Ronald "Head" Thomas departed this life on Tuesday October 3, 2023, at AMG Specialty Hospital in Houma, LA. He was 71, a native and resident of Thibodaux, LA. Visitation on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Williams & Southall Funeral Home, Thibodaux, LA from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. Visitation on Friday, October 13, 2023 at Moses Baptist Church from 9:00am to religious services at 11:00am. Interment private. Survived by his wife, Martha T. Thomas; 1 son, Melvin J. Ballard, IV; 3 daughters, Shenell T. Johnson (Isaac), Lolita Jones, and Tanya Flugence; 3 brothers, Lloyd, Larry, and Michael Thomas; 1 sister, Lois Thomas-Jospeh; 3 sisters-in-law, Norma, Lucille, and Tammy Thomas; 1 uncle, Herbert Alexander; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Emelda, and Louis Thomas, III; 1 sister, Diane T. Martin, and 2 brothers, Raymond and Lionel Thomas. Horace Joseph Thibodaux, age 78, a native and resident of Thibodaux, passed away on November 26, 2023. A memorial visitation will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Thibodaux on December 9, 2023, from 9:00 a. m. until mass at 11:00 a. m. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elaine Webre Thibodaux; daughter, Trisha Clements (Drew); son, Ryan Thibodaux (Amanda); brothers, Gerald Thibodaux (Anne), Lionel Thibodaux (Carolyn), Randy Thibodaux (Shelia), and Tommy Thibodaux(Heidi); sisters, Barbera Von Aspern (Leo), Priscilla Oncale (C. J. ), Mary Thibodaux, and Penny Thibodaux; grandchildren, Gavin Clements, Aidan Clements, and Chloe Thibodaux. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace M. Thibodaux and Theresa Orgeron Thibodaux; sister, Linda Billiot; brother Mark Thibodaux; and In-laws, Edward L. Webre and Ora Molaison Webre. Horace was well known for his professional role in the community and had a long and successful career with T. Baker Smith and after retirement as an independent business owner. His titles over the years included Vice President of Environmental Services, Environmental Professional, and Chief Sanitarian. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Louisiana Environmental Health Association. He was a huge mentor to many people. Horace was highly respected by his colleagues and had a wealth of knowledge in his field. He loved nature, especially bird watching. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Elaine, his kids, and their families. His three grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was known for his jovial nature, always ready to tell a joke or play a prank. He had a kind heart and would do anything for anyone. He leaves with us lasting memories of joy and laughter. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to St. Genevieve Catholic School 807 Barbier Ave. Thibodaux, LA 70301.
