"Barbara Ann Hawkins, 80, of Franklin, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Rhea and Walter Clyde Bush, a sister, Linda Goins and a great-grandson, Sterling Hawkins. Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Stan Hawkins, a daughter, Lisa Poteete (Phil), step-son, Chuck Hawkins (Cheryl), a step-daughter, Kim Kopp (Kenny), seven grandsons, Seth Hawkins (Bri), Connor Hawkins (Jewels), Nicholas Poteete, Nathan Poteete, William Kopp, Jack Kopp, and Charles Kopp, a granddaughter, Emily Kopp, three great-grandsons, Rush Hawkins, McCoy Hawkins and Palmer Hawkins, siblings, Jerry Bush (Connie), Sandra Bush Raymer (Russell), and numerous nieces, nephews and extended relatives. Barbara was a member at Christ Church. She was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked as a legal secretary for several large firms including Neal and Harwell. Her hobbies included traveling, golfing, fishing and spending time with family. Barbara was a beautiful person inside and out. She was always happy and often laughing so much it became contagious. Everyone who got to know her fell in love with her. The family cordially invites relatives and friends to visit on Wednesday, December 13th, 2023, from ten o'clock in the morning until the time of the funeral service at twelve o'clock noon at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road in Nashville. The committal will immediately follow, via an escorted cortege, at Christ Church Cemetery, 15478 Old Hickory Blvd in Nashville. Danny Ray Dodd, age 67 of Franklin, TN passed away December 7, 2023. Danny was a native of Williamson County and graduate of Franklin High School. He was the owner and operator of Dodd’s Lawncare where he took special care of his customers who loved him dearly. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and loved the outdoors. Preceded in death by father, William Alexander "Billy Zan" Dodd and stepfather, Ed Owen. Sally Leigh McCreery Philpot left this world December 8, 2023 in the arms of Jesus. Preceded in death by her parents Judge Harry L. McCreery and Eugenia McCreery; brother Harry (Michele) McCreery, Jr. ; her precious husband of 51 yeas O. E. Philpot and her beloved son Michael M. Philpot. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Philpot Watson (Don) of Murfreesboro, TN; daughter in law Robin Philpot of Searcy, AR; grandchildren Garrett (Bethany) Philpot and Chase Philpot both of Searcy, AR, Dalton (Madison) Philpot of Jackson, TN, Tatum Leigh Watson of Rogers, AR, Jay Everett Watson of Murfreesboro, TN; great grandchildren Bonnie and Deason Philpot both of Searcy, AZ; several nieces and nephews. Active Pallbearers will be grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers will be her birthday bunch for over 20 years, Nancy Merritt – her phone buddy for many years, and Gloria Martin of Pullman, WA – her childhood friend for over 80 years. Sally’s family would like to thank her Hillsboro Church of Christ family for over 45 years. They never forgot her even when she moved to Adams Place. Carolyn Leggett Overton, age 76, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the Claiborne and Hughes Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Franklin, TN. Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 1:00 P. M. in the Chapel of the Bells First United Methodist Church, with Mauricio Porras officiating, Chase Spradlin reading scripture, and special music provided by Nathaniel, Hannah, Jake Hulme and Claudia Spradlin. Burial to follow in the Belleview Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at the Bells First United Methodist Church from 11:00 A. M. until the service hour at 1:00 P. M. Mrs. Carolyn was born in Bells, Tn on September 20, 1947, to the late Bernard Clifton Leggett and Annie Floye Norville Hulme. She was a member of the Bells First United Methodist Church and worked many years at the Renasant Bank. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 10 years: Eddie Overton; one sister-in-law: Claudette Hulme; and one grandson: Eddie Cole. She is survived by one daughter: Anna O. James "Jim" Wesley Parnell, Jr. age 75 of Franklin, TN died suddenly and totally unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 due to the seeming results and complications from extreme weakness due to the combination of a-flutter and Eliquis (blood thinner). Thank you especially to the large group of Williamson County EMS that provided their expertise to try and change the outcome. He was born in Memphis, TN to the late James Wesley Parnell, Sr. and Florence Glenn Parnell. He attended grade school and high school, graduating in 1966, from a recently begun private school sponsored by the Church of Christ. The school was Harding Academy in Memphis, TN. He served in the Army Reserves for six years, and his draft number was #23. He was a graduate of Freed-Hardeman College, David Lipscomb College, and the University of Tennessee Knoxville where he received his law degree. Jim practiced law for 25 years in Franklin, primarily doing real estate work and representing utility districts. Jim was a Christian and member of the Church of Christ, and unquestionably believed in the Lord. He enjoyed archery, boating at Center Hill Lake, camping, canoeing the Ocoee and Harpeth rivers. He also enjoyed gardening on Stillhouse Hollow Road in Hillsboro, which now has become "Historic Leipers Fork". Jim had a good sense of humor and could easily entertain you. He is preceded in death by his younger sister, Sandy J. Parnell Hamlet. Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy Shipley Parnell of Franklin, TN; sister, Carolyn Parnell (Dwight) Sturm of Parkersburg, WV; brother, Ron (Virginia) Parnell of Atlanta, GA; brother in-law, Roger Hamlet of Manchester, TN; four nieces, four nephews and several grand nieces & grand nephews. Funeral service will be held 4:30PM Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home with visitation two hours prior to the service.
