Houston “Doodle” Haynes, age 82 of Guston, KY passed away on February 29, 2024 at Norton’s Hospital. Mr. Haynes was a long time member of the Salem Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and trustee. He worked at Olin Chemical for 16 years, then was Truck Driver for 25 years as an employee of Liquid Transporters, Mitchell Transport, Trimac Transportation and Active Transportation where he retired as a member of Teamsters Local 89. He enjoyed Little League Baseball as a player, coach and umpire. He was an avid fan of U of K Basketball and Dodgers Baseball. After retirement, he was an avid Rook Player at the Buck Grove Rook Parlor almost every day. On weekends, he loved to play and show Antique tractors, especially his dad’s 1948 H Farmall and his cousin’s John Deere. He was born on September 5, 1941 in Brandenburg, KY, the last of 5 children born to the late Herbert and Alliene Haynes. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings Herbert Ray Haynes, May Haynes Johnson, Lawrence Haynes, and Fay Haynes Whelan as well his granddaughter, Megan Lorraine Haynes. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce McCoy Haynes, his sons; Thomas Houston (Heidi) Haynes and Allen Dale Haynes (Sue Durbin). His Grandchildren, Sydney Haynes (Steve Wheatley), Austin Haynes, Madison Haynes (Brandon Forbes) and Tyler (Savanna) Haynes and one Great Granddaughter, Annsley Lorraine Haynes. Survivors also include Brothers and Sisters -n- Law Arlene Haynes, Gene Whelan, Jim and Dianne McCoy, Mike and Denise McCoy, Jim and Lisa Miller and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Salem Baptist Church with Revs. Garry Hicks and Chuck Rhudy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Hager Funeral Home from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, and at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday. Pallbearers will be Sydney Haynes, Austin Haynes, Madison Haynes, Tyler Haynes, Mike Hurt, and Chip Robinson. Honorary Pallbearer is Annsley Lorraine Haynes. Mrs. Melissa "Missy" Robbins Whalen, age 54, of Hanover, Indiana entered this life on April 21, 1969 in Williamstown, Kentucky. She was the loving daughter of the late Charles Allen "Chuck", Sr. and Brenda J. Scroggins Robbins. She resided nearly all of her life in Jefferson County and was a 1987 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. On August 29, 1988 Missy was united in marriage to Kenneth G. Whalen, Jr. in Carrollton, Kentucky. This happy union of 35 years was blessed with sons, Christopher Allen, Kenneth Glenwood "Tray", III, and Charles Wayne, and a daughter, Samantha Jo. She worked for Holiday Inn Express as the assistant manager for 20 years. She later had worked for Clifty Inn State Park at the front desk, then for Murphys-Wal-Mart for two years as manager, and then for Circle K as an assistant manager and currently was working for Speedway as the manager. She was an avid UK Basketball fan, enjoyed fishing, camping, racing, the Madison Regatta, playing softball and volleyball, and dearly loved being a Mamaw. Missy died on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at 12:11 a.m. at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. A LOVING FAMILY Missy will be missed by her loving husband of 35 years, Kenneth G. Whalen, Jr. of Hanover, Indiana; her sons, Kenneth Glenwood Whalen, III of Hanover, Indiana, Charles Wayne Whalen his wife, Kiersten of Madison, Indiana; her daughter, Samantha Jo Whalen McRoberts and her husband, Corebin of Dupont, Indiana; her grandchildren, Maylee Jo Frances Whalen, Savannah Jo Lee McRoberts, Carson Leroy McRoberts, Kylee Jo Whalen, Anizlee Jo Lee Whalen, and Charles Allen Glenwood Whalen; her brother, Allen Dale Robbins and his fiancee, Amber of Hanover, Indiana; her sister, Daffney Lynn Rowlett and her husband, Joshua of Madison, Indiana; her sister in law, Theresa Michaud of Bedford, Kentucky; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Allen "Chuck" Robbins, Sr. died May 29, 1986, her mother, Brenda J. Scroggins Robbins, died August 20, 2020, her son, Christopher Allen Robbins, died May 25, 2011, her brother, Charles Allen Robbins, Jr., died November 28, 1969, her maternal grandparents, Grover J. Scroggins and Doris M. Brinson Scroggins, her paternal grandparents, Robert Callis Robbins, died May 25, 1983 and Nellie M. Knoebel Robbins, died June 28, 1976, her father in law, Kenneth Whalen, Sr., died November 1, 1989, her mother in law, Norma Whalen, died October 1, 2007, and her infant twin half sisters. Martha Eller Abbott

Martha Eller Abbott, passed away peacefully on February 29, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Asheville, NC on June 30, 1931, she was the only child of Deane Hill Eller and Susan Moore Eller. After moving to Louisville, her parents built a house next door to Lakeside Swim Club, where Martha was a member of the synchronized swimming team. She continued her membership most of her life. Martha was a graduate of J. M. Atherton Girls High School and the University of Louisville where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish. She was a housewife until her early forties. At that time, became employed by International Life Insurance and, later, Aetna Life and Casualty as a claims liaison for the Kentucky Retired Teachers until her retirement. Martha, a lover of the arts, supported the Louisville Orchestra, Louisville Ballet, Kentucky Opera and many other choral groups. She loved to travel, play bridge, the Highlands, the Louisville Cardinals, the library, her family, friends, and dogs, especially poodles. She was a wonderful cook. No one could duplicate her recipes, especially her recipe for Party Mix, because she always substituted ingredients. St. Paul United Methodist Church was the bedrock of Martha’s faith where she was a member for over 80 years. During this time she enjoyed being a member of the Motet Singers and Chancel Choir. She also volunteered in the church office and on other committees. After selling her home of 50 years, Martha moved to Miralea, Masonic Homes. She loved Miralea, the employees, and the many friendships she made over the last eight years. Her children are grateful for the love and support she received at Miralea. Martha is survived by her five children, Ann Lyons (Keith), Susan Abbott, Leslie V. Abbott III, Lyle Abbott (Tammy), and Alice Abbott- Moore (Jim). She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Sara Nelson (Shane), Clayton Lyons (Rachel), Leslie V. Abbott IV, Laurie Abbott, William Abbott and her four great-grandchildren, Thomas Nelson, Cynthia Nelson, Nina Lyons, and George Lyons. Sassy, Martha’s beloved poodle, who her children believed was her favorite child, preceded her in death. Martha, Mommy, Mother, Mopsy was so loved by her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren and is already deeply missed. All are grateful for the many gifts she instilled in them. Visitation will be held on March 7 from 10:00 am at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2000 Douglass Blvd. A service will begin at 11:00 am followed by a private burial. "Michael L. Peterworth, 58, passed away on March 2, 2024. Born in Louisville, KY, on July 3, 1965, to the late JoAnne and Anthony Peterworth Sr., Mike was a man who loved life and his family deeply. He married his soulmate, Christine Hadorn, and together they raised their children, marking 25 years of love and laughter. Mike was a huge University of Kentucky fan. He loved being outdoors, whether it was being captain on his boat or camping at the lake. He thought of himself as a great dancer and was always the life of the party, ready to make his family and friends laugh. Spending time with his loved ones and his dogs, Booker and Baxter, was everything to him, and he made sure to cherish every moment. A member of the St. Bernard Catholic Community, Mike\u0027s faith was important to him. He leaves behind his wife, Christine, their children, Trevor Peterworth (Kelsey Druin) and Evan Peterworth (Kayleigh Worth), and his brothers, Anthony Peterworth Jr., Joseph (Angie) Peterworth, and David (Charity) Peterworth. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews, Megan (Stu) Baskett, Casey Peterworth, Taylor Burress, Grace Peterworth, and Logan Peterworth. Friends and family can visit on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 3-8 PM at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 7500 Tangelo Dr, Louisville, KY 40228. His funeral mass is on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 12:00 PM at St. Bernard Catholic Church, followed by cremation. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Mike."

Mary Ann Hall - loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, faithful friend, and impassioned educator taught her final lesson in life on February 29, 2024 at the age of 74. Mary lost her battle with cancer on her terms with her two greatest loves, Lorrie and Rob,at her side. Mary was an extraordinary woman and those who knew her, knew her greatness. She would never see herself as exceptional, but her family, friends, and a multitude of students can attest that she was. She genuinely sought to bring out the best in all she touched. She never took pride in her success but was always prideful of seeing her students and family succeed. She truly was a beautiful soul. Mary was born an educator. She taught in the Catholic community for over 50 years with her longest term held with Trinity High school. If she wasn’t at home with family or watching her Fox News, you could find her at Trinity. Her main calling in life was to help those with learning differences succeed and countless did with her magic touch. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret (Kahafer) and Reese Hall, and her siblings Vickie and John Hall. She is survived by her daughter Lorrie (Joe) Salcedo, son Robert (Michelle) Staley, grandchildren Brittany (Ray) Stovall, Brandon (Taylor) Clark, Medley and Jasper Staley, Gabe and Julius Salcedo, and great-granddaughter River Clark, her sisters Sandy (Gary) Ramey and Jennifer (Mike) McCleve, brother Reese (Theresa) Hall, her Trinity family, and a host of nieces and nephews. Survived by her children Gary Wilson (Donna), Danny Wilson, Richard Wilson (Teresa), Jeffrey Wilson (Patricia), Lisa VanHaverbeke (John); 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, sister Rebecca Thomas, extended family and friends.
