Curtis London, Jr., age 81, earned his eternal reward on Sunday, January 14, 2024. He was a native of Vacherie, LA, and a resident of Harvey, LA. Curtis was a 1960 graduate of Lincoln High School. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Southern University New Orleans and a Master’s of Education degree in Administration from the University New Orleans. He was a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. London was a dedicated educator who began his career as a science teacher at his beloved Lincoln High School. However, he quickly took his place in history at 27 when he was appointed assistant principal at Fairchild Middle School to protect and support the Black students entering formerly all-white schools. He was part of the set of young Black administrators assigned to integrate the schools ten years after the Brown v. Board of Education decision abolished segregation in schools. He retired from the Jefferson Parish Public School System in 1998. He was assistant principal of John Ehret High School and Ellender Middle, and principal of Henry Ford Jr. High. He was an active member of the Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Choir, Male Chorus, and Praise Team. He directed the youth choir, served as a Deacon, and managed the Multi-Purpose Center. London was also a member of the Westside Missionary Baptist Association Mass Choir. Beloved husband of 56 years to LaJune Wilson London. Devoted father to Nicolette London (Robert) Hudson and Curtis (LaKeysha) London, III. Doting grandfather of Chelsey London, Nia Hudson, Robert "Drew" Hudson, Jailyn London, and Curtis London, IV. Son of the late Curtis London Sr. and Almedia London. Grandson of the late Rev. Harry London, Rev. Solomon James, and Julien James. Loving brother of Herbert (Frankie) London, Julia (Al) Wells, Debra Anders, Charles London, and the late Rev. Dr. Ernest London. Sylvia was born and raised in the New Orleans area and spent much of her professional career in retail sales. In her younger days, she enjoyed horseback riding, gardening, and bowling. Dennis was born on July 28, 1944 and went to his Heavenly home on January 8, 2024. Dennis lived a life filled with love, laughter, and meaningful connections.Dennis was a proud United States Marine, serving his country with honor and dedication. He was also a proud Texas Longhorn and a retiree of Chevron after many years of service at the Belle Chase refinery. An avid and accomplished golfer, Dennis boasted numerous club championships to his name. His passion for the sport was infectious, and he found great joy in sharing his expertise. Dennis loved to teach others how to play golf and improve their swing, passing on his knowledge with patience and enthusiasm. Dennis played many golf courses in his lifetime but found a home at Lakewood Golf Club. He was a cherished member of a special golfing group that played daily. The camaraderie and shared moments on the course brought him immense joy, and the friendships formed in this group held a special place in his heart.Dennis's true legacy lies not just in his professional and athletic achievements but in the love and compassion he showered upon his family and friends. His grandchildren, Lason and Evelyn, held such a special place in his heart. He had a heart that knew no bounds, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, including strangers. His kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on the lives of those fortunate enough to cross his path. Dennis is survived by his wife, Shirley Biggs, devoted daughter Elizabeth Ann Seibert, grandchildren Lason and Evelyn Cope, step-daughter Lauren Farrell, 3 sisters - Vickie O’Neil, Evelyn Taylor, and Kim Baker, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Evelyn, and sister, Sharon.He also had a very close connection with his friends, the Ingram family. Rose passed away at West Jefferson Hospital from complications due to COVID on January 5, 2024 at the age of 92 years old with her family by her side. She was born in Barataria, Louisiana on August 5, 1931 to Helen and Paul Badeaux. She was one of 5 children. Rose is the beloved wife of the late Alton Sylvester Arcement. Loving mother of two daughters, Paula Jean Arcement Butler (husband Steven Butler) and Deborah Hope Arcement Hepting (husband Kris Hepting), and devoted grandmother of Robert Paul Gonzalez, Jessica Lynn Gonzalez Richardson (Taylor), Stephanie Marie Gonzalez, Britnie Rae Hepting and Kristopher Alton Hepting. Great-Grandmother to Amelia Rose Richardson and Matthew Oren Richardson. Sister of the late Horace Badeaux, Barbara Eve Pittman, Mary Schouest and infant brother John Badeaux. She was the last surviving sibling. Daughter of the late Helen Touchard Badeaux and Paul Badeaux. Daughter-in-law of the late Adeline DeGrise Arcement Allemand and Abel Allemand. Also survived by many other loving relatives and friends. She was a resident of Harvey, Louisiana for the past 54 years. Rose was a lifetime member of the American Legion Unit 222 Ladies Auxiliary where she served as Poppy Chairman for many years. She was a devout Catholic and attended Mass regularly at St. Rosalie Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed.
