Ronald H. Cochran, 70, also known by Ronnie, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, on September 8, 2023. Born on April 29, 1953, in Newark, Ronnie spent his formative years in Keansburg before moving to Union Beach in 2007. Ronnie was predeceased by his parents, Roscoe and Marilyn Cochran, his wife, Simone Cochran, and his sister, Denise Ziegenfuss. His life will continue to be celebrated by his long-time companion, Mary Shank of Union Beach, his five brothers, Thomas (Pam) Cochran of Pennsylvania, Raymond Cochran of Toms River, Roscoe Cochran of Ocean Township, James (Donna) of North Carolina and Dennis (Karen) Cochran of North Carolina. He is also survived by his three sisters, Regina Cochran-Kopec (Richard Kopec), Carolyn Cochran of Middletown, and Robin (Bobby) Kelly of Middletown, and his brother-in-law, Thomas Ziegenfuss of Pennsylvania. Ronnie's many nieces, nephews, and extended family members will miss him dearly. Ronnie was a steadfast and dedicated worker, as a maintenance and janitorial worker for Keansburg High School. His commitment to the community also extended to his role as an active crossing guard for Union Beach, where he ensured the safety of the town's children with a warm smile and a friendly wave. Beyond his work, Ronnie enjoyed visiting Atlantic City, and was known as an avid Bingo player, often bringing joy and laughter to those around him with his infectious enthusiasm. He loved spending quality time with his family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished by all who knew him. Ronnie's zest for life was evident in his love for his family. His laughter was a sound that could brighten any room. Above all, Ronnie was a man who found happiness in the simple things in life. In remembering Ronnie, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love and laughter and the joy he brought to those around him. He was born and raised in Hopelawn and lived in the Woodbridge area before moving to Brick 16 years ago. Alexander proudly served in the United States Air Force. Lawrence George Alworth, 76, a resident of Lincroft, New Jersey, peacefully departed this world on Tuesday, November 28th, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, surrounded by his cherished family. He was born in Upper Montclair, NJand resided in NJ for the majority of his life. Lawrence earned his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Manhattan College. Dedicating a portion of his life to serving his country, Lawrence was a proud member of the National Guard from 1970 to 1976. His professional journey led him into underground construction, where his passion and determination culminated in the establishment of his own company, Alworth Associates Inc. A devoted father, Lawrence actively participated in his children's lives, coaching little league baseball and softball, and guiding their all-star teams . His love extended to his grandchildren, and he found joy in daily interactions, personally taking them to school and attending their sporting events. A communicant of St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church in Lincroft, Lawrence exhibited his devout faith by attending daily morning Mass at St. James Church in Red Bank. Preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence W Alworth and Jane Connell Alworth, Lawrence is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Virginia Sachse Alworth, his son Christopher Alworth and daughter-in-law Jennifer, and his daughter Jennifer Alworth Ward, her husband Mathew, and their children Parker William and Jordan Isabella. A Mass celebrating Lawrence's life will take place on Thursday, December 7th, at 10 am at St. James Church in Red Bank, NJ. Maguire in New York City. She was the wife of the late Tony DiMiceli who died in 1995, she was also predeceased by her sisters Mary Basile, Mildred Vitale and Sadie "Bunny" Luzzi. Surviving Louise are her devoted daughters Rosalie "Lia" DiMiceli and Dina L. Striano and her husband John. Also surviving are her cherished grandchildren Stefanie Assaro and Nicole Assaro. David B. Crotty, 60, of Neptune, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Dave was born in Neptune and resided in Neptune City before moving into his home in Neptune 31 years ago. He was a graduate of Neptune High School and went on to graduate from the New York Institute of Technology with a degree in Architecture. He was employed by the U. S. Department of the Interior as the Facility Manager at the Statue of Liberty for almost 20 years. He had also worked at Kelly’s Tavern, Neptune City, for many years with his brothers and close friends. He was a lifelong fan of the NY Giants and Yankees, but his real pleasures in life included gardening, long bike rides, and spending time with his beloved family on the beach. Dave was predeceased by his parents Vincent J. Jr. and Claire (nee Wauters) Crotty, and two of his brothers, Vincent J. Crotty, III and Paul F. Crotty. Surviving is his devoted wife of 32 years, Rita (nee Price) Crotty, whom he dated since they were 18 years old. His 2 beloved children, Elyse M. Crotty and her significant other, William Brunner of Jacksonville Beach, FL, and Colin D. Crotty and his fiancée, Abigail Reinhard of Amelia Island, FL, his dear sister Grace A. Slattery of Columbia, MD, his brother Christopher R. Crotty and wife Danni of Gurnee, IL, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Fern Gail (Pixie) Butterbaugh of Neptune, NJ passed away on Sunday, November 19,2023. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family at Hackensack MeridianHospital. Her long-time pain and suffering are now over. Fern was born on December 13, 1956, in Staten Island, New York to Fern (Davidson) and Kenneth Butterbaugh. Soon after, her maternal grandmother nicknamed her "Pixie"-a name remained for family and friends for the rest of her life. Her father, being a career serviceman in the US Army, Fern traveled extensively throughout the United States as a youth, a probable reason for her "adventurous" spirit! After many assignments and relocations her family moved to Wall Township in 1970 and she remained at the Jersey Shore area for the remainder of her life. A 1975 graduate of Wall High School, Fern attended Brookdale Community College and Nursing School becoming a LPN working for the next 25 years. She was employed at JSMC and Community Hospital in Toms River as well as several nursing homes and private duty nursing as well. Fern was a two-time cancer survivor, retaining a vibrant, fun-loving spirit that could make her the lift of the party or just make any gathering more like a party! She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, nurturing house plants of various types, soap operas and romance movies & novels. Fern was predeceased by her father Ken in 2008, her mother Fern in 2020 and her husband Francisco Ramon earlier this year. Fern is survived by her only sibling, her loving sister, best friend and advisor-Nannette Miles and husband Mark Miles, her niece Alicia Crosby and husband Brien and her nephew Mark Miles Jr and wife Lauren. She is also survived by her great nieces and nephews, Marlee, Hunter, Emerson, Bryson and Ashlyn. As important, are the many relatives and friends that she remained in contact with although separated by distance or situation. She was born in Orange, NJ and lived in Belleville, NJ for 40 years before moving to Neptune Township in 2002. Mary graduated from Clifford J. Scott High School, East Orange and worked for New Jersey Bell Atlantic Company, Newark, NJ. , she also worked for Sherman MFG Company and General Instrument Company both of Orange, NJ. Mary is predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph Bottitta in 2016, her siblings Carmella Evangilista and Carlo De Iuliis. Surviving are her loving children Roxanne Naturale (Anthony) and Michele Slazyk (William), her cherished grandchildren Kimberly Campbell (August), Brittany Menna (JC) and John M. Cornelius Pronek

Cornelius "Neal" Pronek, 88, of Farmingdale passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 18, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Neal was born, raised, and lived in Brooklyn, NY until settling in Farmingdale with his wife and six children in 1972. He entered Saint John's University in New York at age 16 and interrupted his education for military service in the United States Marine Corps before graduating with honors In 1959, Neal fortuitously met Lorraine. They were married in 1960 and remained devoted to each other for 63 years. Neal worked for TFH Publications, Neptune City, for over forty years, serving as their Managing Editor for the majority of his career. Upon his retirement in 2000, his co-workers composed an "Ode to Neal," subtitling it their "pitiful bleating protest. " He was a devout Catholic and an active parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Farmingdale, as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Neal was an author and voracious reader with a particular interest in World War II, as well as a connoisseur of old movies and even older music. His hobbies included woodworking/creating craft items, playing chess, poker and billiards, fishing and keeping tropical fish, and he took his horseshoe game to a championship level. Neal reveled in the telling of a lengthy joke to a captive audience and routinely and spontaneously entertained his family and friends with song and dance. Neal ensured his six children enjoyed games of chance and sports, playing and coaching along with them, instilling in them a competitive streak and a penchant for trash-talking apparent in each of them today. He was known as the man who brought stickball to Farmingdale, presiding over numerous neighborhood games for decades. Neal was predeceased by his sister, Joan "Nona" Pronek. He is mourned by his wife, Lorraine; children, Neal Pronek and his wife, Sarah, Eileen Neff and her husband, Thomas, Eugene Pronek, Thomas Pronek and his wife, Elaine, Christine Pronek, and Elizabeth Miller; grandchildren, Kellyn Neff and her husband, Malachi McMullen, Veronica Neff, Benjamin Pronek and his fiancee, Victoria Sibons, Andrew Pronek, Brennan Miller and Gavin Pronek. Neal also enjoyed the strong family affection of step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. While it is a fact Dad's editing would have produced a far better obituary, we wrote this with love. Lorraine Schulz of Brick, NJ, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2023 at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. She was 86. Born in Perth Amboy to John & Marie Sevak, Lorraine met and married her beloved Ronald Ernest Schulz in 1959. A proud woman of faith, Lorraine was a charter member of Holy Spirit RC Church (Good Shephard Parish) in Perth Amboy, and since retiring to Brick was a parishioner of Sacred Heart in Bay Head. Lorraine worked as a bookkeeper for both Welin Davit (Perth Amboy) and W. R. Grace (Fords), but her true passion was wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her. Lorraine leaves her husband of 64 years Ronald Ernest Schulz; son David & his partner Paige of Stratford, CT ; grandchildren- Zachary, Sarah, Jarrod & Owen; as well many loving friends. William Mego Jr

William A. Mego, Jr. , 88, of Howell Township passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Bill was born in Fair Haven and raised in Red Bank. He had lived in Eatontown, Walpack, Neptune, and Ocean before settling in Howell in 2003. Bill proudly served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960 and in 1961 married the love of his life, Loretta. Together they raised three children who learned the value of hard work and perseverance through their parents' example. One of his children's favorite memories focused on Bill's baseball talents. In their childhood neighborhood, kids from streets away would grab their gloves awaiting "Mr. Mego" to hit baseballs to each amid a narrow street lined with cars and houses - never once causing damage - and he did it both righty and lefty! He retired in 1984 as a mechanic for Firestone in Red Bank with over 35 years of dedicated service. Bill was a die-hard sports fan, cheering for his Jets, Mets, Islanders, and Devils. He was a loyal friend, a loving father and a dedicated husband with a singular focus of spending time with his family and doing what it took for them to enjoy annual vacations together. Bill was predeceased by his mother Margaret and father William Mego Sr, his brother and six sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Loretta; three children, William A. Mego, III and his wife, Jean of Eatontown, Donna Mego-Horowitz and her husband, Stanley of Howell, and Charles A. Mego and his wife, Paula Jean of Woodstock, GA; five grandchildren, Courtney Mego, Megan Mego, Kendall Horowitz, Danielle Mego, and JT Mego. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and was a former member of the Ocean Township Quilting Club.
