Marsha Chisum

Marsha Chisum

Age - 84

December 5, 2023

On December 3rd, 2023, Marsha Christine Keller Chisum, age 84, passed away at home with her family beside her. It's not easy to distill a lifetime to a few sentences. Marsha was a student of the second graduating class of Charlotte Catholic High School in 1957. She remained in contact with her classmates from as far back as first grade. This southern belle never expected to stray much further than Charlotte, until she met a handsome GI in Myrtle Beach in 1958. Six months later they married, and the adventure of her lifetime began. From small-town Charlotte, they eventually traveled to Guam, Europe, and Idaho before returning home in the '80's. Marsha was an original member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Mint Hill and remembers when the church was located in a tiny storefront. She sang in the choir for over 35 years, until recently, when she no longer had the breath to send her songs to the heavens. Church is where she found her peace. Marsha was a talented artist and even sold pieces to Disney in the '90's. She enjoyed reading, watching Duke basketball, and playing golf. Family was her passion. She is survived by her husband of nearly 65 years, Jim; her soul sister and brother, Bob and Judy Handy; her daughter, Donna; and her sons, Doug (Gina), Rob (Anita), and John (Maria). She loved her children but she really loved her grandchildren: Ashley (Chris), Noah (Kelsey), Garrett (Emma), Jake (MJ), Brennen, Rachel (Josh), and Hannah (Vince). She really really loved her great- grandchildren: Madison, Bailey, Clara, Layla, Stevie, and Alice. Marsha was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Alice Sasseen Keller; brother, Navarro Keller; and granddaughter, Sarah Chisum McCorkill. A visitation for Marsha will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 9800 Fairview Rd, Charlotte, NC 28227. The committal will immediately follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road Charlotte, NC 28212. In lieu of flowers or donations Marsha just asks you to love your family with the passion with which she loved us.Show more
