prayer warrior praying for everyone and anyone he encountered in his daily life. Love God and love others was his greatest duty assignment. From playing strategy board games and Lionel trains with nephews to a life dedicated to the pursuit of personal connection and knowledge, honor and tradition guided Roger's life. Roger nurtured a meaningful tradition of Christmas sugar cookies with everyone he loved. You may have received cookies as a gift or cherish time learning the craft from Roger himself. Roger's selfless sacrifices and gentle instructions in life and duty remain with all that knew him. His legacy lives with tradition and honor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wade Cornelius and Georgene Keim Cornelius, and his sister, Zoe Ann Wilson, all of Wooster, OH. Roger is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Debbie Cornelius of Huntsville; his brother, Jeff (Chris) Cornelius of Key Largo, FL; and his beloved nephews and niece. Visitation will be from 11 a. m. to 12 p. m. on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Whitesburg Baptist Church South Campus at 7300 Whitesburg Dr, Huntsville, AL 35802. A Celebration of Life Service follows at 12 p. m. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery. Harold A. Anderson "Andy1' passed away peacefully November 26, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 2, 1941 to Axel H. Anderson and Catherine M. Anderson. He is survived by his wife Louise of 59 years, his daughter Kristen Oldfield, Nathan Oldfield, granddaughter Oliva and grandson Otis all from Huntsville, AL. He is also survived by his nephews Scott Watson and his wife Rita from Virginia Beach. Nephew Dean Stenberg, of Cokato, MN and his niece Lauri Zumach and husband Darin from Buffalo, MN; sister- in-law SuzanneLaRocca of Dallas, TX and her daughters Daphane from Nederland, TX and Ashley from Dallas, TX. He was predeceased by his mother, father, and siblings Polly and Mary. Andy graduated from Cokato High School in 1959. After high school he received a fully paid athletic/academic scholarship to the University of MN. And Texas Lutheran University where he graduated in 1964. He received his Master's Degree from Southwest Texas University in 1968. He played and excelled in academics and in every sport he played. In high school he was in the National Honor Society and the MN All State Football squad. In college he was an All American in football. After college he was offered a contract with the Houston Oilers. He played with them for a short time and then played semi pro for 3 years with a team in Massachusetts and in San Antonio, TX. He coached for 25 years in TX and taught for 40 years. He felt the most important job he had in education was working his last 4 years of his career with special needs children. He loved football, playing it coaching it and watching it. The only thing he loved more was God and his family and lifelong friends. He didn't say much but he did say was, sincere. knowledgeable and witty. He was an avid reader, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and traveling, mostly to the lake or beach. He was always thinking of others welfare and a very generous tipper and donated to many non-profit organizations. He was a wonderful husband, son and father and will be forever missed by his loving family.Show more

Elder Paul Lee Davis, 78, suddenly passed away at Huntsville Hospital on 28 November 2023. He was born on 22 December 1944 to Josephine Tyler in Emporia Virginia. Elder Davis graduated from High School and joined the United States Navy where he served proudly for over 20 years. During his tours he served in the Vietnam War, Multiple at Sea deployments and received 6th Good Conduct Award, National Defense Service Medal, Second Award Navy Unit Commendation Award, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation Award, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with 2 bronze stars. After completing his military service, he later went on to complete his PHD at the Share- A- Prayer and Word Theological school of Ministry in Whitewater, WI. He served the community as a Chaplin of the Salvation Army where he continued to make a difference in the lives of many. He was a devoted Husband, father, uncle, cousin, brother, grandfather and recent great grandfather. He had a love for the church and was very strong in his spiritual walk with GOD. If you didn't see him studying the word you could find him enjoying his other passion, GOLF. He is preceded in death by his mother: Josephine Tyler Stanton, His Brother Gregory Tyler and his beloved spouse - Patricia Elaine Davis. He is survived by his brothers - Gary Tyler and Allen Tyler and his spouse Sandra Tyler. Sisters - Velma Worrell and her spouse Tyrone Worrell and Tracy Tyler Children - Tonja Latrece Butler and her spouse William Ross Butler, Erica Nicole Hicks, Bettina Louise Washington Grandchildren: William Ross Butler II and his spouse Ohka Patel-Butler, Whitney Nicole Butler, Jasmine Latrice McKee and her spouse James Lee McKee, Savannah Louise Washington, Cheyenne Elaine Hicks, Jaevyon Reginald Hicks and Donovan Lee Washington Great Grandchild: Zachariah Lee McKee. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. To some he was known as Elder Davis, but we know him as Pappi, POP POP, Daddy, Big Bro and friend. A memorial service will be announced later.
