Robert C. Knight, 82, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home, Friday, October 6, 2023. He was born in Toledo on February 18, 1941, to Charles and Lucille (Astry) Knight, who has preceded him in death. Robert graduated from Libby High School in 1959 and started his working career at the former SOHIO refinery. In 1963 Robert was drafted into the U. S. Army and served his basic training at Ft. Lenerwood, Missouri in heavy artillery. He was discharged in 1965 from Ft. Bliss, Texas and returned to Toledo. Robert married Linda M. (Cook) on June 23, 1972, and they celebrated 51 years together. In 1971 he started working for GM Powertrain where he remained until his retirement in 2004. After retirement, Robert was a driver for O'Reilly's Auto Parts and Auto Zone Auto Parts. Robert will be remembered for his love of cars and car racing. He built a 1961 Ford Starliner for racing and later built a 1969 Mustang that he raced as well. He loved the challenge of making cars run fast, and over the years had many that did! He was a member of the Placers Car Club and was a fixture at car shows all over the area. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Linda, son, David (Lourdes) Knight, grandchildren, Kayla, Jacob, Adam, and Ryan, and his brother, Jerry (Cinda) Knight. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Jesse (Ann) Brodbeck, Larry Brodbeck, Marcella Rose Bower, and Iris Knight. Visitation for Robert will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM, Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St. , Genoa. A funeral service will be conducted by Rev. James Dumke at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 11, at Zion Lutheran Church, 26535 Pemberville Rd. , Perrysburg, Ohio, with visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow at the Lake Township Cemetery, Millbury, Ohio. The family suggests memorial contributions be to the Zion Lutheran Church or to any Hospice of the Donor's choice. Richard Kendall, age 77, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on November 28, 2023 at Landings of Oregon. Richard was born in Toledo to Ray and Irene Kendall. He started to work in high school and graduated from Waite High School in 1965. Richard went on to join the Air Force for 4 years and was a Sergeant. He traveled all over the world and was very proud of it. After the service, he went on to Libbey Glass as a machine operator for 38 years and retired in 2008. He was a member of Glass Bottles Blowers Association. Richard lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed cars, car racing, ice boating and sail boating, fishing, hunting, birding, traveling to Florida, and driving his 1970 Chevelle Malibu. In retirement, he enjoyed meeting with friends in Point Place and Maumee River fishing. He also enjoyed the Hollywood Casino and spending time with his family. Richard is survived by his sisters, Betty Snavely and Dorothy Kendall; and nephew, Timothy Snavely (Donna); and great-nephew, Kyle Ottney (Jennifer). He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Irene Kendall and niece, Kimberly Snavely. Albert L. Gallagher, 72, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on November 29, 2023, surrounded by his loving family after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 26, 1951, in Toledo to Clarence and Mary (Baker) Gallagher. Al was a graduate of Macomber High School and served in the US Army at Fort Hood, Texas. Al worked at Ford's former Maumee Stamping Plant for 30 years, retiring in machine repair in 2007. He married Carol M. Elder on March 22, 1986, and together raised two children. Al always enjoyed making others laugh as much as he enjoyed laughing with family and friends. He treasured his friendships from the 401st MP Co. and UAW Local 1892. He was hard working and had a strong sense of service to his community and those less fortunate, serving on the Board of Trustees at the former Zion UMC where he and his wife were members and at various volunteer events in the Toledo area. Always quick with a story, he enjoyed interacting with his many customers as a driver at Ryan Pharmacy after retirement. Left to cherish Al's memory is his wife of 37 years Carol ( Elder) Gallagher; loving sons, Corey (Erin Murphy) Gallagher, Jacob Gallagher; sisters, Linda (Jim) Fencer, Pat (Jim) Opaczewski; brother, Tom Gallagher; sister-in-law, Cheryle Gallagher; and many dear friends and family. Al was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jimmy and Mike Gallagher. Eric S. McClain, age 61, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on December 1, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on May 1, 1962, in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, to Herb and Kaye McClain. Eric was an ardent sports fan and shared his passion with his son, Zach. They enthusiastically cheered on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, the University of Toledo Rockets, and the Central Catholic Fighting Irish. Eric was also a dedicated golfer and a member of the "Thursday Night League" for over 30 years, as well as the August Pull Tabbers group. He had a kind and outgoing personality, always greeting others with a warm smile, a hearty laugh, and a genuine interest in their stories. Eric cherished his friendships, both from his Pittsburgh roots and those he made in Toledo, especially the group fondly referred to as "Eric's Friends. " In addition to his parents, Eric is survived by his loving wife, Lynnette, whom he married on October 22, 1988, and their son, Zach, both of Toledo, Ohio. He is also survived by his brothers, Mark (Joni) of Charleroi, PA, and Curt (Carma) of Perryopolis, PA, his sister Karen of York, PA, his niece Jessica (Walter) Harman and their children, Allison and Isaac, of Lebanon, PA. Eric was always considered another brother by his in-laws David and Mary Ellen Recker, Sandy Stahan, Gina Bunker, Dennis and Shelley Jacobs, and Fred Russell. He was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Eric attended Belle Vernon Area High School, graduating in the Class of 1980, and went on to complete his higher education at Slippery Rock University in 1984. Eric moved to Toledo, Ohio in 1986. In 1993 he began his career in direct sales with Superior Uniform Sales, Inc. This is when his legendary and distinguished 30-year career with Public Safety officers began. Originally hired as Store Manager, he later moved into outside sales and was promoted to Director of Sales for Public Safety Uniforms. Eric knew every Police Officer, Deputy Sheriff, and Firefighter in Northwestern Ohio and Southeastern Michigan by first name. Whenever our Public Safety officers spoke about their uniforms, they always included comments about their experience with "Eric at Superior. " Eric took pride in outfitting every officer from head to toe, beginning with their first days as new recruits. He provided the utmost in personal service. These individual fittings paved the way for lasting friendships with Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters, and countless other people within Superior's family of customers. Manufacturer representatives, too, always sought out Eric on their visits to Superior and formed the same bond with him. Eric had a sign above his desk that read: "If you love what you do, you'll never work another day in your life!" Lynn and Zach wish to express their gratitude to their families and friends for the loving support they have received and are also especially thankful to the staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their dedication and care for Eric. Eleanor A. Harris, affectionately known as "Nanee" was born on July 28, 1936 to Marie and Willie Clyde Shy SR. in Toledo, Ohio. Eleanor was married to Edward Sanders and from that union two children were born, Elliott and Starlet. Eleanor was remarried to Johhnie Harris and through their union, she was blessed with an extended family of 15 children. She confessed in Christ at an early age. She began playing the piano at the age of 5, and at the age of ten she began playing the piano at Third Baptist Church. Eleanor was a long time member of Third Baptist Church under the Pastorship of Rev. Dr. Langston Bannister and other Pastors. She used her musical abilities as an organist for the Sunshine Band. She participated in several auxiliaries throughout the church and lended her talents where they benefited the church. She also shared her musical talents with St. Paul A. M. E Baptist Church under the Pastorship of Reverend Maze. Eleanor attended Gunkel Elementary School, Robinson Jr High School and was a 1957 graduate of Jessup W. Scott High School. She worked at E. O. P. A. Head Start for 40 years as an assistant teacher. Eleanor truly enjoyed working with the pre-school children. During her time at Head Start; she obtained her Child Development Associate degree (CDA). While Eleanor worked at Head Start, she also worked at Continental Security as a part-time Security Officer. Eleanor (Nanee) was a loving,caring and supportive wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was always there when we needed her. She was our biggest cheerleader and she always encouraged us to be the best that we could be. Eleanor had a beautiful and humble spirit and she loved the Lord. She showed the Love of Christ through her actions. She loved to laugh and would infect others with her laughter. With enjoyment, she would always put others before herself. She would give her last with a smile, and knowing with confidence that the Lord will provide. Eleanor was loved by family, friends and her community. She was preceded in death by parents, Willie and Marie Shy, brothers: Willie, Edward and Murray Shy, Granddaughters: Tanisha Sanders Brown, Taniel Sanders, and Grandson: Jason Sanders. She leaves to cherish her memory son, Elliott (Zaydah) Sanders, daughter, Starlet (Dewayne) Braxton: Grandchildren, Phillip ( Lili ) Sanders, Jenelle (Blake) Barnett, and Lundon Brown, Six great-grandchildren, Step-Son: Curtis Harris and all his brothers and sisters, and a host of other family and friends.Show more

Charles Avery "Chuck" Wells Jr. , age 69, of Toledo's Point Place Community, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. He was born September 20, 1954 in Toledo, OH to Charles Avery (Delores Dyer) Wells Sr. A graduate of Macomber High School, Chuck was employed as an auto body repairman at Jeff's Collision on Telegraph Rd. for 15 years, and Quality Collision on Sylvania Ave. He enjoyed auto racing and motorcycle riding and was a big fan of Nascar. He also enjoyed camping and watching classic Westerns. A loving family man, he looked forward to Sunday facetime calls with his daughters and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Chuck is survived by his "Buddy", Iris Porter; children, Charles "Chucky" Wells III, William (Jen) Appleman, Brandy (Rob) Durdel, and Kelly (Chris) Hepner; grandchildren, Taylor (Joe) Teet, Keegan Durdel, Kaylea (Derek) Berfield, Austin Wells, Alexis (David) Box, and Annalee (Connor) Appleman; and great-grandchildren, Robert Berfield and Brooks Box. Also surviving are his siblings, Wendy (Ken) Pluff, Kenneth (Jenny) Wells, Jeff (Rose) Wells, and Tim Wells; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Randy and Mike Wells.
