Rosa Burris Barbee 95 of Oakboro died Saturday Evening, September 9, 2023 at Hospice of Union in Monroe. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Oakboro Cemetery. Rev. Barry Whitley and Rev. Gary Cox will officiate. Mrs Barbee was born July 31, 1928 in Stanly County to the late Eugene and Essie Hinson Burris. She was a graduate of Ridgecrest High School and a retiree of Stanly Knitting Mills and was of the Baptist Faith. She is survived by her son Reed Barbee and wife Michelle of Oakboro, daughter Rhonda Cilento of Asheville, daughter-in-law Patsy Barbee of Oakboro. Seven grandchildren, Brett Barbee, Amber Lowry (John), Lori Elliott (Daniel), Tommy Gregory, Josh Gregory (Somer),Heather Huneycutt (Heath) and Dylan Gregory. Ten great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence John Barbee, her son, Bernard John Barbee, her granddaughter, Lisa Cilento, brothers, Julius, Grant and Carl Burris, sisters, Sarah Davis, Margaret Curlee and Merene Burris. Phyllis M. Jones, 99, formerly of Union City, Indiana, passed away early Monday evening, July 11, 2022, at Parkvue Healthcare Center in Sandusky. Phyllis was born October 17, 1922, in Sandusky, OH, to the late Charles and Sadie (Schmidt) Klepper. Phyllis grew up as a member of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ and graduated from Sandusky High School. She was an amazing homemaker who was completely devoted to her family. Phyllis was a wonderful cook, baker, and gardener. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bridge, golf, and being social. She was also a huge Purdue University fan and would watch any sport for the opportunity to cheer on her Boilermakers. Phyllis had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed life to the fullest. Phyllis is survived by her grandson, Ryan Jones of Indiana; nephews, Frank (Nancy) Bahnsen of Sandusky, Ronald (Becky) Klepper of Utah, and Thomas (Laura) Klepper of Huron; nieces, Sharron (Roger) Robinson of Huron, Georgia (Robert) Simpson of Michigan, and Kathy (Lynn) Sartor of Sandusky; godson, Jeffery (Joy) Bahnsen, and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and other loving relatives. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Howard H. Jones, who passed away in 2007; son, Charles Jones, and 5 siblings, Ralph, Esther, Edmond, Glenn, and Beatrice. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 23rd at 10 am at St. Stephen United Church of Christ, 905 E. Perkins Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870.
