"Rose Margaret (Nichols) Phillips was born on April 10, 1938, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was the oldest of eight children born to Violet Geneva (Alford) and Jeremiah Nichols. The family moved to Kansas during Rose's childhood. Rose and all her siblings had many treasured stories to share of all the good times they had living on farms, especially "The Rainbow Ranch. " Rose attended Central Middle School in Bartlesville and Neodesha High School in Neodesha, Kansas. She received her GED and attended Success Secretarial School in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She enjoyed a 20-year career at Metal Goods Manufacturing Company in Bartlesville. Her longest career was as a full-time mom. She was a caregiver for her younger siblings growing up and later in life when the need arose. Rose also formed a bond with her stepchildren, Carol, David, Lanae, and Chris, as a bonus mom during her marriage to their father. She still remains friends with them and their families. Rose raised her daughter as a single mother, then started over again at age 52, still a single mother, raising her great-nephew as her son. She also provided reliable, loving childcare for her granddaughter and other great-nieces and nephews, who consider her a bonus grandma. In her spare time, Rose enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking, and baking. She was a night owl and enjoyed late-night shopping trips, meeting family at Walmart, and late-night dining at the Kettle. Rose was very outgoing and loved interacting with people. She loved to travel, taking road trips and sometimes flights to visit new places. She also enjoyed camping, picnics, and fishing. Rose and her sister Grace often fished all night and slept all day on the weekends. She loved her family above all else and had a special, unique bond with her siblings. She was an honored guest at every extended family event or gathering, spicing them up with her wit and humor. Rose spent the last eleven years as a valued member of her daughter's (Kathy) and son-in-law's (Roger's) household, keeping the house in order and caring for and providing transportation for her granddaughter Ember. Rose leaves behind her daughter Kathy Clear and son-in-law Roger Clear, son Dallas Lewis, daughter-in-law Tisha Lewis, granddaughter Ember Clear, grandson Maxwell Lewis, sisters Donna Martin and Margie Lewis, brother Jeremiah Nichols, sister-in-law Janet Nichols and brother-in-law Marion Martin. Rose also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and long-time friends. Rose was preceded in death by her father, Jeremiah Nichols; mother, Violet (Nichols) Stokesberry; her stepfather, Richard Harvey Stokesberry; her sisters, Lucy Whaling, Irene Doggett, and Grace Plasencia; her brother, Everett Nichols; brothers-in-law, Joe Doggett, and Ernest Plasencia; nephews Gerald Lewis and Tony Doggett. Rose lived a phenomenal 85 years and will be missed by all who knew and loved her dearly. The support, prayers, kind words and remembrances from her friends and extended family are the greatest gift and greatly appreciated. If you choose to send flowers, Stumpff Funeral Home will hold them until the service. If you prefer to make a donation in lieu of flowers, the family has chosen two local organizations, Young Scholars of Bartlesville or Mary Martha Outreach. "
