Jan Dunn, 73, passed away peacefully at home November 23, 2023 on Thanksgiving morning surrounded by his family and pets. He was born in Queens, NY but quickly became a Jersey boy, growing up in Brick and Interlaken before settling in Cranford. He was a music aficionado who could often be found playing his pedal steel guitar, discussing Van Morrison or Lyle Lovett, and dancing in the kitchen with his wife. The only thing he loved more than his family were his pets. Neighbors came to recognize him as the man with the pugs and belt-bag adorned with dog treats. He was constantly involving himself with activities for his children and grandchildren, whether it be coaching basketball, learning horseback riding and ice hockey terminology, or following the Providence College sports teams. He earned his Ph. D. in Speech and Hearing Sciences at City University of New York and became the Chief of Audiology and Speech Pathology at Brooklyn Veterans Affairs Medical Center. During this time he was instrumental in the start-up of the Brooklyn Child Care Incorporated program for hospital employees and pioneered the hospital's computerized patient record system. He was a Professor of Statistics at New York University, but he was also a self-taught mechanic/plumber/carpenter. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Zivka, and his brother, Bart. Teresa Lopez

Teresa Lopez

Age - 83

November 6, 2023

Teresa (Terry) Lopez was born on February 13,1940, in Harlem, New York. She was adopted and loved by Carmen and Manuel Gonzales and was a treasure to her family - brothers Manny and Joseph as well as her sisters Dixie, Gloria and Gina. Vivacious and outspoken and way ahead of her time, her family was everything to her. A fierce protector, she would never tolerate anyone disrespecting her family. She had no fear of speaking her mind, whatever the consequences would be. She was that real. She loved to travel and visited Egypt and Israel with her sister Gloria and traveled to Puerto Rico with her sister Dixie. A lover of music and dance, we often had dance parties at her parents apartment in New York and have memories of her singing Beatle Songs with her nephew Benjamin, who had become a professional musician. She had a great ear for harmony. Terry was a dog whisperer. Her family often said that she should have been a veterinarian or in some kind of animal training business. Dogs just seemed to understand her. . she eventually started a dog sitting business which she was extremely successful at. . . . they all loved Terry. She worked in a factory on an assembly line for many years but started developing arthritis, which eventually took her out of the workforce. Terry was such a brave and fearless person who devoted her life to taking care of her ailing parents/siblings in her later years. She had no limits to her love and devotion to them. An inspiration to all who knew her and loved her. Eventually her rheumatoid arthritis and kidney failure took her health and life away. Having fought so hard to be with her loved ones, she blessed us by slipping away peacefully in her sleep and being transitioned to the next dimension/heaven, if you will, by her predeceased sisters Gloria and Gina. She had a profound effect on anyone who met her and was so proud of all her family's successes. She will always be an eternal light within all of us. God Bless you, Fern, for showing the world what beauty, grace, strength, truth and unconditional love was all about. She is in her Joy and deserves every bit of it. Looking forward to seeing you sometime in the future. You are and were the true deserves every bit of it. Looking forward to seeing you sometime in the future. You are and were the true definition of Love. My Angel is home at last.Show more
