Rosario Barcellona Obituary

Rosario L Barcellona, 102, of North Andover, MA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, surrounded by his loving family He was the husband of the late Lucia M (Calandriello) Barcellona, with whom he shared forty-seven wonderful years in marriage Born and raised in Lawrence, the son of the late Sebastiana "Nellie" (Marzullo) and Domenic Barcellona, Rosario attended Leonard School and later went into the "CCC" Civilian Conservation Core In 1942, he enlisted in the United States Navy proudly serving his country during World War II as a torpedo man on the USS J Richard Ward DE-243 Upon his return home, Rosario settled in Lawrence In 1947, Rosario and Lucia were married and began their life together, raising their family A well-rounded man, Rosario was a hard worker, something he learned at an early age while in the CCC During that time, he learned forestry work, built roads and bridges, and fought forest fires in the White Mountains of NH After his return home from his military service, Rosario took advantage of the GI bill and became a plumber, retiring from H J Welch Plumbing in North Andover In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, dancing, and cooking Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his family He was proud of all them, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren Rosario was predeceased by his son, Raymond D Barcellona, and his siblings Paul Barcellona, Gus Barcellona, and Rose Fields He is survived by his daughters, Dianne Barcellona-Wright and her husband Larry of Salem, NH, Joanne Comeau and her husband Duane of Sandown, NH; grandchildren, Dennis Comeau and his wife Kate Comeau, Stacy MacFarlane and her husband Jon, Zachary Wright, Trevor Wright and his wife Caleigh, Kelsey Guimaraes and her husband Felipe, Darcy Wright; great-grandchildren, Dominic Comeau, Zachary Comeau, Camilla Guimaraes; brother, Louis Barcellona; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins He is also survived by his long time companion Florence White In lieu of flowers, donations in Rosarios's memory may be made to Boston Cured Cancer Club for Laryngectomees, c/o Andre Charpentier, 13 Bryson Drive, Norton, MA 02766 Rosario's family will celebrate in life with a private gathering; those who wish to attend are asked to contact his family for further details
