Robert Higgins, 76, a lifelong resident of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, in Hereford. A family and friend visitation and viewing will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 1:00 - 5:00 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Robert was born on December 5, 1946, in Hereford, Texas, to Altus Boyd and Alberta Lorene (Davis) Higgins. Robert was a Marine Corps and Reserve Veteran and served for 6 years. He married the love of his life, Beth Whitt, on December 6, 1993. Robert has been a farmer and rancher most of his adult life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snow skiing in his younger days, cooking and grilling his famous steaks, and taking a leisure drive through the country. Robert had many hobbies, but above all these his greatest love was his family, his wife, his children and grandchildren and his siblings. He will be dearly missed by many. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Beth Higgins of Hereford, Texas; his children, Heidi Brandenburg, Aaron Higgins, and his wife Kristi all of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Garret Higgins and his wife Cameron of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Kristen Brandenburg, Connor Higgins, Jaycee Higgins and Cade Higgins; his siblings, LuAnne Black of Paducah, Texas, Janis Gordon and her husband Tommy of Marianna, Florida, and Mike Higgins of Hereford, Texas. Teresa was born in Abilene, Texas to Bonifacio Valadez and Manula (Rocha) Valadez on February 7, 1949. She was a long-time resident of Hereford. Teresa met the love of her life Amado Medeles and they are now reunited. Teresa had a big heart and loved her family and children, she always made to keep them in her prayers. She enjoyed cooking and was famous for her amazing menudo. Teresa loved to share cooking recipes with her granddaughter. She would spend her time watching John Wayne and old western shows that she enjoyed. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. Kim Larelle White, 64, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023, in Hereford, Texas at her home. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 2:00 PM with Rick Roden, DDS, officiating at the Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel of Hereford, Texas. Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. Kim was born on March 27, 1959, in Portales, NM, to the home of Waide Davis and Joanne (Regan) Davis. Kim was a member of the Portales High School Class of 1977. She was employed by the Hereford ISD as a SPED Para and substitute teacher for the past 10 years and previously worked as a dental assistant to Rick Roden, DDS. Kim took much pride in her role as "Nana" to her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Kim is survived by her daughter, Brandi Hodges (Brent) of Burwell, NE; her son, Kane Wilt of Wylie, TX; her grandchildren, Hagen Hodges, Holden Hodges, Kinsler Wilt, and Kohen Wilt; her father, Waide (Zoe Ann) Davis of Portales, NM; her sister, Karen Crole (Larry) of Arlington, TX; a sister-in-law, Kay Burnett, of Portales, NM; her companion, John Paul Garrett, of Kingfisher, OK; she is also survived by numerous aunts, cousins and nieces. Raymundo Ortiz, Sr. 72, of Hereford, Texas passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023, in Hereford. Raymundo was born on February 5, 1951, in Chihuahua, Mexico. He married the love of his life Inez Ortiz in 1980. They raised their family in Friona, Texas, and Hereford, then later moved to Utah. Raymundo and Inez returned to Hereford in 2021. Raymundo worked in fabrication for a billboard company in Utah. He enjoyed working and was always busy. Raymundo enjoyed tinkering with things and working with his hands. He was an excellent gardener and had a green thumb, he could grow fruit trees from a fruit pit. Raymundo loved being a grandpa and teaching his grandkids how to garden and fish and was sure to always give his them a coin dollar or piece of gum. Raymundo enjoyed nature, long walks, and scenic drives with his wife Inez. Raymundo was strong, kind, and hardworking, he was a great provider who put his family first and made sure everyone was happy and taken care of. Raymundo was also goofy, friendly, and generous. Manuel "Slick" Velasco, 71, of Hereford, Texas passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023, in Hereford, surrounded by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 2:00 P. M. at San Jose Catholic Church with Celebrant Ramon Molina officiating. Burial to follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. Viewing will be on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, from 12:00 - 8:00 P. M. at the funeral home with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 P. M. Manuel was born on September 16, 1952, in Calvillo, Aguascalientes, Mexico to Nemiso Sr. and Jovita (Martinez) Velasco. Manuel a lifelong resident of Hereford, Texas; married the love of his life Mary (Aguirre) Velasco on June 30, 1979, in Hereford at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He worked at Armor (Cargill) Meat Packing Plant for many years where he met his beloved friend Alfonso Ebell. They have been like brothers for 47 years. After Armor, Manuel went to work for Hereford Independent School District and worked there for 34 years until retirement. Manuel was a stern, direct, strong, and simple man. He was always whistling and happy. Manuel enjoyed fishing, singing Karaoke, Riding "like the wind" on his motorcycle, vacations with his family, and grilling out with his friends and family. Manuel enjoyed the time spent at Alfonso's Ranch and he loved the outdoors. Manuel's greatest love was for his family and three grandchildren; he supported them in their activities, took them fishing, and taught them many things. Manuel was devoted to his faith and was a God-fearing Man. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Mary Velasco of Hereford, Texas; children, Crystal Tapia and her husband Sergio of Hereford, Texas, and Marco Velasco of Hereford, Texas; three grandchildren, Celeste Gaona, Yeslie Tapia, and Sergio Orlando Tapio all of Hereford; mother, Jovita Velasco of Friona, Texas; siblings, Fernando Velasco and his wife Romelia of Cactus, Texas, Jessie Velasco of Friona, Texas, Jovita Siaz and her husband Daniel of Oklahoma, and Dolores Silva and her husband Hipolito of Mexico. Alicia was born on February 22, 1945, in El Porvenir de Bachiniva, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Rafael and Rosa (Chavez) Mendoza. Alicia has been a resident of Hereford, Texas, since 1970. She married the love of her life Francisco Gonzales on December 10, 1970. Alicia's last place of employment was at Food King, where she had been employed for 15 years, making her wonderful, famous tortillas. She loved cooking, especially tamales, empanadas, and her bunuelos, traveling to Mexico to see her family, taking care of her chickens, and tending to her many plants, because she had a "green thumb. " Alicia was a member of the TDR Church in Hereford, Texas. One of Alicia's greatest loves was spending time with her family and grandchildren and serving her Lord and Savior. She will be missed by those who loved her.
