D'Aun Edmunds

D'Aun Edmunds

Age - 74

December 10, 2023

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, D'Aun Terry Edmunds. Surrounded by the love and warmth of her family at home, she peacefully departed from this world on December 6, 2023. D'Aun journeyed to heaven after bravely facing glioblastoma, reuniting with her beloved son, Devin, who left us on September 30, 2023, both touched by the challenges of cancer. D’Aun was born on July 20, 1949, in Lynwood, Los Angeles County, California, to proud parents Grant Wycliffe Waggoner, Jr. , and Marjorie Marie Waggoner (McAninch). She shared an inseparable bond with her cherished younger sister, Darryl. Growing up in the San Gabriel Valley, they were enveloped in a world of cinematic wonder, with their parents instilling a love for movies and music. The Waggoner family's adventurous spirit saw them embark on a journey to explore all 50 states—a dream realized by their dedicated mother. D’Aun and Darryl traveled the world together, enjoying countless celebrations and holidays. They loved entertaining, always up for a party! D'Aun's educational journey was marked by distinction. She graduated from Montebello High School in 1967 before earning a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics/Fashion Design from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1971. Continuing her academic pursuits, she achieved a Master's degree in Home Economics/Fashion Design from The Ohio State University in 1972. D'Aun and David celebrated 52 years of marriage, a union that began in June 1971. In July 1971, D'Aun and her devoted husband, David, made Ohio their home. Their love brought forth two beloved children, Devin (1977) and Darrin (1980). Her two boys, Devin and Darrin, were the center of her universe, and she poured her heart into actively participating in their lives. No ballgame or event was ever missed during their formative years, as she passionately supported them in every endeavor. As a family, they made many memories making cross- country trips to California in their camper van. D’Aun had a distinguished 30-year teaching career at Greenon High School. From the very start, D'Aun's classroom was more than just a place of learning; it was a warm haven where every student became a part of her extended family. Like a caring "Mother" to each of her students, she fostered an environment where every individual felt loved and important. Her passion for Home Economics and the Vocational Program left an indelible mark on countless lives. D'Aun's commitment to education went beyond the conventional, and her dedication was acknowledged with the prestigious National Board Certified Teacher Award in 2001. Her impact extended far beyond the classroom, and even after retirement, it was a common occurrence for past students to approach her in public, fondly sharing memories of their time with Mrs. Edmunds. These encounters were a testament to the lasting influence she had on shaping young minds and the enduring connections she formed with her students. After concluding her fulfilling teaching career in June 2003, D'Aun and David embarked on a new chapter, retirement. They bid farewell to their cherished home on Old Mill Rd. , exchanging it for a new home they designed in Maineville, Ohio, nestled near Kings Island. D’Aun became an active presence in the community's homeowner’s association, serving as its president for five years. Together, they set sail on many cruises and tour adventures across Europe and South America. In a heartwarming twist, 2015 saw their return to Yellow Springs, where they lovingly designed and built another home, this time in close proximity to Darrin and Leslie for added family support and the joy of watching their grandchildren grow up. Her greatest source of joy was being a devoted "DD," a nickname lovingly bestowed upon her by her grandchildren. Her affection for her grandchildren—Harper, Albany, Arlie, and Grant—knew no bounds. She attended every milestone, energetically cheering them on at school activities and sporting events. With unwavering enthusiasm, she meticulously planned birthdays and holidays to ensure they felt truly special. She reveled in the art of creating magical moments, whether it was dressing her granddaughters in exquisite outfits and heels, twirling and dancing with them, or engaging in the delightful world of crafting and painting. As we remember D'Aun Terry Edmunds, let us cherish the legacy of a woman whose pride and love for her family and commitment to education knew no bounds. May the stories of her warmth, generosity, and boundless love continue to resonate, bringing comfort to all those who were touched by her remarkable presence. D'Aun is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, David Edmunds, her son and daughter-in-law, Darrin and Leslie Edmunds (Springfield, OH), and her daughter-in-law, Erica Edmunds (Bellbrook, OH). She leaves behind a legacy in her grandchildren: Harper, Albany, Arlie, and Grant. D'Aun is also survived by her cherished youngersister, Darryl, and brother-in-law, Michael (San Jose, CA), and their children, Chris, Ty, and Nikki. A Celebration of Life will be held at Clem&Thyme Nutrition on Saturday, December 16, 2023, from 5-7 pm. The address is 4359 E. Enon Road, Yellow Springs, OH 45387.Show more

William Warren

William Warren

Age - 81

November 28, 2023

"And the things you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also" (2 Timothy 2:2). On November 24, William David ("Dave") Warren was welcomed Home to Glory by his Savior – whom he trusted for his salvation as a young boy. The only boy with four older sisters, he was raised by a single mother after her husband left the family when Dave was just one. His mom remained faithful to the Lord, pulling Dave in a wagon to church in the summer and on a sled in the winter. Dave remembered sitting on a piano bench beside his mom while she played for services. His childhood pastor became a mentor, teaching him to watch the words of hymns for biblical accuracy and giving him opportunities to preach even as a teenager. "Patty," his loving wife of 60 years, entered his life in high school when they met at a Bible Club. He later became president, and she, the Quiz Captain. They were also part of Voice of Christian Youth (the Detroit chapter of Youth for Christ), and the group’s leaders became Dave’s mentors. Dave was a graduate of Taylor (Michigan) High School (1960), Cedarville University (1964), and completed a Master of Theology in Old Testament Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1968. In 1998, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity by Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. He began a life of faithful ministry that spanned more than 50 years, serving first as pastor of Champion Baptist Church in Warren, Ohio, from 1968 to 1976, followed by four years as a professor at Faith Baptist Bible College (1976-1980), then 18 years at Cedarville University (1980-1998) specializing in pastoral ministry courses. While serving as a professor, he also maintained an active itinerant preaching and teaching ministry in college chapel, local churches, camps, and conferences across the nation and at times internationally. His love for the local church and pastors made him a natural candidate to become the state representative for the Ohio Association of Regular Baptist Churches (1998-2016). He referred to himself as the "designated friend" of the pastors and churches. From 1999 through 2020, he also served on the Board of Trustees of Cedarville University. To those who took his classes, he was a favorite professor known for his WWWs ("Warren’s Words of Wisdom"), singing before class, his quick wit, and his ability to make complex topics memorable. To those who sat under his preaching, he was a favorite speaker who spoke without notes and taught the Word using memorable outlines and clear applications. For the pastors he mentored, he gave godly counsel and constant encouragement, and he walked alongside them during the challenges of ministry. With a passion to help others be successful, he was truly a pastor to pastors. What others saw in public, Dave lived with integrity in his own home. He was a faithful, selfless, and loving husband and father. His family remembers his sense of humor, his shopping trips for "the necessities" (Coke, Oreos, and potato chips), his generosity and hospitality, his presence in his kids’ and grandkids’ lives, and his love for all-things Ohio. Whether setting up a tent in a thunderstorm or hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains, he led a full and joyful life. He is survived by his wife Patricia; children Janice (Ed) Supplee of Cedarville, Ohio; Cheryl (Steve) Brugel of Grand Rapids, Michigan; David (Michelle) of Denver, Colorado, and Mark (Darcie) Warren of Huber Heights, Ohio; grandchildren Ben (McKenna) Supplee; Matthew (Madeline), Lia, Elli, and Janae Brugel; Sydney, Alec (Franny), and William Warren; and Noah, Molly, Sadie, Emma, and Ezra Warren. He is also survived by 3 sisters – Helen de la Garza and Rosemary Miskelly from Detroit, Michigan, and Caroline Smith of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dave and Marlene Gaffner of Cedarville, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Caroline Warren, his sister Ruby Hunter, and his beloved in-laws Oscar and Nadine Schonscheck. Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday, November 28, from 4-7 p. m. with a Celebration of Life service on Wednesday, November 29, at 10 a. m. , both at Grace Baptist Church, Cedarville, where Dave was a long-time member. He will be laid to rest at North Cemetery. Arrangements in care of Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center. Memorial contributions may be made in Dave’s memory to The W. David and Patricia T. Warren Family Scholarship at Cedarville University (251 N. Main St. , Cedarville, OH 45314 or cedarville. edu/WarrenMemorialGift). The scholarship benefits children of Ohio pastors who attend Cedarville University.Show more
