Virginia Fulton

Virginia Fulton

Age - 78

December 3, 2023

Virginia is rejoicing today in the presence of her Savior. She went home to be with the Lord on November 30, 2023, at the age of 80 where she joined her husband of 60 years, Glenn Fulton. Virginia was the fourth child of Oscar and Rhoda Bishop. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Fulton, her parents, Oscar and Rhoda Bishop and her siblings, Geneva Stinson, Allene McCormick and Troy Bishop. She is survived by four children and their spouses: Donny (Amber), Susan, Sharon (Jason Crouch) and Tim (Stefanie); ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Virginia Jo Bishop was born at home on November 8, 1943, in Dunbar, TX to Oscar and Rhoda Bishop. As a child, she was called Jo. When Jo was 12 years old, her father passed away. A few months later, she and her mother moved to Sulphur Springs, TX. Because Jo's mom did not know how to drive a car and all of Jo's siblings were older than her and already out of the house, Jo's older brother, Troy, taught her how to drive her Dad's car. So at the age of 12, Jo could be seen driving her mother around town. Later in life, Jo would talk about how the police of Sulphur Springs had to know that she was only 12 years old, but she was grateful that they always turned a blind eye and never gave her a ticket! Her senior year in high school, they moved to Texarkana, where in 1962, Jo graduated from Liberty Eylau High School. After graduating high school, they moved to Oak Cliff where Jo worked at Gifford Hill doing office work to support herself and her mother. In the summer of 1963, Virginia Jo met the love of her life, Glenn Fulton. They were married 3 months later on October 18th in Oak Cliff, TX. Glenn passed away this year just a few months before their 60th wedding anniversary. Together they were blessed with four children. They lived in Arlington and then Garland, TX before moving in 1972 to Howe, TX. All four of their children attended and graduated from Howe where Virginia was very involved in the local school district. She would make desserts every month to celebrate the teachers' birthdays. She was a Room Mom and helped with class parties for her kids' classmates, was involved in PTA, the Band Boosters Club, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and more. She and Glenn started attending the Sherman Church of the Nazarene in 1975 and are members till this day. A woman of faith, she loved serving in the church. She taught children's Sunday School classes from nursery through 6th grade for over 20 years. Virginia was a part of the church Mission Council doing lessons for church mission services and also served as the Local Missionary President for many years. She helped organize and run the "Ladies LIFT" ministry for several years, and she was also in charge of Children's Church for a while. Virginia made Children's Church a family affair. She had Glenn play the piano while she led the music and did the lesson. When she decided to have a puppet ministry as part of her Children's Church ministry, her daughters, Susan and Sharon, were recruited as her puppeteers. In their retirement years, Virginia and her husband also helped start the Lone Star Cowboy Church of the Nazarene. Family was a joy in Virginia's life. Since all four of her children were involved in the Howe High School Band, Glenn and Virginia went to 19 years of Howe football games, concerts, fundraisers, and competitions. Her support for family continued with many years of taking grandkids to karate practice, helping with selling Girl Scout cookies, attending soccer games, baseball games, band concerts, choir concerts, Grandparents' Days at schools and more. We rejoice with this faithful servant who has fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 6th, 2023, at Heritage Nazarene Church in Sherman. There will be a visitation from 10:00 am until 11:00 prior to the service. Rev. Mack Rogers will officiate. The burial will be at Hall Cemetery in Howe. Virginia's body will be available for viewing from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, December 5th at Waldo Funeral Home.
