Roggie Lewis Hunter passed away unexpectedly on September 29, 2020, at his home in Spotsylvania, Virginia at the age of 71. He was born in Lebanon, Tennessee on March 24, 1949. He spent his youth in Tennessee until he joined the United States Air Force (USAF) in 1968 and served on active duty for 20 years with overseas and stateside assignments until his retirement in 1989 as a Master Sergeant. He again chose to serve with 10 more years of civil service through the United States Department of the Army until retiring again in 2001. He was awarded the USAF Achievement Medal, AF Outstanding Unit Award w/2 Oak Leaf Clusters (OLC), AF Good Conduct Medal w/5 OLCs, National Defense Service Medal, AF Overseas Short Tour Ribbon w/1 OLC, AF Overseas Long Tour Ribbon w/3 OLCs, Longevity Service Award Ribbon w/4 OLCs, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Military Education w/1 OLC, Small Arms Marksmanship Ribbon, AF Training Ribbon, and several Civil Service Awards.
