"Rosalie Hignutt of Statesville, NC passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, NC. She was 83. She was born on May 6, 1940 in Bridgeville, Delaware, the daughter of the late Charles Elmer Dean and Edna Tull Green. She graduated from Bridgeville High School with the class of 1958. After her education, she married Harry Hignutt, Sr. and they made their home in Georgetown. He preceded her in death in 1994. She worked at the Stockley Center in Georgetown for many years before her retirement. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and puzzles. She is survived by a son, Harry Hignutt, Jr. and his wife Lori of Statesville, NC; a daughter, Regina Leigh of Bradenton, FL; three grandchildren, Trevor Hignutt of Statesville, NC, Christie Wiley and her husband Alston of Harmony, NC, and Stephanie Dougherty of Vermont; two great-grandchildren, Kamdyn Kyle Hignutt of Statesville, NC and Quinton Elijah Dougherty of Vermont; and one brother, Raymond Dean in Farmington, DE. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by 12 of her siblings. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 11:00 at the Framptom Funeral Home - Fleischauer Chapel in Greenwood. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery near Federalsburg. Ms. Irma Jean Rivers, 77, was born in Adel, Georgia on September 7, 1946 to the late John Henry Rivers and Carrie Mae Morris Rivers. She departed this life on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. After graduation, Irma attended trade school at Davie County Training School. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a machine operator at Cannon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Rivers; and her two sisters, Pauline Rivers Dillard, and Frances Allison. She leaves to cherish the memory of her life, two sons, Kalvin Kolbert Rivers of Statesville, NC, and George Zebadee Rivers (Naketa) of Salisbury, NC; one daughter, Carrie A. Rivers of Raleigh, NC; siblings, John Russell Rivers of Statesville, NC, Elizabeth Rivers of Statesville, NC, Bernice Rousour, and Jimmy Neil Mayfield both of Cleveland, Ohio, and Vivian Wright of Manassas, VA; two special nephews, Shawn (Amanda) Ellis, and Demond (Juanita) Sharpe; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 1:00 p. m. at The Living Church, Statesville, NC. Mr. Fredrick Alexander "Jake" Safriet, 97, of Statesville, NC, died Thursday, November 23, 2023, at Catawba Valley Medical Center, in Hickory, NC. He was born on May 30, 1926, in Rowan County, NC, to the late Arthur Eugene and Effie Mae McDaniel Safriet. Mr. Safriet was a faithful member of Yadkin Baptist Church, in Statesville, NC, where he served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, Music Director, and on numerous committees. He was a faithful husband, a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and neighbor. Mr. Safriet graduated from Woodleaf High School, in Rowan County, in 1945, and from Catawba College, with a Business Degree, in 1947. He was employed by J. C. Penney Distribution Center, in Statesville, NC, where he worked for 41 years, retiring in 1988. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Shirley Stikeleather Safriet; five sisters, Thelma Gentle, Ethel "Tom" Mayhew, Lorene West, Gladys Safriet, and Dorothy Hensley; and two brothers, Bill Safriet, and Aaron Safriet, who was killed in action during World War II. Survivors include two children, Dianne Pollock (Ralph), of Columbia, SC, and Rev. Rick Safriet (Kim), of Lenoir, NC; five grandchildren, Chad (Christy) Pollock, Christie (Jodi) Davis, Jonathan (Michelle) Safriet, Jana (Brady) Soop, and Jason (Kaylin) Safriet; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Dink Safriet (Tammy), of Salisbury, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p. m. , on Tuesday, November, 28, 2023, at Yadkin Baptist Church, Statesville, NC, with Rev. Jamie Fox, and Rev. Philip Crider officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service from 1:00 p. m. until 2:00 p. m. , at Yadkin Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jake's name to Yadkin Baptist Church, 2980 Wilkesboro Hwy. , Statesville, NC 28625, or to Carolina Caring Hospice Care of Catawba County, 3975 Robinson Rd, Newton, NC 28658.
