Grace Marie Connor

location-icon

Swampscott, MA

Grace Marie Connor, 83, passed away peacefully at home in Swampscott, MA on January 10, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family, both near and far. She grew up in Watchung, NJ, and it was there as a teen where she met the forever love of her life, Peter Miles Connor. They celebrated 60 years of marriage together, building a life full of love and devotion to family, community, and friends.Grace was a wonderful mother to three daughters, but it was the coveted role of GG (Grandma Grace) that gave her the greatest joy. GG was cherished and will be deeply missed by her seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Anyone who met her, whether friend or chance encounter, was regaled with stories of her family… to say she was proud is an understatement.GG was the magic behind the traditions and special moments in our family. From her delicious Italian cooking that welcomed you as you walked in the door, to family holidays, to summer days on the beach, and “finding” surprise rolls of boardwalk tickets.Throughout her life, she showed tenacity and determination to accomplish whatever she set her mind to. When her daughters were young, she proudly launched the first 4-H Prep Club in 1968 from her beloved home in Hillsborough, NJ. She worked tirelessly to expand the program, which today is nationally recognized, and she is affectionately referred to as the mother of 4-H Prep. Her career expanded as she explored areas of interest as a painter, a realtor, and finally turned her favorite hobby, exploring garage sales, into a successful business. Her home was always filled with “great finds”, full birdfeeders, at least one Irish Setter, laughter, and a whole lot of love. To the very end, she was a role model of strength and faith for all who knew her.Grace is predeceased by her beloved husband Peter Miles Connor. Her three daughters Nancy Connor (Tom Rand), Cynthia Razzano (Mark), and Andrea Connor Souter (Don) will deeply miss her. Her ten grandchildren and grandchildren-in-law, and her four great-grandchildren will forever be changed by her love. She had lifelong friends, old and young, each of them a treasure and she cherished their time together. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that donations be made to Somerset County 4-H Prep, 310 Milltown Rd, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. If you would like to make a donation online, please use this link: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=S5838XQWLDXTQ.Her Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 11AM in Our Lady, Star of the Sea Church, Marblehead.  Burial will be in Star of the Sea Cemetery.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
