"Robert Sweeney, age 90, of Bristol, Virginia, passed away in the early morning hours on Thursday, September 7, 2023. He was born on July 9, 1933 to the late Baker Edward Sweeney and Sarah Miller Sweeney. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Robert was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He is remembered for his funny personality. He will be dearly missed. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lois Sweeney; son, Shane Sweeney; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 11, 2023 at High Point Presbyterian Church Cemetery beginning at 1:00 PM with Pastors Mike Leonard and Eddie Leonard officiating. "Reverend Walter Joe Wall, Jr. passed away at NHC Bristol on November 16, 2023, after a period of declining health. Rev. Wall was born on January 11, 1929, in Morristown, Tennessee to Walter Joe Wall, Sr. and Bonnie Mae Fox Wall. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brother Jack Hale Wall, sister, Stella Wall Collins and the love of his life, wife Elizabeth Ann Richards Wall. He is survived by daughter, Robin W. Bagnall (Gary) of Bristol; granddaughter, Carter Grace Bagnall (special friend John Atwood) of Falls Church, Virginia; sister, Christine W. Henderson of Selma Alabama; brother, David M. Wall of Morristown and several nieces and nephews. He attended Morristown High School, where her was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010. After high school he attended Carson-Newman and graduated from ETSU, both on a football scholarship. Rev. Wall was ordained in 1954 and attended Southeastern Seminary. Among the churches he served were Calvary Baptist Erwin, Bowmantown Baptist, Lovelace Baptist, Sunrise Baptist and Hickory Tree Church. In addition, he was employed by the Sullivan County School System and served as a teacher, Principal, Attendance Supervisor and Personal and Public Relations Director. He was a member of the Bristol Twin Cities Lions Club, Whiteside Masonic Lodge, and a former board member of the Bristol Speech and Hearing. In addition, in the 1960\u0027s and 1970\u0027s he was a freelance reporter for WJHL. He loved to bowl, and on several occasions won state honors in the Senior Olympics, qualifying once for the National Senior Olympics. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Blevins Funeral and Cremation Services. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Allen Brumett officiating. The committal service and interment will be private. "Jimmy "Jim" Edward Hutchins, 74, passed away during the morning hours of Sunday, November 19, 2023, following an extended illness. Jim was born on August 20, 1949, in Bristol, TN to the late Edward and Louise Hutchins. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, working, and NASCAR. Jim was a dedicated employee of Jim Rainero for more than 30 years. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; he will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his grandmother who raised him, Virginia Hutchins; five brothers; a sister; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Chilcott. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, Brenda Jean Hutchins; daughter, Sandy Colwell; son, Jimmy Edward Hutchins II; two grandchildren, Haili Kara Hutchins and Jaelin Blakey Hutchins; brother, Terry Hutchins; sister, Billie Allen; mother-in-law, Ruby Powers; sister and brother-law, Edna \u0026amp; William Klink; brothers-in-law, Ronnie Chilcot and Tom Jones; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. "Margaret Ann Barker, age 90, of Bristol, VA, went to be with her Savior on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Brookdale Assisted Living. She was born on March 26, 1933, to the late William and Ida Barker. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Zion Barker Jr. , and daughter, Lynette Elam. Margaret worked for the Bristol, VA Public School System for several years as a teaching assistant. She was also very involved in Euclid Avenue Baptist Church committees. Along with participating in many different organizations in her church, she was also involved in Sunday school classes. Apart from Euclid Avenue Baptist Church, Margaret was also a member of Raceway Ministries. She was a wonderful cook and had a passion for gardening. Margaret was a prayer warrior and put everyone else\u0027s needs above her own. She was strong minded, precious, and a ray of light to others. She will be dearly missed. Margaret is survived by her son in law, Tommy Lee Elam Sr. ; grandchildren, Syvella Coomer, Angela Cofer (Bill), Tommy Lee Elam, Jr. (Pamela), and Mark Anthony Elam (Grisel); several great grandchildren; several close friends from church; several cousins; and a host of friends. A gathering for friends and family will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Euclid Avenue Baptist Church from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Donna graduated from South High School and attended college at ETSU where she obtained her bachelor\u0027s degree in criminology. She worked as a social worker for several years before becoming a homemaker shortly after her daughter was born. Donna was invested in true crime documentaries and also liked to attend festivals. She will be remembered for her honest and caring personality. She will be dearly missed. "Charles Howard Harosky, Jr. , age 79, of Bristol, VA, passed away on November 15, 2023. He was born on September 12, 1944, to the late Charles H. Harosky, Sr. and Lena Harosky. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Blozik. Charles served in the United States Army for 21 years. He served in the 101st airborne division in Ft. Campbell, KY and he was also a paratrooper. He was a Sergeant Major and served in the Vietnam War. Charles was Lutheran by faith and was a family man. His family remembers him as a jokester and a storyteller. Charles never met a stranger. He also enjoyed playing softball, watching Steeler football, and listening to music. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Linda Harosky; children, Tracy Harosky, Christopher Harosky (Tammy), and Charles Harosky (Traci); grandchildren, Jessica Lambert (David), Hannah Harosky, Madison Harosky, Haley Harosky, Adam Harosky, Emma Stevens and Josh Stevens; great grandson, Asher J. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Edith Pope, and several brothers and sisters. Hobert was a handy man. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and watching Nascar. He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and also liked basketball. Hobert was a collector of knives and coins. He will be remembered for his quiet yet loving personality. She was a lifelong resident of Washington County, VA on August 23, 1949, a daughter of the late Guy and Beulah Meade. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John McCormack; one son, Scott Andrew McCormack; three sisters, Eva Kate Burchett, Wilma Jean Meade and Deborah Hayes; and two brothers, James Wayne Meade and Herbert Stanley Meade. Connie enjoyed crocheting, gardening, reading, and loved her cats. She is survived by two sons, Robert Brian McCormack and James Gary Carver; six grandchildren, Katie McCormack, Andee McCormack, Kimi McCormack, Gabe McCormack, Alex McCormack, and Cameron Johnson; sister, Sherry Cunningham and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thank you to all the nursing staff at Bristol Regional Medical Center and Amedisys Hospice for all the love and care shown to Connie during her illness.
