The family of Rolfe Newton Coons, 77, born November 9, 1944, to Norma Jean Thompson Coons and Robert Newton Coons in Lebanon, Indiana, announce his death on June 21, 2022. Rolfe was a rebel who was loved by many, respected for his protective instincts, appreciated for his wide-ranging knowledge, and animated by his stubborn independence. He leaves behind a large and extended family to mourn his passing and to share stories of Rolfe around the dinner table and campfire. Rolfe celebrated all the solstices during the year, so his passing on the summer solstice seems appropriate. Rolfe graduated from Lebanon High School and Wabash College. He was one of the first National Teacher Corps members, teaching at Harry E. Wood Middle School, Indianapolis, Indiana, in the late 60's. He went on to be Treasurer Vice President of the Empire Wood Company in Bloomington, Indiana, Paralegal/Special Investigator for Achrem Associates in Las Vegas, Nevada, eventually returning to Bloomington until his death. His many children (in no particular order) Heather Barkley, Sariah Morgan, Thor Coons, Nina Suchaenk, Lacia Coons, Serene Coons, Aluna Fessler, Rod Coons, Glory Shore, Nova May, Princess Cramer, Precious Cramer, Josiah Coons, Zephyr Cramer, Uno Coons, their spouses, 32 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and foster son, Brian Otwell will gather to memorialize his life. Arrangements have been made with The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, Bloomington, Indiana, and friends are welcome to send condolences to the family.
