Ryker Schlichtman

Ryker Schlichtman

Age - 8

August 19, 2023

Ryker Allen Schlichtman, a spunky, fun-loving little boy, was born August 3, 2015, and completed the family of Dan and Nicole. Taken too soon, Ryker passed on August 9, 2023. Born in Hebron, NE, Ryker was the biggest baby out of his three older siblings, and he grew into a personality that was equally as big. He was as tough as nails and didn't back down from a single wrestling match with his older brothers and sister. Even more memorable though, was Ryker's infectious laugh that showed his dimples well. In his short life, Ryker made a big impact on those around him. He was well known at his school and had many friends that he liked to ride bikes with, play at the park, and even blow-up firecrackers with when no one was watching. Ryker also loved hanging out with his dad, sitting on his mom's lap, and playing Fortnite with his brothers and sister. He always had a goofy grin on his face and loved his family immensely. They created several family memories through road trips, fishing, rollercoaster rides, and many laughs and hugs shared. Ryker will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Ryker is holding hands with his mother, Nicole, as they join heaven together. He is survived by his Dad Daniel Schlichtman, Brother Hayden Schlichtman, Sister Laelynn Schlichtman, Brother Jase Schlichtman, Grandparents Christopher and Lynne Pavelka, Grandma Patricia Schlichtman, Uncle Matthew Schlichtman and Jessica, Uncle Chris Pavelka and Octavia, Aunt Tara Splattstoesser and Isac, Uncle Nathan Pavelka, Great-Grandmother Diane Walz, Great-Grandfather Frank Schlichtman, Great-Grandparents Patricia and Richard Manke. Ryker was preceded in death by many loving grandparents. A funeral service will be held in honor of Nicole and Ryker on Thursday, August 24th at 10:30 AM at the Davenport School. Born on October 21, 1992, in Aurora, NE, Nicole started her life as a fighter while enduring open heart surgery at only 6 weeks old. Her fight and love for life showed through her actions and how she treated those around her. Nicole accepted everyone into her heart and never judged a single person she crossed. Bryant McGill said it best, "You will be a beautiful person, as long as you see the beauty in others," and Nicole did just that. Nicole was an exemplary example of hard work and dedication. She recently graduated from SCC with her LPN license while also raising her children, working, and keeping her fiance, Dan, in line. Nicole also had a love for animals, keeping dogs, puppies, cats, and even a pet pig as companions. Most important of all, Nicole and her high school sweetheart, Dan, created a beautiful family together with four wonderful children. She treasured the time they spent fishing, going to the lake, family vacations and having barbecues. The greatest title Nicole ever had was being called, "mom. Paul Grupe

Paul Grupe

Age - 81

June 13, 2022

Paul Douglas Grupe, age 81, was called to his final homecoming on Friday, June 10. He was born Dec. 17, 1940 in Deshler, Nebraska to Helen Catherine (Meyer) and Paul H. Grupe. Doug was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church which he attended his entire life. Doug had a love for athletics. He was on a state champion baseball team as a youth and followed the NY Yankees. He played varsity football in high school and cheered for the Green Bay Packers (even in the lean pre-Brett Favre years) and the Huskers (maybe he can put in a good word for this season). One of his favorite sports was track and he attended Husker indoor and outdoor meets for many years. Following high school, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served his country with honor as a radio operator. He liked watching the Army/Navy football game and I bet you can guess who he rooted for. Doug also loved the outdoors. He and Naomi were active in Blue Birds Across Nebraska for many years. He trapped, hunted, and fished - lucky you if you went to one of his fish fries! The "Bird Man of Alice St" raised purple martins for the neighborhood to enjoy although they may not have enjoyed the literal fallout quite so much. He gardened, tended fruit trees, and made a mean jar of sauerkraut. Doug was married to his loving wife, Naomi (Willmore) for 56 years. Together they raised four children: Shelly Thomas, James Grupe, Paula (Bill Beavers) Grupe, and Barry (Krissy) Grupe. He loved their 7 grandchildren: Amanda (Bob) Wellman, Joshua Thomas, Sarah (Isaac) Hoesing, Emily Grupe, Helen (Eli) Cline, Jacob Novak, and Kristopher Beavers; and cherished their great-grandchildren: Ashlyn and Carson Wellman, Wyatt, Nolan and Myles Hoesing, and Haven and Waylon Cline. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Emily Grupe. Services will be held on Friday, June 24th at 11:00 a. m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Deshler. Memorials to Blue Birds Across Nebraska or the Nebraska Game and Parks. Ahrendts Funeral Home of Deshler is assisting the family with arrangements. www. priceurbauerahrendts. com.Show more
