Delmas Boyett Ward Jr, age 84, of Monroeville AL passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023. Delmaswas born December 8,1938 in Tallahassee FL to Delmas Boyett Ward, Sr and Claris Merle Vause Ward. Delmas grew up in Tallahassee, graduated from Leon High School in 1956 and attended Florida StateUniversity. He met Joellyn Bush in 1957, they fell in love and were married in 1958. His job as a salerepresentative brought him and his family to Monroeville AL in 1973 where he and Joellyn raised fourchildren and lived out the rest of his life. He worked for Sunday Dinner, Schloss and Kahn, now US Foods,where he was known as "Del", for 36 years before retiring. He won numerous awards throughout hiscareer. Delmas was a positive influence, brought a high level of business expectations and a down-toearth and common-sense perspective on a wide variety of topics. Delmas was a devoted husband and father, an avid hunter and fisherman and spent his time off with hisfamily boating and camping and sporting events. Delmas was known for his dry sense of humor andquick wit. He instilled in his children a sense of volunteerism and helping others. He was an amazing home mechanic who loved working on older vehicles. He was an amazing man whodonated countless hours and money to benefit less fortunate kids who needed a baseball glove orfootball cleats or who needed a fee for band camp or basketball camp. He did so with an open heart andwith anonymity. He never wanted or expected recognition. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Monroeville. He was a huge supporter of MCHSathletics and band. He was an Athletic Booster Club and MCHS Band Booster from 1974 through 1979. Delmas helped create the "youth" peewee football program in Monroeville. He coached and was anofficer in the Monroeville Little League then Babe Ruth League for many years. Delmas is preceded in death by his parents, Delmas and Claris Ward and his wife, Joellyn Bush Ward. He is survived by his daughter Cindy Ward Kennedy (Mike), of Monroeville AL, and sons Delmas (Del)Boyett Ward III, (Suzanne), of Grove Hill AL, Gregory (Greg) Charles Ward, (Sissy) of Houma LA and AlanDavid Ward, of Mobile AL. Grandsons Stephen Del Ward (Katie), Bush Andress Kennedy, Ward McCorveyKennedy, (Shelby) and Christopher Taylor Ward (Jessica). Great grands Jack Bradford Ward, MadisonAvery Ward, and Alma Joellyn Ward. Funeral services by Johnson Funeral Home will be on Thursday, November 2nd at First United MethodistChurch. Visitation at 10:00 AM/Funeral at 11:00 AM followed by graveside service at Pineville Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
