Rosina Mancini May 15, 1929 – September 8, 2023 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rosina Mancini at the age of 94. She is reunited with her beloved husband Fileno. Cherished mother of Vilma, Mary and Peter. Dear grandmother of Margherita, Amanda and Christian. Dear great grandmother of Mattia, Melissa, Allegra and Christian. Rosina will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. Friends and relatives are welcomed to the Bernardo Funeral Home (2960 Dufferin Street, south of Lawrence Avenue W. ) on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 9:00 p. m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Charles Borromeo Church (811 Lawrence Avenue W. , at Dufferin Street) on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 10:00 a. m. Rosina will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery (8361 Yonge St. , south of Highway 7). In memory of Rosina, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Cheryl Dianne Bray December 11, 1949 - November 27, 2023 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Cheryl Dianne Bray on Monday, November 27, 2023, a few weeks before her 74th birthday. Loving mother of Ryan (Kathy) and Gavin. Cherished grandmother of Nolan, Megan, Harper and Sarah. Predeceased by her father Alex Nadeau, mother Lena Nadeau (nee Moore) and brother Bill Nadeau. Cheryl was born in Haileybury, Ontario and grew up in Cobalt. She relocated to the Greater Sudbury Area and lived in Coniston, Garson and Sudbury while working and raising a family. Cheryl moved to Toronto in 1998. She enjoyed a long and rewarding career in the medical field as a nurse, medical secretary and dicta-typist and retired in 2010. Following her retirement, Cheryl remained dedicated to her profession and continued to work as a medical secretary. Cheryl was highly independent and remained so throughout her life. Regardless of where she was or what she was doing, Cheryl was very loving and dedicated to her family. Cheryl was an avid reader and a great cook. She enjoyed music, arts and crafts, the beauty and wonder of nature and experiencing different cultures. Cheryl will be fondly remembered for her strength, courage, resilience and spirit when faced with any challenge. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at the University Health Network, the Baycrest Centre, and especially the O'Neill Centre in Toronto for their support and caring for Cheryl in her final years.Show more

Ines Squizzato

Ines Squizzato, of 88 years, left the world suddenly on Nov 28th 2023 in her home. Ines was generous, supportive, loving, and full of an unstoppable passion for life. She was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, sister and friend. Ines was born March 5th 1935 in Montebelluna, Treviso, Italy, 1 of 14 children, to Giovanni and Anna Roncato. Ines moved to Toronto in 1967, marrying Luigi Squizzato shortly after arriving. They had four children together Adrianna (Dave), Michael (Julie), Frank (Denise), and Mary-Jane (Steve). She will be dearly missed by her surviving children, her 8 grandchildren (Michael, Stephanie, Kristen, Jaclyn, Sarah, Lauren, Lexi, and Max) and 2 great-grandchildren (Luke, and Olivia). She is now reunited with her husband Luigi and her son Frank, as well as family and friends gone before her. Nonna loved spending time in her flower and vegetable garden; growing tomatoes, beans, onions, and herbs which she used in delicious meals for her family. She was also an avid cook and generously shared the crostata, banana bread, famous risotto, and mouth watering chicken which she frequently made. Her company at family dinners will be sorely missed, as will her enthusiasm and competitiveness during after dinner cards. Her passion for life leaves lasting memories with all her family and friends.Show more

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Elpida Konnaris, on November 28, 2023. Words cannot express the loss that is felt by those who love her. She will be dearly missed by her husband of 51 years, George Konnaris, her daughter, Mary Anne Pantzoures (Peter), her son Vasos Konnaris (Christine) and loving grandchildren, Andrew, George, Christopher and Tobiyas. Elpida was born in Sylikou village, Cyprus. The youngest of 5 children, she is predeceased by her parents Ioannis and Vasiliki Hatzittofis, her sister Eleni, her brother Andreas and her eldest sister Antigoni, who passed away on November 20, 2023. She is survived by her sister Christothea. She lived and attended school in Limassol, Cyprus. She married her husband George in 1972 and they moved to Canada that same year to start a life together. They began their story in Toronto where she attended Centennial College to study accounting. She dreamed of becoming a mother and upon the birth of her children, was a devoted mom and eventually a proud yiayia. She enjoyed cooking and baking delicious bread. On cold snowy days, more often than not, she found herself pulling out the flour and mixer. She will be fondly remembered by many relatives and friends.Show more

Palhetas Antonio Abel December 7, 1944 - November 22, 2023 It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Antonio Abel Palhetas, in the presence of his wife Maria Teresa after 55 years of marriage. He leaves behind his beloved wife Maria Teresa, his daughters Christina and Sandra his four grandchildren Patrick, Lucas, Kevin and Isabella and son in law Kenny. Sadly missed by brothers and sisters family and friends. Antonio Abel was a trained chef in Portugal, and worked as skilled welder in Canada. He loved working with his hands, be it his wizardry in the kitchen or skills as a handyman around the house. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye, and he was and remains a hero to his daughters.Show more

Delphine "Del" Cartagenise May 2, 1934 - November 27, 2023 Our precious mother, Delphine "Del" Cartagenise, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Monday, November 27, 2023 in her 89th year. Del lived a life dedicated to selflessness and compassion that touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Del is reunited with the love of her life, Raymond, with whom she spent 46 wonderful years. She is also reunited with her brother, Johnny, as well as her parents Joe and Pauline. She leaves behind her cherished children, Linda (Peter) and Neil (Catherine), who find solace in countless memories shared with their devoted mother. Del also leaves behind her beloved granddaughter Sydney, whose life will forever be shaped by the love of her doting grandmother. Additionally, she is survived by her sister Patricia. Del's memory will forever be cherished by those who remember her as the most loving and giving person imaginable. Her unwavering generosity knew no bounds - Del would give everything she had to anyone who asked without hesitation. Never once did anger consume her, instead, she radiated warmth and understanding in every interaction. In her free time, Del delighted in playing cards, bingo, and had a fondness for going to horse races. She also enjoyed gardening, which allowed her to be outside whenever she wanted. During her younger years, loved to go dancing alongside her beloved husband Raymond. She had a deep appreciation for music, with a particular fondness for old country tunes and Elvis Presley. Del also went on many exciting journeys to Las Vegas with both Raymond and her dear friends Camille and Doug (predeceased). The Cartagenise Family would like to extend their utmost gratitude to the personal support workers, and nurses at Bayshore, and the Credit Valley palliative home care team. A special thank you to the nurses, doctors, personal support workers, and volunteers at Hospice Vaughan for the wonderful care Del received and the comfort provided to her and her family in her last days. Loving wife of the late Alfred William Wilby for 50 years. Dear mother of Cheryl Whitworth and her husband Ted, and Dan Wilby and his late wife Janet. Grandma of Sherri, Jamie, and Katelyn, great-grandma to Logan. She is predeceased by her sisters Gwen Gilroy and Joyce Beggs and survived by her sister Margaret Cote and brother George McLachrie. Friends and family will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, Weston Chapel, 2035 Weston Road, on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 from 3:00-7:00pm. George Xynis

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Xynis, surrounded by his loved ones at Michael Garron Hospital on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at the age of 91. George is survived by his devoted wife of 74 years, Dimitra Xynis, aged 93, sons Demetre (Ernestina) and Thanasis, grandchildren Gabriela, Christopher, Dimitra, George and Konstantinos. Born in Xrisoxori Arkadias, Greece, on February 18, 1932. He worked as a shoe-shine boy and later learned the skills to become a pastry chef, a career that would carry him through his entire life. He opened his first bakery in Platia Koumoundourou, Athens. He laterimmigrated to Canada in 1964 to pursue a better life for his family. Immensely proud of his heritage, he became an active member of his beloved Greek Community, where he would open Akropolis Bakery on the Danforth. He became a Canadian Citizen on July 18, 1972. George loved nothing more than his career and life as a pastry chef, and his passion for the many travels back to his homeland and vacation home in Lagonisi, Greece. May his memory be eternal. We would like to share a special thank you to the caring staff at Nisbet Lodge and to the wonderful medical staff at Michael Garron Hospital for their continued care and support over the most recent months.Show more
