Russell “Russ” Wayne Hardy, 77 of Clarksburg passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at his residence with family by his side. He was born November 20, 1946 in Clarksburg, son of the late William Franklin Hardy Sr and Jennie Elizabeth Winning Hardy. Russ attended Victory High School. He retired from Fourco Glass with over thirty years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and scratch off lottery tickets. He is survived by three children, Russell W Hardy Jr, Clarksburg, Stanley A Hardy (Erica), Reynoldsville, Gloria J Mano Raikes and husband Gerald Raikes, Fairmont; five grandchildren, Olivia Mano, Nate Hardy, Karlee Mano, Dylan Mano and Aidan Hardy; one great granddaughter, Madilynn Hardy and one on the way; brother, John Paul Hardy; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Lou Henderson Hardy on June 11, 2022; his siblings, Carl A Hardy, William F Hardy, Jr, Betty Jean Miles, James A Hardy, Harvey Hardy, Janet C Thornhill, Sharron H Hardy and Dale Forrest Hardy. Jeannetteanne “Jennie” Marie Shuster, 57 of Stonewood, WV passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024 at the Louis A Johnson VA Medical Center. She was born September 3, 1966 in Erie, PA daughter of the late Donald John Wood and Winifred “Winnie” Marie Horihan Hensley and husband John D Hensley III. Jennie graduated from Topeka West High School, Topeka, KS, Class of 1984, went on to serve in the United States Army for eleven years, with six of those years being a drill sergeant. Jennie later received an Associate Degree and two Bachelor’s Degrees. Jennie was a teacher for several years in Ohio and West Virginia. She was currently working as an Administrative Assistant at the North Central Regional Airport. Jennie was always involved in many activities from the Mountain Man Reenactments and Rendezvous, being a seamstress for the Rendezvous events along with many clothes the family wore. She was a member of the Ivory Mountain Brothers, secretary and treasurer of the Appalachian Rangers Muzzleloader Club, lifetime member of the WV Muzzleloader Association, Tomahawk Brothers, Metropolitan Owners Club of North America, and Harrison County Honor Guard. She collected black and white cows and loved time with her family and friends. Jennie is survived by her husband, Ronald Lee Shuster II whom she married on July 17, 2013; two sons, Jacob Lockman (Samantha), Marion, OH, Zachary Shaffer (Michaela) Columbus, OH; daughter, Amanda McCleese (Michael) Atlanta, GA and children, Quentin and Lillian; sister, Sophie Smith (Dan) Batesville, VA; niece, June Owin; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ronald Lee Shuster and Vonda Sue Crouser Shuster, Stonewood; several aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to her parents and stepfather, Jennie is preceded in death by a nephew, Ruis Owin-Brown. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024 at WV National Cemetery at 2:00PM with the Harrison County Honor Guard and US Army Honor Guard. Hipkiss, III and Lawanda (Fry) Hipkiss.In addition to her parents, she is survived by her son, Jacob K. Lewis; brother, Terry A. Hipkiss and wife, Renee; and niece, Hailee Whittington. She is also survived by her boyfriend, Steve Legnasky; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and special friend, Susanne Metz.Melissa was a 1993 graduate of Frankfort High School. She worked as a Safety Submission Associate at Viatris Pharmaceutical (formerly Mylan).Melissa’s greatest joy in life was her son, Jacob, whom she adored wholeheartedly. Alongside her son, she found immense happiness with her boyfriend, Steve, with whom she shared countless adventures riding four wheelers, swimming at Tygart Lake, and taking rides on country roads looking for deer. Mary Virginia Crowl, 69, of Davis, passed away on February 1, 2024, at WVU United Hospital in Clarksburg. Born on November 5, 1954, in Charleston, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Wilma (Arnold) Melkus.Mary attended Mountaineer High School. She enjoyed going to church at Davis United Methodist Church. She was a member of FOE #936 Ladies Auxiliary and a past member of the Rebekah's Lodge. Mary loved painting, cooking, baking and, most of all, spending time with her family and friends.Left to cherish her memory are four children, Melissa Scott and husband Pete of Davis, Holly Canfield and husband Howard of Sugarlands, Michele Crowl and partner Tommy Cooper of Dryfork, and Freddy Crowl and wife Holly of New Creek; eleven grandchildren, Cody Cussins and wife Sierra, Jordan Delsignore, David Scott, Derek Scott, Alexis Markley and husband Timmy, Haley Cussins, Marcus Crowl, Ryan Delsignore and partner Katie, Kaili Crowl, Hannah Cussins, and Allison Cooper; two great grandchildren, Rylynn Delsignore and Racelynn Markley; four siblings, Karl Melkus and wife Katrina, Edward Melkus, Nancy Criniti and husband Elvin, and Cathy Martin and partner Paul; a sister in law, Linda Melkus; along with a host of nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Thomas Melkus and Patricia Knotts.A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 2 to 5 PM at the Davis Fire Hall, 610 William Avenue, Davis. Danette Sue Carder, 56, of Clarksburg, passed away at her home on Sunday, November 19, 2023, following a lengthy illness. She was born in Clarksburg on April 13, 1967, a daughter of Daniel and Linda (Underwood) Carder, who survive Stonewood. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother, Scott Carder and his wife Lori of Bridgeport; two nephews, Danny and Brandon Carder; a special aunt and uncle, Vernon and Jayne Underwood of Bridgeport; along with several other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Danette was a graduate of R-W High School and Fairmont State College with a degree in Education. She was a school bus driver in Harrison County, and then moved to South Carolina where she drove school bus and also taught History and Civics. She loved her cats, and enjoyed reading, and feeding the birds and squirrels. A private interment was held by the family, and arrangements are under the care of Burnside Funeral Home, Bridgeport.

Kathryn G. Watkins was called home to God on February 26, 2024. She passed at United Hospital Center with family by her side. She was born February 17, 1954. She was the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Ruth G. Garrett. Kathryn was one of seven children. Surviving are her husband of 49 years, William K. Watkins; her daughter, Dr. Ruthanne M. Watkins and spouse Dr. Kristian M. Morrison, and their five children; her son, Gregory J. Watkins and spouse Shelby S. Watkins, and their two children; her daughter-in-law, Tammy Jo Watkins, and her two children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael G. Watkins. Kathryn was a Harrison County teacher for nearly 40 years and was a member of Simpson Creek Baptist Church in Bridgeport. She was a wonderful wife, mother, Gé-Maw, and sister. She will be truly missed. Ryan Gail Lantz, 52, of Clarksburg, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, due to a tragic accident at Liberty High School. He was born, November 30, 1971, a son of the David and Ronda Williams Lantz of Clarksburg.Surviving are his wife Kim Devericks Lantz, whom he married July 23, 1999; three children: Olivia Connor and her husband Colton, Broderick Lantz and his wife Camryn, and Miya Lantz; his grandchildren: Sebastian, Channing, Farrah, and Kennedy; his brother Philip Lantz and his wife Becky; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rhonda and Rodney McIe; nieces, Sophie, Graham, Brandt, Nicole, Elizabeth, and Chelsea; great-nieces: Emilie, Gracelyn, and Oryanna, and a great-nephew, Jayce; and his beloved dogs, Cammie and Koda. Ryan is also survived by his friends and coaching colleagues, A.J. Harmon, Basil Lucas, Bruce Carey, and Justin Noble, his many teaching colleagues, his church and church camp family, and all his students and players, past and present. He loved you all.Ryan was preceded in death by his biological father, Thomas Sutton, his grandparents, Gail and Ruth Williams, and his mother-in-law, Patricia McCarty.Ryan was a 1990 graduate of Liberty High School and a 1994 graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College. He returned to West Virginia Wesleyan and graduated with a Master’s Degree in 2013. He was a teacher at various schools for 11 years, most recently at Liberty High School where he taught journalism. He was an avid sports fan and coached many teams over the years including Mountaineer Middle School Football where he was the former head coach, Liberty Basketball, former head coach, also on the coaching staff for Liberty Football, RCB Freshman Basketball, and the Clarksburg Crush Travel Baseball team.In addition to his professional career with students, Ryan was the former Youth Pastor at Jewel City Church for 10 years and faithfully attended Judson Baptist Camp where he served as Camp Pastor in past years. He loved to mentor students in life and in faith. He was saved and baptized at the age of 8 and served the Lord and the church in many capacities throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by all that loved him.In keeping with his wishes, cremation services have been provided. The family will receive friends at Lifepointe Church, 2551 Buckhannon Pike, Mt. Clare, from 5-8pm, Friday and 2-4pm Saturday. A funeral service will be held at the church at 4pm, Saturday, with Pastors Aaron Morgan, Jeff Perine, and Tim Sandy officiating.
