Mr. Robert (Bob) Savage Ride, age 90, born on May 5, 1933, passed away from dementia on September 3, 2023. He was a loving spouse, caring father, and a very proud grandfather. Arriving in the early 1980's, Bob was one of the first agents to sell real estate at Lake Oconee. In 1988 he and his family moved to the lake fulltime and shortly after he started his own company. (Bob Ride Realty) He was a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Club and won numerous real estate awards. Bob enjoyed helping his clients find that special property on the lake to call their home. His love for real estate allowed him to work well into his 80's. Bob is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kristen and Niel Loeb, as well as his son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Judy Ride. Grandchildren: Tyler Loeb (Taylor), Taylor and Katy Ride, Emily Loeb, Allison and Clint Rainey, and Brian Franklin, along with one great grandchild, Kloey Franklin. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Ride Fick, brother-in-law, Bill McNamee, and several nieces/nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Laura Ann Friberg Ride, his parents, Ray and Doris Ride, his sister, Ruth Ride McNamee, his brother-in-law, John Edward Fick, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jane Friberg Lincoln and Dr. Robert Lincoln. Caroline Grant Freel of Greensboro, GA, died at the age of 79 on Friday evening, November 24, 2023, with her daughters by her side. Caroline was a devoted wife, loving mother and proud grandmother. She will be dearly missed. Caroline was born on October 5, 1944, in Gainesville, GA, to the late Sarah Porter and Lewis Willard Grant. As part of an Army family, she moved frequently in childhood and shared especially fond memories of her time in England. She was a graduate of the University of Georgia and married Richard William Freel on August 9, 1975, in Demorest, GA. Caroline and Dick raised their three daughters in Atlanta, the city they called home for over 35 years. She was a dedicated supporter of her children in all of their academic and athletic pursuits. Caroline played tennis for many years and loved watching sports of all kinds. A lively and competitive spirit, she also loved socializing with friends over card and board games like bridge and mahjong. Caroline took simple pleasure in the Chattahoochee River view and birdwatching from her Vinings home. She enjoyed feeding mealworms to the bluebirds, nectar to the hummingbirds and seeds to a variety of others. She looked forward to fall and the changing leaves, often visiting the mountains of North Georgia and the Blue Ridge Parkway. In 2009 Caroline and Dick retired to Lake Oconee in Greensboro, GA, and began traveling with friends throughout North America and Europe. Caroline had a long career in retail and administrative roles and continued working even in retirement as a receptionist at the Del Webb clubhouse for 12 years. Her survivors include her husband, Richard of Greensboro, GA; daughters Carrie of Charleston, SC, Mandy of Asheville, NC, and Laura of Atlanta, GA; and granddaughter Bentley of Charleston, SC. She was preceded in death by her brother, Lewis Grant, and son-in-law, Tommy Barnes. Charlotte Bryant Spivey, of Greensboro, GA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, November 27, 2023 at the age of 82. "Sun" as she was called by her close friends and family was born in Union Point, GA on July 24, 1941, to the late James Benjamin Bryant and Dorothy Elizabeth Arnold Bryant. She grew up in Greene County and attended Greensboro High School but graduated in Atlanta. After high school she worked for the DeKalb Police Department as the records secretary, a job she enjoyed very much. Many jobs and years later, she last worked for NIBCO before retiring in 2003. She was a longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church in Union Point, GA. She will be remembered as a sweet lady whose heart overflowed with love for Jesus Christ. Her life was a testament to her faith and is evident by the many, many hand-written scriptures and notes that adorn her home, car and well-loved Bible. Her devotion extended to her family with her joy being her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Daily she sent text messages to family and friends filled with Bible verses, encouraging words and personalized prayers. She was an excellent pen and ink artist, made legendary biscuits and treasured her cats. She is survived by her daughter, Andrea Wheeler (Jimmy) of Greensboro, GA; sons, Andrew Dean Thompson, III (Shelly) and Michael Thompson both of Greensboro, GA; grandchildren, Matthew Wheeler (Laurel) of Athens, GA, Luke Wheeler (Jordan) of Greensboro, GA, Danielle Wheeler of Union Point, GA, Merri Wheeler of Greensboro, GA, Chase Wheeler (Kristen) of Watkinsville, GA, Haley Mize of Union Point, GA and Wesley Statham of Siloam, GA; great grandchildren, Roxie Screws and Barrett Screws both of Union Point, GA, Sophie Wheeler and Elijah Wheeler both of Greensboro, GA; many other relatives and friends. On October 6. 1946, Charles Wayne Alexander was born at home to Wayne and Audrey Alexander while they waited for the doctor to arrive. Being that Charles was a rather large baby, Wayne wasn't overly happy that the doctor arrived after Charles did. Growing up, Charles enjoyed the farm life but engineering was his passion. After attending the North Georgia Military College, he went on to graduate from Georgia Tech as a civil engineer and held his professional engineer's license up to his death. He also attended Georgia State University and MIT. Charles was in the United States Army, he received an honorable discharge as a Captain. In 1968, he married the love of his life, Carmen. They had many adventures together in politics, mountain excursions, hanging out at "Cabin No. 1", and dancing in the kitchen to "Unchained Melody" every single time they heard the song. In 1971, Charles' status of husband was upgraded to father and as soon as Debra could talk, his name changed to Didhe. Throughout his life, Charles was a member of many groups all over Georgia. These groups include: Jaycees, Gideons, and various Professional Engineers' organizations. Many Sundays, you could find him directing songs or singing at church and/or teaching Sunday School class. In the late hours of November 17, 2023, the words, "well done my good and faithful servant" were music to his ears as God called him home to dance once again with Carmen. Charles was proceeded in death by his wife of 49 years, Carmen, parents, Wayne and Audrey Alexander, brother and sister-in-law, Lorin and Glenda Alexander, Brother, Joe Alexander, brother-in-law, George Gibson, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Annie Mae and "Buck" Clark along with numerous extended family members. Charles was also proceeded in death by his favorite pets, Deanie (in his words, the demon cat) and Ben (his beloved chow-chow). Donnie Aaron Harrison, Sr. of White Plains, GA passed away on November 9, 2023 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro, GA. Born in Clarksville, TN on August 3, 1947 he was the son of the late James Edward Harrison and Pauline Heflin Harrison. He graduated from Clarksville High School in Tennessee in 1966 and attended Austin Peay State University. On November 14, 1967 he joined the United States Army proudly serving his country and received an honorable discharge as a Sergeant. While in the service he was stationed at Fort Jackson, SC and Fort Ord, CA. On November 26, 1969 he married the former Carol June Wheat in Columbia, SC to whom he had been married for nearly forty-six years at the time of her death in 2015. They lived in Milledgeville, Sparta and Pawleys Island, SC before moving to White Plains thirty-five years ago. Over his working career, Donnie was a butcher, meat manager and store manager working for Red & White, IGA, Bilo and Lord's Galaxy where he retired in 2012. Donnie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed his family very much and playing golf. Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Alice Anthony (Mark) of Jefferson; three sons, Donnie A. Harrison, Jr. (Melanie) of Union Point, James E. Harrison of White Plains and Michael Paul Harrison of Greensboro; grandchildren, Donnie Aaron Harrison III (Heather) of Greensboro, Charley Lynn Harrison of Valdosta, Wylie Harrison of Milledgeville, Mason and Brady Anthony of Jefferson, and Lauren Lindsey of Greensboro; a great grandchild, Cooper Aaron Harrison of Greensboro; sister, Claudeen Rye (James) of Clarksville, TN, along with a number of other relatives and friends. Diane Gillen Parker of Greensboro, Georgia, passed away Friday, November 3, 2023 at her residence with her family. Born in Lake City, Florida on October 8, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Hal Paul Gillen and Maude Dukes Gillen. In 1954 she graduated from Columbia High School in Lake City, Florida and in 1975 earned her Bachelor's Degree and later received a Master's Degree from Georgia College. After college she began her career in teaching and retired from Greene County Board of Education. She taught various subjects from seventh grade up. On September 7, 1956 she married Loyd Vernon Parker who was a native of Greene County. At the time of his death in 2021 they had been married sixty-five years. Diane was a faithful and longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro, where she sang in the choir and taught in AWANA. Reading and History were among her favorite pastimes. Diane is survived by two sons, Patrick Parker (Judy) and Paul Parker; daughter, Teresa Diane Parker Simpson; grandchildren: Patrick Robert Parker (Priscilla), Casie Tran Darley, Candice Tran Brake, Tiffany Bridges, Chaney Sagle, Wendy Diane Simpson, Melissa Jean Gray, Anna Nichole Davis, Dylan Richard Lederer, Desi'Rae Nichole Lederer, and James Daniel Parker (Leighalle); sister, Paula Gillen Akins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Vernon Parker; her son, Wade Parker; grandson, Jeremy Michael Simpson; and brother-in-law, Bascom Ray Akins. James Edward "Jimmy" Pinder, Sr. age 84, of Greensboro, Georgia, died Monday, October 23, 2023, at his residence with his loving family. He was a native of Miami, FL born on April 22, 1939, to the late Charles and Billie Ballew Pinder. He was a 1957 graduate of Jackson High School where he played football. Later he married the former Sandra Eleta Merritt who preceded him in death in 1999. Jimmy worked for Florida Power and Light as a Lineman and Supervisor from 1963 to 1996. After retirement he thoroughly enjoyed travelling. He has lived in Greensboro for the last twenty-six years and on January 30, 2003, he married the former Linda Fay LeSesne in Hiriam, GA. While living in Greensboro he was a member of Walker United Methodist Church and enjoyed swimming, fishing and football. He was also a member of the NRA. Jimmy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and loved the Lord. Survivors include his wife of twenty years, Linda LeSesne Pinder of Greensboro; daughters, Sandra Pinder Mason (Mark) and Sherry Pinder; son, James Edward Pinder, Jr. ; grandchildren: Amanda Baker (Nick), Kristen Weinberg (Bryan), Taylor Mason, Clayton Mason, Kara Pinder, Tatianna Pinder, Madison Pinder and Ary Pinder; one great grandchild, Haley Weinberg; sisters, Mary Pinder Slusher of Hialeah, FL and Carol Elliott of Knoxville, TN; sister-in-law, Peggy Pinder; step daughter, Linda Radene Kay and step son, David Bryan Kay; other relatives and many friends. Keith VanDuzer of Harbor Club in Greensboro, Georgia, died on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at the age of 77. Son of the late Marlyn VanDuzer and Gertrude Killian VanDuzer, Keith was born on September 22, 1946, in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. He graduated from West Pittston High School, Pennsylvania, in 1964. He graduated from Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and subsequently attended The Rockchester Institute of Technology, Rockchester, New York. He served in the United States Army. Keith retired in 2000 as Vice President of Human Resources with Verizon Communications. During his career he relocated many times to serve in positions of increased account abilities in Batavia, New York, Waltham, Mass. , Smithfield, North Carolina, Seneca Falls, New York, St. Louis, Missouri, Washington, D. C. , Stamford, Connecticut, Tampa, Florida, and Atlanta, Georgia. After his retirement he held positions with the Samaritan Family Counseling Group, The Board of Directors for Emergency Preparedness of the Georgia American Red Cross and the Harbor Club Community Relations Council. Also he has remained active in the Omicron Chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity, Dickinson College, having served as the organization's President during college. Keith was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Greensboro. He was an accomplished golfer, hunter, and fisherman. In addition, he was delighted to play the role of Santa Claus for area children, senior citizens, and other groups during past years. He is survived by his wife, Linda Serfoss VanDuzer of Greensboro, Georgia; a daughter, Sarah Raybon, and granddaughter, Rylee Tyner of Athens, Georgia, and son-in-law, Dr. Brian Raybon, as well as a host of other friends and relatives. Interment, only with members of Keith's immediate family participating, will occur at a later date at Evergreen Memorial Park in Athens.
