Robert (Bob) Ratz, aged 90, formerly of Green Bay, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at his residence in Mesa, Arizona. He was born on August 7, 1933, to the late Henry and Minnie (Piesler) Ratz. On June 11, 1955, he married Rita Kozlowski in Pulaski, and they were together for 46 years. Robert completed his education at Badger Business College in Green Bay, earning a degree in business after graduating from Oconto Falls High School in 1951. He dedicated his career to the Coca-Cola Bottling Company, where he worked as a service manager until his retirement in 1995. Throughout his life, Robert found joy in various activities. He cherished summers spent at the cottage in Lakewood, Wisconsin, and winters in Mesa, Arizona. He delighted in taking friends on fishing trips to Lake Michigan and enjoyed pastimes like playing cards, dominoes, cribbage, camping, dining out, and bowling with his teammates, JoAnne, and Norb Kozlowski. Bob was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed recalling Packer moments. Tending to his orange, grapefruit, and lemon trees in Mesa and sharing his harvest with friends and family brought him great joy. Together with his wife Rita, Robert treasured visits from family and friends during their time in Arizona. He took pride in his volunteer work, which included driving people to medical appointments, providing shuttle service for family and friends from the airport, monitoring handicap zones, and participating in clean-up efforts for the Boys and Girls Club of America, as well as clearing trash from the desert near the border in Nogales, Arizona. He is survived by his three children and their spouses: Randy and Phyllis Ratz, Green Bay, Renee and Craig Varland, Oak Creek, Wisconsin, and Ronald Ratz, Florida; four grandchildren: David (Dawn) Ratz and Patrick Ratz of Green Bay, Tori (Anthony) Hohenstein of Madison, and Camron Varland of Oak Creek, Wisconsin; great-grandchildren: Dawson, Devyn, and Demi Ratz; and brothers-in-law Chester Kozlowski, Seymour and Ray Kozlowski, Pulaski. Preceding him in death were his parents; his beloved wife Rita; two sisters: Elizabeth Sommerfeld and Elsie Krueger; one brother: Alfred; a grandson: Jason Ratz, and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Herbert Sommerfeld, Carol Ratz, Alvin and Eleanor Kozlowski, Lorraine Kozlowski, Norbert and JoAnn Kozlowski, Helen Kozlowski, and Mary Ann and Dale Keuken. A funeral service will be held Friday September 15, 2023, at 11:00 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2771 Oakwood Drive, Green Bay with Father Dan Everts officiating. Visitation will occur from 10:00 am until the time of service. Dolegario Sandoval, known by many as 'Lole,' 'Indio' or 'Tata,' passed away on November 23rd 2023, surrounded by his immediate family after a few months of declining health, at the age of 80. Dolegario was born October 2nd 1943 to Emilio Sandoval Moreno and Celia Tarin Adame in La Magdalena, Chihuahua, Mexico. He was the 2nd of 15 children. He attended school in Hidalgo del Parral, Chihuahua, but spent all his free time helping on the family ranch, where his favorite mode of transportation was his horse. After a long 4 year courtship, he married Imelda Sanchez Aguire on December 28, 1968. They went on to have two children, Jorge and Amanda. He lived with his wife and kids in Johnson, Kansas from 1969 to 1990, where he worked as the mill operator at Western Feedyard for over 16 years. There he had the opportunity to continue riding horses and participated in the local rodeo on occasion. He worked for a short while for Teeter Irrigation and CO-OP Feedyard just before moving to Mesa, Arizona in July of 1990. Once the family was settled in Mesa, Dolegario took a custodian job with Mesa Public Schools where he retired in 2015, and then went back to work for a few years part-time until his wife retired as well; he didn't like to be bored. He enjoyed helping raise his three grandkids, going to all their dance recitals, soccer, basketball and especially softball and baseball games. He was proud of all their accomplishments and was always doting on his "babies" as he liked to refer to them. He is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Imelda, son Jorge Emilio Sandoval, daughter Amanda Imelda Griffin (husband Steven), grandkids, Karina Isabel, Kiley Marissa and Keenan Thomas Griffin and great-grand fur-babies Chloe and Peaches. As well as four brothers, Catalino, Salvador, Jesus Miguel and Flavio, and five sisters Maria Emilia, Celia Emilia, Berta Alicia, Margarita and Luz Estela. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.Show more

Rose Marie Capranica, "Rosie" 84 of Mesa Arizona, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt died Thursday November 23, 2023. Rose died peacefully at home of natural causes surrounded by her family. Rose was born on January 21, 1939, in Springfield Illinois to Mary and Vince Romanotto. She graduated High school from Sacred Heart Academy in 1957 and married her high school sweetheart Ed Capranica "Eddy" the following year. She and Ed created a close knit, and loving family of 7 children. They remained married for 48 years until Ed's death in 2007. Rose devoted herself to her husband and children throughout her life and worked tirelessly to provide a loving and nurturing home for them. Her gifts as an amazing seamstress, baker, cook, homemaker, listener and friend brought countless hours of joy and comfort to her family and friends. Her sweet, loving and kind nature benefited all who were lucky enough to have known her. She is survived by all 7 of her children: Denise Butler, Geno Capranica, Lori Brunson, Annette Capranica, Paula Layne, Eric Capranica and Amy Waz. Family has chosen to hold services at a later date. John Robert Shown (81) passed away in Mesa, Arizona on Saturday, November 18, 2023. John was born on June 4, 1942 in Del Norte, Colorado to Mary Margaret (Peter) and Mahlon Stanley "Jack" Shown. He attended Center High School graduating in 1960. John attended Colorado State College (now the University of Northern Colorado) in Greeley, Colorado. He received a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1964 and a Masters in English in 1967. John taught reading and English in Fort Lupton, CO for three years before moving to Arizona in 1967. He taught English at Superior High School for 28 years, retiring in 1995. Even after his retirement, he continued to keep busy with part-time and volunteer work. He returned to teaching part-time in the Mesa Public Schools when a former student said it was a crime that he wasn't still teaching. He taught English and Conversational Spanish until he retired again in 2004. He was a well-loved teacher and was an Arizona Teacher of the Year nominee in 1993. He was also awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award from Superior HS Alumni attending the University of Arizona in 1991. John stayed active in retirement volunteering at Banner Baywood Hospital, Paz de Cristo, and the Mesa Arts Center. He enjoyed reading, bird watching, and traveling when he had the opportunity. He traveled throughout the U. S. as well as internationally to Mexico, Central America, and South America, including Peru and Costa Rica. John was a very active and faithful member of the Catholic Church. He was baptized and confirmed in the church in 1989. He was most recently a member of St. Timothy's Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. John is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Molly Shown, his parents Mary and Jack Shown, his brother Lynn and his sister Joanne. He is survived by his sons Jerry (Shelly), Joe (Kim), and John; grandchildren Rosalynn (Trevor), Wesley, Eli, Justus, Hayden, J. D. , Joey, Annabeth, Alex, Ethan, and Zoe; and great-grandchildren Callahan and Clarke. A private Rite of Committal service will be held at a later date. John will be interred at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Mesa, Arizona. Donations may be made to Paz de Cristo.Show more

In 1986, he received his MBA, Masters of Management from Northwestern University at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management in Evanston, Illinois. Mike married Susanne Vanda from Saint Paul, MN on February 21, 1975, and then moved to Chicago, IL after their wedding. They raised their three children, Mark, Lisa and Kristen in Glenview, IL where they lived for 30 years. Mike was a sales professional with management and marketing experience in the wine business in Chicago and the Central Division. Most importantly, Mike enjoyed spending time with his family and loved being a husband, a father and grandfather. He was an avid outdoorsman and his passions were tennis, sailing, skiing, hockey and running marathons. One of his greatest joys was building a cabin on Upper Gull Lake in Minnesota. Time with family and friends created lasting memories that will be cherished forever. Mike and Sue moved to Mesa, AZ in 2005 after his retirement. Mike enjoyed many years traveling and spending time with family and friends. He will always be remembered for his incredible wit, great smile and infectious laugh. Irene C. Gebauer , 89, died Saturday November 18, 2023 at her home in Mesa, Arizona. She was born August 30, 1934 to Edward C. Keeley, and Irene M. Keeley, (nee) Mulligan in Ontario, Canada. Formerly of Algonquin, Illinois, where she was a resident from 1960 - 2012, she resided in Mesa, Arizona from 2012 until her passing. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, and her four sisters; Margaret Collins, Elizabeth (Betty) Steepe, Mary Catherine Keeley, and her twin, Mary Elgring. Irene performed as a professional figure skater across N. America. Irene trained in Canada from age 6 - 18 years. She held a Gold Medal in Figures and trained with Olympian Barbara Ann Scott. She skated with the U. S. Ice Follies from 1953 - 1956. After her career with the Ice Follies, Irene taught Figure Skating with the Michael Kirby Figure Skating School, the Polar Dome Ice Arena, the Woodfield Ice Arena, and the Lake Barrington Ice Arena. Irene was married for 38 years to Bodo G. Gebauer. She is survived by her two children, her daughter Wendy I. Quinlan, residing in Mesa, Arizona, and her son, Glen E. Gebauer, residing in Wills Point, Texas. Irene has 9 grandchildren; 2 reside in Arizona, 1 in Barrington, Illinois, and 6 in the Dallas, Texas area. Additionally Irene has 9 great grandchildren. She has been widowed 24 years. Irene enjoyed vacationing, swimming, and being outdoors when weather permitted. One of her favorite hobbies was knitting. She created blankets for the military, those in need, and future great-grandchildren. Irene was known for her infectious smile. She was a very happy person and loved spending time with her family and many friends. During her life in Algonquin, Illinois, she was an active parishioner of Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Irene loved animals, particularly her many dogs and cat. Irene will be buried with her beloved husband in the Village of Algonquin Cemetery in Algonquin, IL.Show more

Our sweet mother, Beverly Barnette (Burk/Nuttall) has faithfully endured her earthly life and has peacefully passed on to her well-deserved eternal rest. She died on November, 23 - Thanksgiving Day, 2023. She fought a good fight, she finished the course, she kept the faith - now it's her turn to enjoy peace in paradise. Throughout her life she provided an accepting, joyful, comfortable space for everyone to be themselves and made us all feel so loved. We are amazed at the strength and grace she carried literally to her last breath. She leaves behind so many that love and adore her, including her children Treven (Kathy) Nuttall, Chad (Nichole) Nuttall, Tracie Nuttall, Chirs Nuttall and Cami (Matt) Williams. One of her greatest joys in life was being a grandma to her 14 grandchildren - Merissa, Malleri, Parker, Ella, Evrett, Madalyn, Fletcher, Josslyn, Sawyer, Lucy, Cash, Harper, Stella and Piper. Vera Ethelene Bryant Glass Obituary, Sunrise Jan 28, 1948- Sunset Nov 22, 2023 Mother, Author, Evangelist, and Bible Teacher Vera Ethelene Glass was the eldest of 14 children, born to Kenneth Howard Bryant and Ethel Mae Bryant in Goldsboro, North Carolina, on Jan 28th, 1948. Vera learned to sew from her grandmother at a young age and became an accomplished designer. Vera had her own business, with the natural ability to sew men's suits, wedding dresses, interior designs, and many more artistic creations. She could look at something and make it or create it. Mother Glass was an avid gardener with a green thumb. Wherever she lived, she always had a beautiful big garden of vegetables. Vera, called Lene by her family, was very close to her brothers and sisters, being named the Family Matriarch and Family historian. After graduating from Dillard High School and spending some years at North Carolina Central University in Durham, Vera married and relocated to Arizona to raise her three daughters. Vera took pride in her career working in management for the phone companies Mountain Bell and U. S. West. God called Vera, and her extraordinary ministry gift touched many lives, leading others to Christ. She served God wholeheartedly, with a passion for touching the lives of abused women in need. Vera was a Prayer Warrior, and through her Ministry, she mentored and encouraged countless people over the years. She was the CEO and founder of "He Restoreth My Soul Ministries. " Vera was the author of 3 books, G. R. I. P/ Great People in Prayer, Crabs in the Basket Mentality, and Dead Flies in the Apothecary. Evangelist Glass helped Pastors set up churches; she had the Gift of Administration, allowing her to organize church events, create the documents needed for Church business programs, and give advice. In Vera's later years in ministry, she held a weekly podcast and a family and friends prayer line. Vera is survived by her three daughters, Veralyn Johnson, Ethel Jones, and Kenyatta, and two son-in-laws, Marcquette Johnson and Keith Jones. As well as eight grandchildren, Shanice Johnson, Ayanna Johnson, Lathenia Johnson, Marcquette Johnson II, Kenneth Glass, Malik Moser, Tyree Moser and James, three great-grandchildren: Kennedy Glass, Benjamin Glass, and Shamar Wilson. Eleven surviving siblings, Eliza Davis, Howard Bryant, Joe Bryant, Stanley Bryant, Adell Bryant, Ella Bryant, Veronica Bryant, Bernice Bryant, Nellie Birden, Winefred Bryant, and Eltralla Bryant. Many First and Second Cousins, some like siblings, many Nieces and Nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Vera's legacy will continue to live on through all generations and in the lives of those who were impacted by her life's work.Show more

Millicent Arnette Anderson, who goes by Melle, went to be with the Lord on November 18, 2023. She battled with complications of Valley fever and the flu. She was 67 years old. It would be wrong to say that Melle lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, Melle stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly looks like. There was no quit in Melle. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn't mean she lost her fight. She had a kind and friendly personality. She had a heart for giving and always went out of her way to help others. Her motto was, "Your attitude will affect your altitude in life". She enjoyed greeting and volunteering for food distribution at Rising Star Baptist church. She retired as a budget assistant from the Department of Defense. Melle completed her Bachelors in Business Administration. She is survived by her son William Anderson, daughter Athena Sewell, and grandson Isaiah Sewell. Her three sisters Denise Harris, Dianne Moore, Michelle Johnson as well as Dianne's husband Deacon Alvin Moore. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
