MEYER, LINDA L. of Waterford; March 2, 2024; age 84; Loving wife of the late Otto; Dear sister of Ronald and Karen, and preceded in death by Mary Jane, John, Dean and William; Also loved by many nieces and nephews; Survived by her beloved golden doodle, Mandy, and preceded in death by her boxer, Brandy. Mrs. Meyer was a member of the Pontiac Waterford Elks Lodge #810, the Flaming Pistons Car Club, and the Clarkston Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #3373. She was proud to be a Master Gardener and was an avid golfer. She enjoyed having a glass of wine and, of course, the finer things in life. Funeral Services will  be held on Friday, March 15, 2024 (time pending) at the Riverside Chapel, Simpson-Modetz Funeral Home, 5630 Pontiac Lake Road, Waterford. Interment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the Michigan Humane Society.

Brother in law of Diane Hernandez (late Luis) and the late Dr. Janice Runkle; Uncle of MacAndrew, Michael, Keelah and the late Elizabeth. Mr. Casselman owned Cassel Home Improvement and was retired from Energy Savers. He was a member of the Builders Association, was an Eagle Scout, Boy Scout Leader and served as the area Chairman and Cultural Chairman of Families for Children. He attended Royal Oak Dondero High School and was on the wrestling and hockey teams. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church, 3882 Highland Road, Waterford. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Riverside Chapel, Simpson-Modetz Funeral Home, 5630 Pontiac Lake Road, Waterford. Interment Acacia Park Cemetery. ENGLUND, HELEN M. (née Vidlund) of Waterford, passed away March 1, 2024 at 91 years of age. Loving wife of the late Joel for 62 years; cherished mother of Robert (Monica Jones) Englund and Karen Collom; dear grandmother of Rochelle, Lauren, and Livia; great grandmother of Carter; sister of the late Robert and Clarence Vidlund. Helen retired from GM Truck & Bus in 1991 after over 25 years of service. She was an active member of the Red Hats, member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and Gloria Dei Church. She and husband Joel were social butterflies and enjoyed golfing, bowling, and enjoyed every opportunity to gather with friends. An independent woman, Helen was always there to care for those in need. Though her family will dearly miss her we know she is now with the love of her life. Patricia J. Stretten of Waterford, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 78 years of age. Patricia was born on July 2, 1945 in Hillsdale, Michigan to Robert E. and Elizabeth J. (nee Rick) Gregory. She graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1963 and received her Bachelor of Science from Eastern Michigan University in 1968 where she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma and Mu Phi Epsilon sororities. After graduation, she was an elementary teacher for 13 years for Wayne-Westland Community Schools and Whitney Bloomfield Schools. After her teaching career, she worked for Allnet Communications for 11 years and was honored with many customer/productivity awards including winning three trips. In 2012, she retired from Raytheon Professional Services after 15 years of Aftersales Training for General Motors International Product Center. She is survived by her husband, Ivan J. Stretten, III. Children, Laura (Steve) Losey, Susan (Jim) Niestroy, Ivan, IV (Diann) Stretten and Coleen Stretten. Eight Grandchildren, Matthew Losey, Megan (Ben) Nicol, Morgan Losey, Kendall (Nick) Mermuys, Eric Niestroy, Nathan Niestroy, Ivan Stretten, V and Natalie Stretten. One brother, Michael (Mary Jane) Gregory. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elizabeth Gregory. Her happiest times were spent with family and friends, retirement years in Northern Michigan and Florida and in her travels around the world with her beloved husband, Ivan. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

Aloysius (Al) Sarniak

Aloysius (Al) Sarniak passed away two months shy of his 100th birthday. He was a proud World War II veteran having honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps. After his service he returned home to marry the love of his life, Lottie Warzbok. Together they raised a family of four. Al started out working as a painter then moved on to become a fire fighter with the Wayne, MI fire department. After sustaining some injuries fighting a fire, he became a journeyman electrician with the Ford Motor Company. After his retirement he remained active, putting to good use his skills as an electrician as well as his many other handy work skills helping out family and friends. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix or build. Al was preceeded in death by his wife Lottie and daughter Sandra. He is survived by his daughter Kathleen Swarthout and sons Michael and Clifford (late Linda Leon) Sarniak. He is also survived by his grandsons Robert (Joanne) Swarthout and Thomas (Sujin) Swarthout, his three cherished great grandchildren Logan, Emily and Haley as well as his sisters Irene Person and Ann Andreas and many nieces and nephews.Al remained dedicated to his family and friends throughout his lifetime, always willing to lend a helping hand as long as he was able. He was deeply loved and will be missed but never forgotten. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Riverside Chapel, Simpson-Modetz Funeral Home, 5630 Pontiac Lake Road, Waterford. BONE, PAUL DAVID of Waterford formerly of White Lake, Michigan, died on February 23, 2024. He was 87. Paul was born May 13, 1936 in Coalmont, Tennessee to the late Samuel and Lillian (nee: Mooney) Bone. He married his late wife, Mary Jo on June 3, 1967 in Suttons Bay. He is survived by his one daughter, Rebekah (Terry) Campbell; two sons, David Bone and Paul (Patricia) Kirkendoll; one grandson, Nathan Campbell; numerous great grandchildren; he was the last of 18 brothers and sisters. He retired as a die setter from G.M. Also, a member of the UAW. He loved to hunt and fish and had several hunting, Beagles. A celebration of his life will take place on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at VILLAGE FUNERAL HOME, 135 South Street, Ortonville, Michigan. Pastor Joe Jean, officiating. Family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Final resting place will be Beaver Creek Twp. Cemetery, Grayling.
