Rosemary "Rosie" DeMeyere, 86, formerly of Thief River Falls, MN, died on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the Valley Senior Living On Columbia, Grand Forks, ND. Funeral Service will be at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral service. Burial will follow the lunch at Greenwood Cemetery, Warren, MN. On February 9, 1937, Rosie was born to Daniel and Cecelia (Kasprowicz) Borowicz at the Warren Hospital, Warren, MN. She was baptized and later confirmed at Assumption Catholic Church, Florian, MN. Rosie worked on the Tamarac River Farm east of Florian with her seven siblings. She moved to Thief River Falls and worked several jobs, including the hospital, clinic, and the local laundry service. After her marriage to Ray DeMeyere at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Thief River Falls, she was the caregiver to Ray's mother for many years. Ray and Rosie loved to travel and went on may trips to Nashville, Branson, Rollag, and Goose Fest with their special friends Ray and Jeannie Nelson. Tuesday evening casino nights were enjoyed as well. Rosie loved to dance to country western music and she never missed a St. Bernard's Fish Fry. Rosie's peanut butter and date cookies were a sought-after treasure. Rose loved her time with the ladies at the card club and coffee club. She especially loved family reunions and spoiling her nieces and nephews. They all loved their "Auntie Rosie". Rosemary is survived by her siblings, special friends Jeannie Nelson, brothers-in-law Stanley and wife Lois, Art and wife Bonnie, sisters-in-law Margie and husband Larry, Rosalind and husband Clyde, Clarice, Caroline, Edna, and Susan, many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, along with Ray's extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents: husband Ray, brothers Richard and wife Vonnie, Robert, and wife Adeline; sisters-in-law Ida, Freda, Violet, and Vernice; and brothers-in-law Ted, Art, Russell, and Robert. A very special thank you to the staff at Valley Senior Living on Columbia for the compassion and love you showed for Rosie. The entire family is extremely grateful for the tender care you gave her. You are all a gift from God.

Funeral Service will be at 11 AM Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Westaker Free Lutheran Church, Newfolden, MN, with Pastor Kevin Hall Officiating. Visitation will be from 5 - 7PM with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Newfolden, MN. On June 30, 1948, Jonette was born to Carvel and Ruby (Garfve) Gillund at Thief River Falls, MN. Jonette grew up in Newfolden, MN, where she attended school. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith in Newfolden, MN. On November 14, 1964, Jonette was united in marriage to Wesley Staie, and to this union, they had three daughters--Paula, Pamela, and Priscilla. The family lived in the Newfolden area until the early 1980s when she moved to Thief River Falls with her daughters. Jonette began working as a dietary aid in the local hospitals. She continued to work there for 43 years until her health forced her to retire. Jonette met Gary Klemetson in 1998. They enjoyed life together for 25 years! She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was meticulous with housework and yard work and loved to keep things looking nice. Playing bingo at the VFW was a great pleasure for her. She enjoyed playing her accordion at home and during family activities. Gary and Jonette loved to travel to Edinburg, Texas, to see her daughter Paula. Gizmo and Sumo were her dogs who brightened her days. Jonette was a kind, gentle, and loving mother, grandmother, friend, and companion. Jonette is survived by her companion, Gary Klemetson, rural Thief River Falls, MN; daughters: Paula (Gilbert) Facsi, Edinburg, TX, Pamela (Scott) Melby, Greenbush, MN, and Priscilla Berg, Thief River Falls, MN; 8 Grandchildren: Andres Carreon, Victoria Carreon, Alexis (Jake) LaFontaine, Amanda Iverson, Brianna Melby, Kailey Melby, Nicole Sandahl, and Riley Berg; 13 Great-Grandchildren; Siblings: Gerald (Geraldine) Gillund, Middle River, MN, and Janice Schwartz, Thief River Falls, MN; many cousins, nephews and nieces. ObituaryFerrl Ranum, 95 of Thief River Falls, MN passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Sanford Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN. The service to celebrate Ferrl's life will be 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Mark Helgeland officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Military honors will be provided by the Ekelund-Holmstrom American Legion Post 117, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2793 and United States Navy Honor Guard. Ferrl LeRoy Ranum was born February 23, 1928 in New Solum Township, Marshall County, MN the son of John and Olga Christine (Olson) Ranum. He graduated in country school. On March 2, 1946, Ferrl was united in marriage to Eldora Elaine Knutson at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. Eldora passed away in 2002. Ferrl entered into service with the United States Navy on January 15, 1952 in Fargo, ND. He served aboard the USS San Pablo and his service took him throughout the world. Ferrl was honorably discharged on January 9, 1956. At that time he returned to live in Thief River Falls where he has continued to reside. Ferrl started work when he was 16 years old. He worked at various places in Thief River Falls including Soo Line Railroad, Nash Finch, Hartz Foods, Arctic Cat and Ace Hardware. He retired at the age of 85 years old. On February 3, 2003, Ferrl was united in marriage to Ann Marie and they continued to reside in Thief River Falls. The couple had a fantastic marriage and Ferrl was very proud to be a loving husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa. Survivors include his loving wife, Ann of Thief River Falls; Ann's daughters, Tammy (Donald) Roberts of Seattle, WA and Cindy (Ronald) Hodge of Lancaster, MN; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Hailey Ann Czapiewski, 28, of Thief River Falls, MN, died on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. Visitation will be from 2-4PM Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN. Burial will be at a later date. On September 24, 1995, Hailey was born to Michelle (Burkholder) and Paul Czapiewski in Grand Forks, ND. She lived in Thief River Falls until age 7 when she moved to East Grand Forks to live with her dad. Hailey moved to Fargo, ND, attending school until she was 18. In 2013, Hailey made her way back to Thief River Falls, where she met the father of her children. Hailey had her own mindset--being determined, helping others, caring, and having a calming effect on others. She worked at Pizza Hut for several years and took carry of children--she loved her children with all her heart. Hailey enjoyed music while driving and gathering with her friends and family. While at Eagle Lake, Hailey enjoyed swimming in the water and playing with others. Hailey is survived by her children: Averi Martinez, 9, Aubrie Martinez, 6, Ricardo Martinez Jr. , 5, and Amina Martinez, 1; bonus children: Jadacyn, James, and Romio Martinez; mother, Michelle (Darrell) Lussier, Viking, MN; father, Paul (Catrina) Czapiewski, Grand Forks, ND; siblings: Alexie Burkholder, Codie (Jazsmine) Burkholder, Jonah (Megan) Underdahl; Zachery (Ashley) Martens, Cole Czapiewski, Mikayla Czapiewski, Ashley (Luke) Wagner, and Dakota (Madeline) Green; grandmother, Patricia Parmelee, God Parents: Aunt Tracey Vincent, uncle Dave Johnson; numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins. Burial will be at Silverton Cemetery, Pennington County, rural Thief River Falls, MN. On May 22, 1942, Betty was born in Thief River Falls, MN, to Paul and Alma (Raasch) Siebert. She attended school in Goodridge, graduating in 1961. Following school, Betty was united in marriage to Harold Harder on October 12, 1963, in Thief River Falls, MN. Together, they made their home and farmed in Silverton Township, east of Thief River Falls, raising beef cattle and small grains. Betty became a resident of the Thief River Care Center in 2018. Betty worked at Arctic Cat for over 35 years. Betty loved anything to do with Avon - collecting all of their dishware, jewelry, etc. She enjoyed an occasional trip with friends and family. Betty enjoyed spending time in the Goodridge community attending various events. Betty was a compassionate, loving, and caring person who put others before herself. She always made time for her nieces and nephews and never forgot a birthday or special occasion. Betty was a longtime member of Silverton Lutheran Church. Betty is survived by her brother-in-law, Stanley Panek Jr. , Goodridge, MN; sister-in-law, Donna Siebert; several nephews and nieces, and friends. She is preceded in death by husband Harold Harder; brothers Raymond (Janice) Siebert, Kenny Siebert, Harold (Jeanette) Siebert, and Gordon Siebert; sisters Doris (Raymond) Dalton, Arlene Panek; one infant sister and two infant brothers. Allan Steenerson was born September 5, 1932 in Thief River Falls, the son of Clayton and Louise (Kvall) Steenerson. He attended Northrop School and Lincoln High School, graduating in 1952. He played hockey and football, receiving his first letter in the 8th grade. He spent 4 years with the Air Force, stationed at Newfoundland and later at Rapid City, SD. He was honorably discharged in 1956. On November 30, 1958, Allan was united in marriage to Deloris Roese at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. He worked in trucking, until retirement in 1993. Allan's favorite pastimes were fishing, deer hunting, and traveling with Deloris. Allan was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN, a member of the American Legion and the Eagles both in Thief River Falls. He is survived by his son Randy; grandchildren, Adam Qualley, Stephanie Berhow, and Angela Henderson. Eileen Rhen, of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023 at her home, at the age of 75. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN, with Rev. Kristin Ostercamp officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Saturday. Eileen Lynette Engebretsen was born in Crookston, MN, on May 17, 1948 to Hans and Irene (Wicken) Engebretsen. She grew up in Clearbrook, MN and attended and graduated from Clearbrook High School in 1966. From 1966 -1967 Eileen attended and graduated from Hibbing Vo-tech School for Medical Lab Assistant. On Good Friday, March 24, 1967 Eileen and Russell Rhen became engaged. They were united in marriage on August 19, 1967, and made their home in Clearbrook, where they were blessed with two children, Kaj and Nancy. Eileen was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Clearbrook where she was very active in the church choir, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the ladies circle. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #0256 for __ years and the Clearbrook Volunteer Fire Girls for 14 years. Eileen worked in the Public School as a dietary aide, baker/bakery manager for Granley's Fairway, and the Good Samaritan Center all in Clearbrook. In 1988 Eileen and family moved to Duluth, MN. They moved again in 1989 to Thief River Falls, MN, where she has resided ever since. While living in Thief River Falls she became a familiar face to many in the community while demoing various foods at Hugo's. Eileen was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, sang in the church choir, was active in circle, was co-chair for sharing servants, and served on church boards. Eileen was a volunteer and part-time employee at the T. R. F. Heritage Center. Eileen's family is the most important part of her life. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved her family dearly. Eileen enjoyed reading, sewing, counted cross stitch, fishing, gardening, Bingo, baking, and playing cards. Eileen is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Russell; children, Kaj (Winnie Austin) Rhen of Moorhead, MN, and Nancy Rhen of Ada, MN; granddaughter, Ava Grams; brothers-in-law, Gordon (Barbie) Rhen of Lake Wales, FL, and Rick (Renetta) Rhen of Clearbrook, MN; nieces and nephews, Jeff (Lorie) Engebretsen, Mike (Lynn) Engebretsen, Joann (Pat) Greendahl, Aric Rhen, Andrea (Dana) Johnson, and Mitchell Rhen; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Ike Ellingsen of Viking, MN, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at home with his loving family at his side, at the age of 86. A Visitation will take place from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also take place one hour prior to the Celebration of Life Service on Friday at Johnson Funeral Service. Hilmar John "Ike" Ellingsen was born on January 18, 1937 in Harlow, ND, the son of John and Rose (Syverson) Ellingsen. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith. Ike went to grade school in Harlow, ND and Viking, MN. He attended high school in Thief River Falls for one year, graduating from Newfolden High School in 1955. Ike was drafted into the United States Army in 1960. He was stationed in Germany. His original MOS was as a radio operator, but he spent most of his service as a pitcher for the Army Baseball Team "The Tankers. " The team was established to spread goodwill amongst the local people. Ike was honorably discharged in 1962. Following his time in the service he worked in Minneapolis for a couple of years before returning to Viking where he worked on the family farm and went to work for Lakehead Pipeline, where he worked until his retirement in 1992. On December 18, 1992 Ike was united in marriage to Cindy Olsen in Thief River Falls, MN. Together they made their home on the Ellingsen Family Farm in Viking. Ike was an avid hunter, fisherman, and all-around outdoorsman. He spent many happy days on hunting and fishing trips with his friends. Those memories were dear to him and often recounted. He was generous in sharing his wealth of knowledge about the outdoors with those close to him. He had a passion for raising and training hunting dogs. Ike also enjoyed bowling, golfing, trap shooting, reloading, gardening, and attending family events. Ike spent every spare moment providing an ample supply of wood for the winter. Ike believed in staying busy!Ike was a past member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the Newfolden Rod and Gun Club. Ike treasured spending time with his family and friends. He loved to visit, share stories, and laugh. If you went to see him, you never left hungry. He had a penchant for feeding everyone and everything. He was happiest at home with his wife, dogs, and cats, tending the fireplace and being loved. Ike was a gift to us all - a stellar human being who made our lives better for having known him. He is deeply missed, but remembered with joy. Ike is survived by his loving wife, Cindy of nearly 32 years; mother-in-law, Elody Olson; sisters-in-law, Cheri Hasbrouck (Dean Johnson) and Carole (Lonnie) Friesz; brothers-in-law, Chris (Christy) Olson, Craig Olson; nieces and nephews, Jordan Hasbrouck, Braedon Hasbrouck, Gary Hoffman, Glen Thomas Jr. , Linda Lysne, Kayla Wilson, and Kenya Bittner; and many great-nephews and friends. Memorial service will be 10:30 AM Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN. Burial will be at Rux Cemetery, rural St. Hilaire, MN. Lillian Ann Nordhagen was born August 17, 1931, on a farm near Rosewood, MN, the daughter of Olaf and Anna (Hemstad) Nordhagen. She was baptized and later confirmed on April 28, 1946, at Rindahl Lutheran Church, rural Viking, MN. She attended grades 1 through 8 at Willowdale District #2 near the family home and graduated in 1948, from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, MN. On October 31, 1948, Lillian married Floyd Rux in a ceremony at his parents' home, rural Thief River Falls. During her high school years, Lillian worked at JC Penney, Ben Franklin for 15 years and the Sales Barn for a short time all in Thief River Falls, MN. From 1968-1987, she worked at the AVTI and then retired in 1987. She and her husband lived in Thief River Falls until 1986, when they moved to their lake home at Union Lake, near Erskine, MN. The couple had a woodworking shop where they made a wide variety of items--from furniture to bird houses to lawn ornaments, which they painted and sold. They shared many items with family and friends. Lillian and Floyd truly enjoyed retirement at the lake. Lillian always had to have a flower garden and potted plants everywhere. Feeding birds, and an occasional squirrel was a passion for her. She also liked woodworking, traveling, and loved going dancing with Floyd. Survivors include children: Donna Cooper, Seattle, WA, Howard Rux, Casper, WY, Elodee (Kelvin) Aus, Bemidji, MN, and Loren (Karen) Rux, Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren: Paul (Nichole McAllister) Cooper, Leigh Ann Cooper, Nichole Rux, Ryan Rux, Kymn (Loren) Files, and Alicia (Matt Linman) Rux; great-grandchildren: Georgia and Reid Cooper, Audrie (Robert) Brooks and Autumn (Devin) Smith, Josie (Cody) Anderson, and Charlie Rux; great-great granddaughter, Presley Brooks; sister-in-law: Vivian Nordhagen, Central Point, OR; many nieces and nephews; and special friend: Dean Olson, Erskine, MN and Florence, AZ.
