Robert Lee "Bob" Nicely, age 84 of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. He was born in Defiance, Ohio on January 29, 1938 to the late John and Lena (Kiesling) Nicely. On June 18, 1961 he married Beverly (Gerken) Nicely, who survives. Bob was a faithful member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church. He worked for 38 years at Johns Manville in Defiance until his retirement. Bob had a true passion for working on his farm, and he enjoyed gardening. Bob was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who treasured his time spent with his family. He will be sadly missed by his family and many good friends. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Beverly Nicely of Defiance, his sons; Thomas (Teri) Nicely and Timothy (Connie) Nicely, all of Defiance, and Eric (Tiffany) Nicely of Perrysburg, OH. He also leaves behind his grandchildren; Eric, Stacy, Kristen, Kyle, Jason, Taryn, Ashlyn and Trenton, his great-grandchildren; Liam, Landree, Kenadee, Landon, Lexi, Aria, Mila, Jenna, Braylen, and Bryce, step-great-grandchildren; Parker and Beckett, his brothers; Ted (Phyllis) Nicely and Otto (Donna) Nicely, his sister, Sally (Ferrel) Lee, sisters-in-law, Donna Nicely and Rose Nicely, and brother-in-law, Henry Gerken. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Sam, Floyd and George Nicely, and his sister, Joan Gerken. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at St Stephen Lutheran Church. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the church, with Rev. William Stottlemyer officiating. Burial will take place at St. Stephen Lutheran Cemetery. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
