Oakwood, Illinois - Carol Sue Butcher, 83, of Oakwood, Illinois passed away at 12:45 am on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at the Autumn Fields Assisted Living, Tilton, Illinois. Carol was born November 17, 1939, in Danville, Illinois to Carroll Oliver and Mae Elizabeth Liggett Weir. She married Robert "Bob" James Butcher on November 8, 1958 in Danville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 25, 2012. Surviving are: one son: Todd (Debbie) Butcher of Oakwood, Illinois; two daughters: Kelly (John) Adams of Champaign, Illinois and Susan (Brad) Strickler of Virden, Illinois; five grandsons: Kyle (Cheyenne) Butcher, Audey (Laura) Lake and Christopher Lake, Andrew (Kayla) Strickler, and Grant Strickler; four great-grandchildren: Luca, Haylee, Braxton, and Weston; one brother-in-law: Harold Dolbee of Oakwood, Illinois; one sister-in-law: Ida Mae Butcher of Bourbonnais, Illinois; and two nieces: Beth Fellows and Laura Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother: David Weir; and one sister: Linda Dolbee. Carol graduated from Danville High School in 1957. She worked for the Oakwood School District for many years. Carol had also worked for Magnavox in Danville, Illinois and had once owned the Possum Trot in Oakwood, Illinois for a few years. She enjoyed her knitting group and traveling. She loved spending time with her family. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Autumn Fields Senior Living in Tilton, Illinois, Traditions Health Hospice, Forsyth, Illinois, the Danville Carle Oncology, and the Urbana Carle Digestive Health. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Robison Chapel in Catlin with Pastor Robbie Ketcherside officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation is from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Robison Chapel, Catlin.
