Passero, Robert "Bob" Joseph, age 84, of Hawthorne, on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. Robert was born in Paterson to the late Rose (Sgrosso) and Joseph Passero. He was raised there until he moved to Hawthorne over 60 years ago. After graduating from Rutgers University, Robert earned his JD degree from New York University. He began his legal career in Paterson with the firm of Raff and Passero before establishing his own law firm in Hawthorne. In 1988 he was appointed Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey. In 1999, he was appointed to serve as the Assignment Judge of Passaic County, a position he held until his retirement in 2008. Robert enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his nine grandchildren. A former member of the Hawthorne Lion's Club, Robert also enjoyed golfing and spending summers at the Jersey Shore. Robert was the beloved husband of Phyllis (nee Spagnola) Passero for 61 years. Loving father of Susan Agostini and her husband Peter of Denville, Karen D'Amato and her husband Kenneth of Wyckoff, and Juliet Berninger and her husband David of Wayne. Grandfather of Danielle Gorospe and her husband King, Matthew Agostini, Christian Agostini, Joseph D'Amato, Max D'Amato, Noelle D'Amato, Nicholas Berninger, Luke Berninger, and the late Eric Berninger (2018). Predeceased by his sister Angelina DeMarco, and his brother Louis De Feo. Funeral will be departing at 9:00am on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, from the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne for a 9:30am funeral mass at St. Gerard Majella R. C. Church, Paterson. Entombment will follow at the Holy Sepulchre Mausoleum in Paterson. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.
