Frank Edward Zirkles, 79, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Thursday, November 30, 2023, at his home. Frank was born August 11, 1944, at Bainbridge in Ross County, Ohio to Jesse James and Ethel Walls Zirkles. He was a graduate of Edward Lee McClain High School and lived most of his life in Greenfield before moving to Washington Court House. Before his retirement, he had worked at RCA in Circleville. Frank was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Doug and Tommy Zirkles; a sister, Ruth Zirkles; a nephew, Tommy Zirkles and two brothers-in-law, Keith Vech and Hagar Risner. Frank, who was never married, is survived by two brothers, Denny Zirkles and his wife, Linda, and John Zirkles, all of Greenfield; three sisters, Catherine Scott and her husband, Bill, of Columbus, Joann Risner of Piketon and Susie Vech of Wilmington and numerous nieces and nephews. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will be observed and there will be no visitation or service. Jeffery Skaggs

The life of Jeffery Glenn Skaggs, born April 6th, 1961, was taken away in a tragic accident on Saturday, November 25th, 2023. He is preceded in death by his father, Harold Glenn Skaggs, and survived by his mother Bertha, brothers Timothy (Renee) Skaggs and Michael (Tanya) Skaggs, his wife Cindy, sons Jonathan (Rebecca) Skaggs and Brian Skaggs (Megan Wilson) and their daughter, Audrey; daughter Karen Skaggs, bonus-daughter Brooke (Aaron) Dennis and their children, Wyatt, Lucy and Eli; bonus-son Brandon (Sarah) Banks and their children, Janta, Noah and Lola. Jeffery served in the United States Army as a Ranger from 1984 to 1987 and was stationed in Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. During his time in the military, he served in the Military Police and was given the rank of E5, Sergeant. He spent time in Honduras during his service and was honorably discharged. Jeffery was a member of the Fayette County Church of Christ. He was also a volunteer firefighter at the Concord-Greene Fire Department where he was appointed the rank of Captain in 2016. During his time as a first responder, Jeffery was known to always be one of the first to arrive on scene and one of the first to help wherever he could in any situation. He also enjoyed reaching out to the community and loved presenting the Fire in The Sky 4th of July fireworks show for more than 20 years. Jeff was a pillar of the community, but he was also very important to his family, and they to him. He was a loving son, devoted husband, a treasured father, and a beyond loved, never boring "Pap". He enriched the lives of everyone and was always quick to answer a call, lend a tool, help fix something, or deliver a bad joke. Your family already misses you tremendously and nothing will ever fill the hole that has been left in our hearts, but we will continue to keep you alive in our memories and our hearts. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a. m. on Saturday, December 2, 2023, in the Grace Community Church with Mike Skaggs officiating, burial to follow in the Milledgeville-Plymouth Cemetery. JANIYAH ADELLE QUEEN, age 8 months, gained her angel wings on Friday, November 24, 2023. Her death was sudden and unexpected. She was born on March 2, 2023 in Ross County to Tommy Thomas Queen and Marjorie Olivia McClendon. Janiyah was always a happy baby who crawled everywhere and recently started pulling herself up. She loved playing with her toys and her parents said she loved to "growl" at everyone! Janiyah was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Mike Queen, and April James. Survivors include her loving parents, Tommy and Marjorie; her brother, Elijah Rahmel Judd; maternal grandparents, Sam McClendon and Kristle Piccolo; great-grandparents, Pamela Ball, Harley Price, Sam McClendon, and Sandra Mason; her special Nana, Melissa Dewitt; aunts, Kelly Jo Piccolo, Kiara (Darrel) Hostetter, Terra Queen, Brandy Cox, Katie Bug Queen, Cindy Queen, Jazdyn Williams, and Jerezmay Williams. Ann Cox, 88, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 7:50 p. m. at St. Catherine's Manor of Washington Court House where she had been residing the past year. Ann was born September 6, 1935, in Fayette County, Ohio to William McKinley and Anna Marie Greenwalt Dews. She was a 1953 graduate of Washington High School and was a lifelong resident of this community. She formerly was a medical assistant for Dr. Joseph Herbert and Dr. Warren Craig. Ann attended Heritage Church, had been a member of the community band and the Washington Lioness Club. Her passion was taking care of her family and home. She enjoyed flowers and gardening and was a pet lover. She was preceded in death by her husband, P. Wesley Cox on November 19, 2022, and a brother, Mac Dews, Jr. on December 10, 2016. She is survived by four children, Joseph Alan Cox and his wife, Janice, of Alpharetta, GA; Jennifer Ann Heiny and her husband, Mark, of Washington Court House, Jonathan Dews Cox and his wife, Cindy, of Jeffersonville and Jason Daniel Cox and his wife, Jennifer, of Mason, OH; eight grandchildren, Morgan Cox, Mallory (Ethan) Cunningham, Molly (Terry) Gruber, Jake Pollock, Alicia (Nathan) Dill, Logan, Nathan and Katie Cox; six great grandchildren, Macy, Megan, Paislee, Roman, Macklin, Jovie and a great great granddaughter, Daisy. Christopher Allan Havens, age 50, of Washington Court House, passed away on November 15, 2023. He was born on October 6, 1973, in Fayette County to John and Winnie (Knisley) Havens. Chris was a 1992 graduate of Washington High School. He was a loving father, partner, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He loved football and especially enjoyed watching Michigan beat Ohio State! Chris had many interests such as listening to Tupac, watching Andy Griffith, and going fishing. He was also an artist and had a passion for working out. Chris was preceded in death by his parents; his father John H Havens Jr. , his mother Winnie (Knisley) Havens, and his son Nickolas Allan Havens. Survivors include his fiance Angie Ellison Wisecup, two children, Tyler (Jennifer) Havens and Sarah Havens (Christopher Taylor), grandchildren Isaac Havens, Mitchell Havens, Nathan Paxton, and Madison Mullins. Helga Elisabeth Kent, 87, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Friday, November 17, 2023, at 1:53 a. m. at her home. Helga was born May 24, 1936, in Dessau, East Germany to Moritz and Elizabeth Jllge Hieronymus. She moved to Washington Court House in 1972, from Kansas. Before her retirement, she had been manager of the deli-bakery at the Washington Court House Kroger for 15 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard (Dick) Charles Kent on March 27, 2003. She was also preceded by a son, Norbert Kent in 2018. Helga is survived by a daughter, Donna Vicarel and her fiancee, Scott Ratliff, of Washington Court House; a brother, Michael Kent of London, Ohio; four grandchildren, Kevin Kent, Mark Kent, Patrick Kent and Samantha Aames; a great granddaughter, Sophia Riveria; great great granddaughter, Tala Aames; special family friends, Erwin and Nelsie Riveria; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Rainer Fuchs and Dieter Hieronymus, all of Dessau, Germany; a nephew, Ronald Fuchs and a niece, Nina Hieronymus. To honor her wishes, cremation will take place. GARY LAYTON LEISURE, age 66, of Washington Court House, passed away at 3:16 A. M. on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Fayette County on June 21, 1957 to the late Darrell E. and Helen Bondurant Leisure. On August 1, 1976 he married the former Lois "Jeanie" Gragg Leisure, who survives. Gary proudly served his country in the United States Army for over 25 years and was a retired Mail Carrier for the United States Post Office. He was a member of Fayette Aerie #423 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the American Legion Post 25 in Washington Court House. Gary enjoyed guns, and everything outdoors, especially fishing, hunting and camping. In addition to his loving wife, survivors include his children, Gary W. Leisure, Kristin N. (Ben Dean) Leisure all of Washington C. H. and Kelly J. Leisure Curliss of New Orleans, LA; his grandchildren, Megan Colwell, Mykenzie, Leighton and Kylie Leisure and Nathan and Bryce Curliss; his great-grandchildren, Charleigh Baudendistel and Payton and Makenna Colwell. Also surviving is his brothers and sisters, Sue Templin of Frankfort, Darrell Leisure of Williamsport, Jeannie (Danny) Aslpaugh and Michael Leisure both of Washington C. H. ; his daughter in-law, Jessica Leisure; his son in-law, Brian Curliss; his brother and sister in laws, Rick and Marjorie Gragg and Lisa Smith; his special aunt, Laura Hurley along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Along with his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Miranda Leisure; his sister, Leora May Johnson; his brother in-laws, Bill Gragg and Michael Davis, Sr. ; his sister in-laws, Sarah Leisure and Luann Leach; his father and mother in-law, William and Margaret Gragg; and his nephew, Michael Davis, Jr. (A. K. A. Bubby). A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P. BETTY JEAN (KNISLEY) HUX, age 94, slipped into the arms of Jesus early Thursday morning November 16, 2023, from Traditions National Church Residence in Chillicothe. Betty was born on October 14, 1929, in Fayette County, one of twelve children of Clement and Ethel (Beekman) Knisley. In 1948 she was united in marriage to Earl L. Hux who preceded her in death in 1995 after 47 devoted years together. Betty was also preceded in death by her parents and siblings Hanah Stocker, Mildren McKeever, Gladys McKeever, Kathryn Joslin, Anna Rader, Donna Sanders, Mary Alice Knisley, James Knisley and two infant siblings. Still surviving is one brother, Edward Knisley of Washington CH, Ohio, along with several nieces and nephews. Survivors also include her son, Dr. /Rev. Earl Ralph Hux and his wife Becky (Norman) Hux, granddaughter Drs. Danielle (Stefan) Price and great grandchildren, Isaiah, and Huxlee Price. Betty was a farmer's wife and a school bus driver for Madison-Plains School District completing 31 years of service in 2001. After receiving Jesus as her savior, she became a life-long member of the Newport Church of Christ in Christian Union. A gifted alto, she began singing with the Archer Trio (Betty [Archer] Bush and Sylvia [Archer] Isaacs) shortly after her conversion. She loved to sing and was faithfully devoted to her family and church. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 12:00 p. m. at the Newport Church of Christ in Christian Union, 6800 St Rt 38, London, Ohio 43140 with Dr. Jack Norman and Rev. Charles Elliott officiating. Family and friends may visit at the Church on Monday morning from 10:00 a. m. until the time of service. Interment will be held at the Range Township Cemetery.
