Roland "Ray" Mazzilli, age 97, of Somerdale, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, September 1, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Roland was born on December 5, 1925 in Camden, NJ. He was the son of the late Isabela and Giuseppe Mazzilli and the youngest of 7 siblings. He is survived by his devoted wife Ida (nee Belperio) Mazzilli of 61 years and his loving children Rolana (Don), Joseph (Helen), and David (Danielle) and his cherished grandchildren Gary (Shara) Good, Stephen (Christine) Good, and Nicole, David, Alexa and Gianna Mazzilli. Roland is also survived by his beloved great grandchildren: Giavana, Antonio, and Nico Good. Additionally, he is survived by his sister-in-law Grace Forster and brother-in-law Michael (Josephine) Belperio along with many loving nieces and nephews. Roland was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed his years working for the Federal Defense Department for the United States Government where he formed lifelong friendships. His leisure love was traveling with his wife Ida. They visited 6 continents, countless countries and cities making their way back to their ancestral towns in Italy. They met up with distant relatives and made new friends along the way. Once they returned from one trip Roland was planning their next adventure. They enjoyed each other's company and were the best travel companions. Roland loved his music, dancing, pasta and playing cards. In his later years, he formed relationships with his wonderful caretakers and would tell stories and give them some of his heartfelt advice about life. Roland was truly grateful and appreciative for all they did for him during this time. Most of all, Roland was a family man who loved his children and grandchildren. He was devoted to his wife, his life and his family home that was built by his parents. He lived his life to the fullest every single day and will be missed by all who knew him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Roland's viewing on Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish - St. Luke Church located at 55 Warwick Rd in Stratford, NJ. Funeral Mass to follow at 11:30 AM. Burial to immediately follow to Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Roland's honor to the NJ Hospice or a Veterans organization of your choice.

Elizabeth N. "Betty" Hinkley, a talented pianist and beloved member of her community, passed away on August 24, 2023 in Somerdale. Born on February 26, 1931 in Upland, Indiana, Betty's life was characterized by her passion for music and dedication to her loved ones. Betty was renowned for her exceptional piano skills and generously shared her talent with others. She took great joy in providing private piano lessons, nurturing the musical abilities of aspiring musicians. She also served as the pianist for the Good Shepherd Class at the First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia, where she provided beautiful melodies that uplifted the hearts of those who attended. Outside of her musical pursuits, Betty had a sweet tooth like no other. She had a particular fondness for visiting Dairy Queen, indulging in their delectable treats. Her love for these sweet delights was known by all who knew her. One of Betty's proudest accomplishments was her dedication to researching family history and genealogy. She meticulously pieced together the intricate puzzle of her lineage, unearthing stories of resilience and strength from generations past. Additionally, she devoted time to studying, and writing books about, Bible prophecies, finding solace and wisdom within its teachings. Betty's warm and caring nature extended to her relationships with her family and friends. She cherished every moment spent with them and held them close to her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Ila Parker Sandberg; as well as her beloved husband, MIlton C. Hinkley; grandchildren, Lauren and Christopher Hinkley; and brothers Eugene and Jess Sandberg. Her memory will forever be cherished by her six sons - Stephen (Kathy) Hinkley of Dover, Phillip Hinkley of Newcomerstown, Paul (Debbie) Hinkley of Florida, Michael Hinkley of Newcomerstown, Jerry (Cathy) Hinkley of Somerdale, and Brandon Hinkley of Kensington. She is also survived by her brother Leonard (Naomi) Sandberg of Michigan; sisters Lillian Tew of Texas and Lila Bradley of Michigan. Betty's legacy is carried on by seven adoring grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 16th starting at 9:15 am in the Dover Burial Park. Following the interment of ashes, the family will be greeting friends at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center from 10:00 to 11:00 am with a celebration of Betty's life beginning at 11:00 with Pastor David Millard officiating.Show more
