Rodney Fuquay Obituary

"Rodney Fuquay, 88, born September 22, 1934, of Summerfield, NC, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, April 20, 2023. Rodney was a great and loving role model. He had a kind and generous soul, never failing to help anyone who asked. He was a great handyman and could fix almost anything. He served our country in the United States Air Force for 4 years. He retired after working for 34 years (1960-1994) for Richardson-Vicks (later Proctor \u0026amp; Gamble) in Greensboro, NC. Rodney and his family were founding members of Christ Lutheran Church on Lawndale Drive in Greensboro. He was a devoted servant of Christ, always a caring and giving person. Rodney is preceded in death by his mother and father, Papa Nat and Mama Lillie Fuquay and by 12 brothers and sisters. He was especially close to his brother Graham (2018). He enjoyed numerous calls and visits from his nieces and nephews. Rodney is proceeded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Delores Huus Fuquay (2017). Rodney is survived by his sons Jeff (Julie), Brian (Karen) and Tim (Cheryl), all of Summerfield, NC. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Bishop, Amanda (Zach) Barbitta, Justin Fuquay, Morgan (Ryan) Gravley, Allyson Fuquay and Michael Fuquay. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren, Jackson, Makenna, Carter and Lakyn. The family would like to especially thank his excellent caregivers and friends, Geno and Peggy Bardelli and Cheryl Fuquay. Geno and Peggy moved in across the street from Rodney and helped us keep an eye on him when we were all at work. Geno would drive Rodney places and they would go get haircuts together. Peggy often invited Rodney to dinner or brought food to him. Cheryl became Rodney's tireless, caregiving angel after Delores' passing. Let his family and friends always remember their kind and giving spirit and live as they do. Visitation with the family will be held at Forbis \u0026amp; Dick Funeral Home, North Elm Chapel, 1118 N. Elm St. , Greensboro, NC 27401, on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Please join us for Rodney's memorial service at Christ Lutheran Church, 3600 Lawndale Dr. , Greensboro, NC 27408, on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at 12:00 pm. A luncheon will be provided by the church after the service. Following the luncheon, a graveside service will be held with Military Honors at Lakeview Memorial Park, 3600 N. O'Henry Blvd. , Greensboro, NC 27405, at 3:00 pm. "
